We went to Kalani’s while vacationing in South Lake Tahoe to celebrate my fathers 70th birthday. We were a party of 11 which included 3 kids. It was family friendly and the food was delicious. Their signature Chilean Sea Bass was amazing. We had a wide variety of entrees and everyone’s meal was great. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Not many vegetarian options and definitely not friendly to those with a shellfish allergy. Even when the waitress was informed of the allergy, shellfish contamination still occurred.
Our server Jacqueline was very personable and professional. We were bummed the pork wasn’t ready but next time.
All n all very happy
Fantastic and very flavorful food:
My husband and I love this place. We had our small wedding reception here 5 years ago and they brought us a small chocolate cake on the house to celebrate 5 years together. The food is excellent! I got the Alaskan king crab legs special and the hubby got the sea bass... so delicious. The two lemon drops I ordered were perfect. Our server was a sweetheart. Great experience and decadent food. Thank you, Kalani's!
We did dinner here. Two adults, two kids. Wife did a flight of wines, I did a specialty drink, good pours on both. We had a roll as an appetizer, which was great. Wife had the sea bass, which was amazing. I had the rib eye which wasn’t worth half as much as it cost. It was tough, overdone, and the grill marks were too deep and caused the charcoal taste. Skip it. Kids both had kids chicken plates, which was fine. We then split a creme brûlée for dessert. Total was over $200 with tip. Overall, it wasn’t worth the that to us.
Service was good, nice guy, Tahoe local.
Overall, we’d go back and probably just stick with some rolls and the sea bass.
We finally made reservations at Kalani’s after living in Tahoe for the past 12 years. I can’t believe we have never been ! They have an amazing happy hour in the bar and such delicious cocktails . We moved into the dining room for dinner with a large party . The service was top notch . Never a water glass not filled. The food was even better than we expected! Creative , healthy fusions . We will definitely be returning very soon
Everything was perfect. From the drinks to the Ahi Poke to the sushi rolls!
Great service. Food 4/5. Fish was a little over cooked.
One of the wines in flight was soured. Shrimp in lettuce wraps were over spiced with cayenne or something, which menu did not acknowledge, and staff did not seem to care.
We got there right before our reservation time and we're sent right to our table. It was only after we've been there for a little bit that we realized we are next to the bathroom. Despite this we had a great server in a very good meal.
The staff went above and beyond to take care of us. The food was AHMAZING and the drinks we're awesome, too!
Awesome Hawaiian feel in the Lake Tahoe area!
Had a great time in the bar for happy hour! It wasn't too crowded and we were able to get in with 7 and get a high top for the teenagers close to the bar. Th restaurant is on the corner of a busy area close to th gondola. The food was great. Service wonderful. Ambiance perfect for after skiing high.
Everything was amazing! So good that we decided to repeat and have our last night dinner at this wonderful restaurant! We had sashimi and sushi as starters and fish and seafood as entrees. All very fresh and tasteful!
Great food, excellent service, nice drinks. Not the best selection of sashimi. We also ordered sushi rolls, which were fine but I had better. Their signature dish of sea bass is amazing. Overall high quality of food and really good service.
Excellent Hawaiian. Just got back from 3 wks in Hawaii/Maui, and Kalani’s was every bit as good as the restaurants there.
Food was average. Service was below average. Ambience is relation to the other restaurants in the village is ok. Not impressed.
Great Sushi and Sashimi. Great Drinks. Will definitely be back.
It was first time & plan to return during our next trip to S Lake Tahoe. We enjoyed the memorable experience!
Tough to call the noise level ‘Energetic’. The food and service from our waitress was excellent. The problem was the adults at the table next to us and the ultimate handling of them by the restaurant manager.
$40-60/plate not including drinks and this table, both adults and kids, were allowed to play music on multiple media devices and the vulgar language they were allowed to continue through dinner with was filthy. When I brought the explicit language to the attention of the manager. I was told, “well, we’re a family restaurant.”
Good sir, that is exactly why you need to take action when abusive language and explicit foul language is being used at your restaurant.
To not take action and stand up for the vulgarity with ‘a family restaurant’ reply was unacceptable.
They offered to comp a portion of the bill, but not what I or my family was looking for.
Waitress was great, food was great. But the manager needs to stick up for the brand he is pitching.
Waitress and support were on point.
Excellent mai tai’s; fish and scallops perfect.
ribs appetizer seemed bland, cooked perfect, but sauce lacking in quantity and flavor. (Compare to Roy’s)
Very good food and the service was very tolerant of our 3 children.
Fine dining in South Lake Tahoe! We had wonderful service throughout the meal. The sea bass (signature dish) was melt-in-your-mouth DELISH! The Painkiller cocktail was very tasty and the three desserts that we attempted to eat were to die for, especially the hula pie! Great atmosphere, comprehensive wine list, delicious food!
Food was delicious and presented beautifully
We were in Lake Tahoe with our family party of 7 with 3 three children. Great restaurant wonderful service and creative different food. A taste of Hawaii. Mahi was delicious and the tiger prawns were really good too. Delicious desserts lava cake and the hula pie were fabulous. Childrens menu was good and it was very kid friendly. Highly recommend.
My side dish came way after my meal. That was the only thing wrong. Otherwise everything was great
Valentine’s at Kalani’s is an exceptional experience. The ambiance, service and cuisine are of the highest caliber...our new tradition!
It was fairly quiet when we went at 8 pm on a Sunday but service was phenomenal. Excellent timing and very attentive in a seamless way.
Food was absolutely amazing!! Highly recommend
Food was good, hoped for a larger selection of sushi.
Great sushi with a fresh Polynesian twist. A nice break from the typical heavy cuisine / pizza joints in Tahoe.
Superior food & atmosphere. I have eaten all over the world and Misty was the best server ever!
I will go back.
Another great night at Kalani's. Great food and wine.
Service was just okay, but the food very below par. We are sushi fanatics and this missed the mark. Americanized and lacking in flavor. Sprinkling in “aloha” and “mahalo” didn’t make up for much.
We've been to Kalani's many times and always enjoyed the ambiance and the food. This time the restaurant was quiet, probably because we ate early. The food was excellent as was the service.
Amazing Sea Bass!
Great place for Sushi and excellent food. I will be back.
We drove from North Lake Tahoe to Kalani's in South Lake Tahoe. Definitely worth the drive for Sushi & Seafood.
