Full weekend brunch, lunch, dinner menu, sushi, and full bar served daily.
If you go to Kalanis ask for Curtis for your waiter. Very knowledgeable, good energy and personable. Thanks Curtis
Disappointed. Food came out, out of order, wedge salad (good) and beef cheeks (good) came out right away, during our Mai Tais (good), even though we ordered oysters, before everything else, and were expecting the spicy hamachi roll (not very good, flavor of hot sauce predominated, what was promoted as elegant, and our server, Bob’s favorite) after the oysters (good). I was looking forward to having a glass of Riesling (good) with some of these starters.. I brought this to their attention, and they did accommodate me with a half glass, while we started on the salad. At these prices I had hoped for better service. The table that we were sat at, wasn’t set yet. They had set most of them, but not our row. Had to eventually ask for some silverware. Ribeye was very good with blue cheese butter sauce, served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My Rack of Lamb was served on the cold side, on a bed of sweet potato mash and Brussels sprouts (not good). Hula Pie was unremarkable/disappointing. Split of Duckhorn Merlot elevated the experience. Server not very tuned in, firing plates out of order, and relied more on his “charm” to get by, unsuccessfully.
Bob’s service was top shelf. Appreciate him while you have him.
Good as always!
Food was good, drinks were great, service was outstanding!
My wife and I were skiing Heavenly in Tahoe, and were excited when we noticed a Hawaiian restaurant near where we were staying! We stuck with Hawaiian themed cocktail (yum), appetizer (yum), and the restaurant was so nice to split the salad and Mahi dishes for us! We enjoyed ourselves so much, we tried the Hawaiian themed bread pudding, which was also delicious. Even the butter they brought to the table had Mango blended into it! Although I wouldn't call it Hawaiian food per se, it was definitely inspired fusion cuisine, and it was all very tasty. The most interesting thing we enjoyed was their Hawaiian inspired Caesar salad (not really a Caesar at all, other than the Romaine lettuce)...the dressing they created (a creamy, fruit infused deliciousness) was wonderful, and the crispy won-tons instead of croutons was an inspired touch!
Excellent! Highly recommend.
Amazing food and service we always come back here on every trip
We've been going to Kalani's for years....quality stays high. Tara is great. Bar and happy hour are great. A little too kid friendly (hence we eat at the bar more often than the main room). Maybe set up a stroller parking lot.
Was excited to try this place as it came recommended from guests at a resort we stayed at. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food quality - our appetizers and mains were very over-salted. Ambience was very drab. Server was nice, but when it came time for our check, it seemed to take forever. We dined as a couple, but of note that it is very family friendly (lots families with kids dining around us) - this can be positive of negative depending on what you're looking for!
Excellent all around. The salads were very tasty. The crudo was excellent. Sake choices were good. Main courses were exceptional. The truffle mashed potatoes were a big hit. Our table had steak, sushi, fish and everyone enjoyed their choice. Server was very nice. The food is definitely the highlight here. Our server did a great job at explaining the menu.
Delicious food and great drinks! The service was excellent!!
Excellent food , service and atmosphere
Highly recommend going
We were very excited to try Kalani's, maybe a little too much. It fell short for us on overall taste, making it very overpriced. I do not think we will eat there again.
I really had a great birthday dinner at Kalani's! The cocktails were wonderful, the sushi roll was very good, and our entrees were delicious. I have loved Kalani's for a very long time as a local living in Lake Tahoe!
LOVE Kalani's! Perfect Aloha ambiance and incredible food in Tahoe! The signature seabass is not to be missed - and their MaiTais are the best this side of Hawaii!
Food was good. Service was not special just routine which made overall just ok.
Ahi Poke was just right. Lamb and sea bass entrees were very good. Server was attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Their Brunch is amazing!!! Make sure to make reservations and in the summer their patio is the best place for a Mai Tai in the sun.
