Overall experience was good. The risotto was slightly salty and our waiter was nice, but slightly overenthusiastic .
Top notch service. The food was truly wonderful and the wine recommendations were perfect with each course. I’ll be coming back and soon.
Food, service and ambience were good. But we were seated at the table next to the bathroom and I don’t understand why when the restaurant was empty. Kind of ruined my meal and I probably won’t be back because of this.
The tasting menu was hit or miss. Most things were served room temperature and we felt it should have been hot/ or even warm. A few standout dishes, but overall a little too expensive for what we got.
Service was unbearably slow. I noted in my reservation that the dinner was for a birthday celebration, but there was no acknowledgement of this throughout our meal.
Everything was fantastic! First time dining here couldn’t have been more impressed. We will definitely be back.
Delicious food! We ordered the Chef’s Menu and it catered to vegetarian as well. We will definitely be back.
I went to Kali for a dining experience after following them for 2 years on Instagram. I left full, happy and satisfied. I would recommend this place to any and everyone who wants to feel special.
I had wanted to visit Kali for a long time so I was glad to finally be in the neighborhood. Lunch was terrific and I hope to go again soon for dinner.
Unbelievable experience. Best restaurant in Los Angeles. A MUST try. Unparalleled hospitality and unforgettable food.
Incredible all around! The food was out of this world. Our favorites were the black barley risotto, the hangar steak, and the egg white gelato with candied egg yolk shavings. Highly recommended!
Service was impeccable, food delicious and it was the best way to celebrate our one year anniversary. Perfect for a romantic dinner.
FOOD AND SERVICE EXCELLENT .. UNFORTUNATELY, KALI LOOKS LIKE A TIRE OLD COFFEE SHOP
The yellow tail had gristle and tendon on it for one of the dishes, which ruined the dish. Hard to believe its a one start Michelin do the inconsistencies with dishes. Majority of the dishes were excellent.
Modern California cuisine with really good quality ingredients. The 8 course tasting menu was a great value and we loved every dish along with its presentation.
Really good food. Decent prices. Not too loud. Not too precious. Good service. And did I say really really good food?
Love love love this place!!
Absolutely delicious with amazing service. We sat at the chef’s table and ordered practically everything on the menu. Everything we ate was phenomenal. Flavors were spot on and presentation was perfect. Thank you to all the chefs including Alexis for all the recommendations and laughs!
Delicious, hidden, romantic and delicious food to boot! I can't wait to go AGAIN.
Great food, great wine, quality/ owners are smart, great taste in wine..outstanding food...
Fabulous hosts, chef, service and unusual food - something different and fabulous!
Absolutely excellent as usual.
Amazing food with great service.
Wonderful food and service, will definitely go back again!
Some of the dishes we had were brilliant, as in shockingly good. I highly suggest you save room for the shaved egg yolk gelato. That dish could win awards.
We started with charred avocado and it was incredible; a fantastic combination of blackened fats with light dressing and nutty pistachios. Superb creation. I then ordered the pork loin which was a very bad choice that night. While the recipe itself was well designed (with a sweetness and roasted flavor), they served me a loin that was barely edible due to the fat marbling. I tried to eat around it but was getting an upset stomach. (My date's cod was impeccable so perhaps try that if they are serving it). The servers were very thoughtful about the pork. They brought me a digestif, and of course didn't charge for the entree. It was a bit shocking that made it out of the kitchen though. But everyone was very nice.
Three things are very odd about this place. We ordered a room temperature water and were told we'd have to get out of our seats and move our belongings because the water was stored under where I was sitting. That's strange. Second, the tables are too small. They have these wonderful plates and what with water glasses and wine glasses and these oversized ceramic plates, you cannot have two people on tables that small . I'm 200 pounds, and five of the table options in that place meant I'd be touching elbows with the people next to me or in the walking path. Not to mention that all of us felt like we were having dinner literally with the people next to us. I refuse to let this become just an LA gripe. I know it's hard to make a profit in the restaurant industry. But a redesign is in order to get rid of that half wall between the bar and dining room.
And most important: NO, DO NOT CHILL RED WINES. I worked for wineries, tasting rooms, and wine/cigar bars: Wine temperatures matter. Our Pinot was so closed up, we had to breathe into the glasses for ten minutes. So strange.
Still a great place.
We arrived for an early dinner, which I would recommend because it gets loud fast once the rush comes in. Things moved slowly, but that seems to be part of the vibe. Who wants to rush dinner anyway? We ordered a la carte and don't regret it. Each bite was so delicious we stopped talking just to savor it. I can't wait to save my pennies to go back for another unforgettable meal.
Nice menu ... limited lunch hours ... knowledgeable servers ...
Fave restaurant in LA. Everything about our dining experience there is always perfect and consistently amazing- the food, staff, chef, ambiance. It’s a must go to in LA
Kali is my favorite restaurant in the world. It is an exquisite experience, and every bite is bliss.
4th time to Kali. Always has been so good. Cocktails and bread was on point but everything else this time was very salty and all the meat was very fatty and chewy. The charred avocado which used to be magical felt just blah. Very disappointed as I used to love this place but for the price point it has to be better.
Hidden star...lucky not many know about this michalin star gem or else I wouldn’t have been able to make a last minute reservation. I am sure word will get out soon
We always have such a nice dinner at this restaurant, it is one of my favorites.
The food here is incredible. Light, fresh, flavorful, local, sustainable. Everything you want in a meal, you will walk away amazed at how beautiful and tasty your meal was. Great wines and drinks as well in a bright open space. Not a loud restaurant at all, perfect for great conversation amongst friends!
Great Experience and fantastic service. We both enjoyed our meals also
My boyfriend and I were in LA for the weekend and decided to go to Kali to celebrate our anniversary Sunday night and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the wine pairing was great and our server, Jess, was fantastic!
Kali has amazing, creative food; a wonderful wine selection and the very best service. This is one of the very best restaurants in LA.
From start to finish a 10. The thought and care that went into creating and presenting each unique tasting dish, was etheric and food from the gods! Downright Masterful.
Loved the whole dining experience at Kali. Jessica and all other wait staff were friendly and fully knowledgeable about food and wine. Chef Kevin’s food was exceptional. We were a group of 5 and each one of us enjoyed our first and second courses. Of course we had to have the gelato with shaved preserved egg yolks. Perfect end to a lovely meal.
Interesting and exciting cuisine. Very good wines for reasonable prices. They made an extra pasta for our three year old daughter free of charge. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Service is impeccable.....food is wonderful....love dining at KALI
