Food was average. Service was below average. Ambience is relation to the other restaurants in the village is ok. Not impressed.
Great Sushi and Sashimi. Great Drinks. Will definitely be back.
It was first time & plan to return during our next trip to S Lake Tahoe. We enjoyed the memorable experience!
Tough to call the noise level ‘Energetic’. The food and service from our waitress was excellent. The problem was the adults at the table next to us and the ultimate handling of them by the restaurant manager.
$40-60/plate not including drinks and this table, both adults and kids, were allowed to play music on multiple media devices and the vulgar language they were allowed to continue through dinner with was filthy. When I brought the explicit language to the attention of the manager. I was told, “well, we’re a family restaurant.”
Good sir, that is exactly why you need to take action when abusive language and explicit foul language is being used at your restaurant.
To not take action and stand up for the vulgarity with ‘a family restaurant’ reply was unacceptable.
They offered to comp a portion of the bill, but not what I or my family was looking for.
Waitress was great, food was great. But the manager needs to stick up for the brand he is pitching.
Waitress and support were on point.
Excellent mai tai’s; fish and scallops perfect.
ribs appetizer seemed bland, cooked perfect, but sauce lacking in quantity and flavor. (Compare to Roy’s)
Very good food and the service was very tolerant of our 3 children.
Fine dining in South Lake Tahoe! We had wonderful service throughout the meal. The sea bass (signature dish) was melt-in-your-mouth DELISH! The Painkiller cocktail was very tasty and the three desserts that we attempted to eat were to die for, especially the hula pie! Great atmosphere, comprehensive wine list, delicious food!
Food was delicious and presented beautifully
We were in Lake Tahoe with our family party of 7 with 3 three children. Great restaurant wonderful service and creative different food. A taste of Hawaii. Mahi was delicious and the tiger prawns were really good too. Delicious desserts lava cake and the hula pie were fabulous. Childrens menu was good and it was very kid friendly. Highly recommend.
My side dish came way after my meal. That was the only thing wrong. Otherwise everything was great
Valentine’s at Kalani’s is an exceptional experience. The ambiance, service and cuisine are of the highest caliber...our new tradition!
It was fairly quiet when we went at 8 pm on a Sunday but service was phenomenal. Excellent timing and very attentive in a seamless way.
Food was absolutely amazing!! Highly recommend
Food was good, hoped for a larger selection of sushi.
Great sushi with a fresh Polynesian twist. A nice break from the typical heavy cuisine / pizza joints in Tahoe.
Superior food & atmosphere. I have eaten all over the world and Misty was the best server ever!
I will go back.
Another great night at Kalani's. Great food and wine.
Service was just okay, but the food very below par. We are sushi fanatics and this missed the mark. Americanized and lacking in flavor. Sprinkling in “aloha” and “mahalo” didn’t make up for much.
We've been to Kalani's many times and always enjoyed the ambiance and the food. This time the restaurant was quiet, probably because we ate early. The food was excellent as was the service.
Amazing Sea Bass!
Great place for Sushi and excellent food. I will be back.
We drove from North Lake Tahoe to Kalani's in South Lake Tahoe. Definitely worth the drive for Sushi & Seafood.
Outstanding food quality and service. Great New Years dinner. The Tuna was terrific!
The food was fantastic!! ... once we actually got it. Our kids’ meals came out quickly, which was great, but it was then a full 35 minutes before the grown-ups got food. The restaurant was not full and didn’t seem understaffed, so I’m not sure why it took so long. Great food though!
Holiday dinner with family
Good food and nice place.
sushi Was HORRIBLE!!!!!! and I KNOW sushi. GROSS! And the service Horrible too!
Kalani’s is a great option in amongst a bunch of pizza and other fast food type options. Service is excellent and very prompt.
Food was pretty good too. The signature Chilean sea bass was wonderful. As were the tuna poke and seafood platter (2 scallops, 1 jumbo shrimp and fish of the day which was New Zealand sea bass today).
We even ordered a filet steak and that was declared ‘delicious’ by the person who finished it off!
A couple of the appetizer dishes didn’t quite hit the same levels. Cucumber Kim Chee was very salty (so much so that we couldn’t really eat it and the server took it back). Baby back ribs and edamame were okay.
Worth a visit if you’re in the Heavenly Village Area.
The seabass is to die for! We have never had a bad meal at Kalani’s!
For the price of a meal at Kalani’s, I expected a lot more. The meals are either 1) Sushi (pretty good) or 2) a big chunk of meat or fish without a significant side dish. The members of our party ar not vegetarians, but don’t find the appeal of a meat-centric meal. And paying extra for some unappealing veggies just adds insult to injury.
There were a number of service glitches. The bathrooms were dirty, the salads were soggy, and in all, I felt like I was being corralled like a tourist when I was expecting a nice dining experience. Go elsewhere.
Everything was great, only issue I had was that I was not aware that 18% gratuity is already included. It would have been nice and courteous if the waiter would have mentioned it . I would have given a bigger tip for honesty.
The food was delicious and the waiters we had was wonderful. Sweet people indeed. Definitely will dine at Kalani's again.
Kalani's had good food although the prices were pretty steep. We did enjoy what we ate and had a nice view of the village during our meal. Location is a bit hard to find (it's hidden) but the staff were friendly and funny.
Excellent food - variety, taste, texture, everything was perfect. All Hawaiian dishes are great. Really good sushi, too. The drinks are a bit expensive - cocktails $12 each. The quality of drinks was very good - the mai tai was better than what I had in Hawaii.
Great brunch with excellent service. We'll definitely be back.
Came here for a quiet date night. Made my reservations last minute but was able not to find a table. Very happy that we dined here. Came exclusively for the sushi. Ordered a roll that was off the menu due to items not being available, however the chef was able to make some substitutions. Absolutely amazing. The quality and taste is superb. Would recommend to anyone walking on the street. Definitely will be back again
My husband proposed to me about 100 feet from this restaurant. We were headed there for dinner after a long weekend of Halloween shenanigans. We go back every year around the day that he proposed. This year it was five years since he proposed. The hostess said that we looked nice and asked if it was a special occasion. We told her the story, and she was so sweet and kept congratulating us. A few minutes later, our waitress came out with two glasses of champagne and congratulated us. Our waitress was AMAZING. Seriously one of the sweetest people I had ever met. After our appetizers, the hostess came back with a Lake Tahoe postcard with kind words of congratulations and thank yous for continuing to come back every year. My husband and I both got a little choked up. The staff was so attentive and sweet. As we left, everyone said thank you for spending our anniversary with them. It was such a special night for us, and they made it even more special. I would tell friends/family/strangers to go there. It really was a wonderful experience. We plan to go back soon, not just for our anniversary.
very expensive-small portions.
used to offer Hawaiian fish but that is no longer on menu.
Our service was excellent by Misty
The sea bass was incredible
Management was very grateful and attentive.