First time back in many years, and was much impressed on how it had improved. There were five of us, as we were seated between the sushi prep area and the front door. The screens kept us from the cold breeze of the door opening and closing. The food was excellent. My nephew and I split the sampler platter appetizer - all very good and then we each had our own pulled pork flatbread for main. Just enough to fill us up. Of course we did also have dessert. My husband and another person split a sushi roll. It would have been nicer if the wait person had the chef split the roll onto two plates instead of having them pass it from one end of the table to the other.
So delicious everything was fantastic made a feast!
Food was awesome very accommodating for my group we very much enjoyed the cocktails and the food
Food and Tally, our waiter, was great. However couldnt get over the service that Vanessa, who was working the front, or lack of service provided. We had a 7 oclock reservation, and we literally waited there next in line and right in front of her for over 10 minutes, while she was on the phone during those 10 minutes with no greeting or acknowledgment. Line grew out the door while she was on the phone. My wife had to hunt another worker down to get any type of service and to be seated for our reservation. If she didnt do that, who knows how long we would would have waited. Everything was great besides Vanessa’s lack of service. Would not recommend to anyone based on this, was really really disappointed would have expected better from the front of the house.
We were disappointed to be seated in the far back corner of the restaurant directly in front of the door to the kitchen, but the food was phenomenal and made up for the lousy table.
Kitchen is very slow. Food is okay but not great for price.
Of the 4 items we ordered, only 2 would be memorable.
Great sushi in a lively atmosphere. We also love the location.
Celebrated my 40th Birthday and with the help of the management team they surprised me with and amazing evening filled with friends and laughter. The food was amazing, staff attentive and a beautiful table.
Waiter was great! Bob was the best part of the experience. The rest was mediocre at best and over priced.
We love Kalani’s and come here every time we come to South Lake Tahoe . The service is always great! The sea bass (one of their specialties) never disappoints, the sushi is amazing, and they have wonderful wines by the bottle or glass. Highly recommend!
Andrew. gave us excellent customer service he was a great server
We have probably taken more friends to dine with us at Kalani's than any other restaurant in town in the past 10 years. We had another favorite restaurant that went downhill, never made any changes to their menu and we also heard numerous reports of our customers/friends who we recommended this other favorite spot to getting sick after eating there. Kalani's has never disappointed us for their dinner service but I can't say the same for their Happy Hour. Sometimes understaffed and the service can be challenging at best.
We have come to dinner over five years. Never disappointed. Fresh fish and good cocktail.
I have been to Kalani's in February for the past 4-5 years. The bar and wine selection is very good and the food is excellent. The sushi and poke are tops every time we are there. The atmosphere is nice and some people are dressed up and other in their ski clothes. We will continue to go each year following our annual ski seminar in Lake Tahoe.
Delicious food and great service. Always a fun stop in South Lake Tahoe.
The food was excellent. I had Mahi Mahi and shared the Heavenly Salad. There was enough for two, and the dressing was very good. Others in our party had the mixed grilled seafood and thought it was also excellent. The service left us unimpressed. An appetizer was served after the soups and salad were almost gone. Second drinks came after we had completed our meal. We were offered one free dessert to share and 10% off the check, but the awkward timing of service left us bewildered. I have eaten here before and the service was good, so I will just assume it was an anomaly.
The Kalani's sushi roll was wonderful, sea bass was pretty good, and the mud pie dessert was delicious.
The scallops were excellent. We enjoyed the cocktails.
Food was good, but for the prices they charge, the experience as a whole was pretty disappointing. Seating was awful. Sat RIGHT next to another couple on a booth seat, a couple we didn't know, and it was our 32nd anniversary. Not cool! The crackers, which they call bread, I just don't get(?) The Sushi Roll was about the size of 1/3 of a regular Sushi Roll. Other than that, it was a great dinner!
We live in Tahoe part time and have always just walked by. Tonight we stopped in and what a treat. The atmosphere was wonderful, the service was impeccable and the food superb. We had the filet mignon which was seasoned perfectly. The pork chop which my husband had was cooked to perfection. We also had lobster bisque and wedge salad. We topped it off with the bread pudding which melted in my mouth. Add a glass of Rombauer Chardonnay and our meal was complete. We also had an Irish Maid drink which was perfect blend for our pre dinner drink needs. Highly recommended.
