Kalaheo Steak and Ribs Ratings and Reviews
The ONLY suggestion I have is that they offer a wee bit more lettuce with the side salad that comes with meal...especially since adding a bit more romaine to the Caesar shouldn’t break the bank. My husband took one look at it and made a comment. Everything else was superb though!
We enjoyed our visit! Our filet was super tender and yummy. Our baked potato was the best baked potato we've had in a restaurant in years! The salad was a bit skimpy but we shared, so even a big one might not have been too much! Our server was careful to keep her eye on us in case we needed another thing, which we didn't because she anticipated everything so well! We'll put this spot on our map for the next visit to Kauai!
We are in Kauai on vacation for a week. Was excited to try this restaurant after reading the good reviews. It didn’t go well. We were a table of 7. Our waitress was very nice as was the manager but it took an hour to get our food. When it arrived, the 2 steaks that were ordered medium came very well done and were tough. I ordered a hamburger with no jalapeño peppers and the aioli on the side. It came with aioli smothered on the burger with jalapeños on top! Unless they get a new cook, don’t bother with this place.
Nice local steak joint. Eaten there a few times over the years. Always seem to come back because of the value. My last dinner was good but the baked potato was hard. Couldn’t really eat much of it. The prime rib was tasty though. My wife was disappointed as they didn’t have any fish that evening though it is on the menu. Though disappointed She did have steak on her salad instead and that was also tasty.
Very disappointed with our waiter.....he seemed very distracted & was very inattentive despite it being a slow evening......As for food my husband's steak was very undercooked....also your bread portions very miniscule for four diners. It was our first visit and probably wouldn't go back.
We did not enjoy this meal at all. His NY Strip was raw, thin and a poor cut of meat. My filet was cooked properly but dry. The French Onion soup was a small cup of very salty soup with a slice of stale bread and cheese on top, not traditional French Onion soup that you'd expect. Neither dinner plate was hot. I wouldn't recommend this place or go back.
Two hour wait for food! They were very busy and it took forever to get our food. A lot of locals eat here and they really act like they do not need your business, and they probably don't. So if you are a tourist, this may not be the place to eat. Owner came by our table at the end of the meal and apologized for the bad service and gave us a gift certificate for $50 (which paid for our wine). But they really dropped the ball and we will never be going back to this restaurant again.
We were really impressed with the quality and quantity of the filet. We also loved the ribs! Overall, a pretty good value for the island (little more than outback prices as steak houses go, but far far better) and definitely super tasty! Also a super precious little pooch works the lobby. We really enjoyed the food!
The mushroom appetizer was absolutely delicious. The steaks were cooked to perfection, they flavor wonderful, and you could almost cut them with a fork. We definitely recommend this restaurant. The rustic decor and the old pictures of Hawaiian cowboys was most interesting.
The food was tasty. Waithelp tho she was in it she wasn't very discreet. We could hear her conversation with other customers that in my opinion should've been handled with some discretion.
Also, we ordered the fish special. The waitress came to tell us the way it was prepared was different than the way she explained it was when we ordered it. Blamed the kitchen. Immediately after that our dinner came out. Which meant if we didn't want it the way it was prepared everyone else in our party would've gotten their food and I would've eaten alone so I took my dinner the way it was prepared.
We were also asked if there was special occasion, we said 30 years wedding anniversary. I guess we were asked just to be asked.
I have been going to KSR since it opened 4 years ago. The food is consistently good. My favorite is the stuffed pork chop with cottage potatoes. Awesome! Believe it or not but the meatloaf and garlic mashed potatoes are pretty dang good too. Big portions. Wait staff is helpful and friendly. Love this place
We were a group of 10. Would have been perfect if we had a round table for talking, but . . .
Three of us had the Ahi Tuna and it was fantastic. Several had steak and said was good and we had one with fettuccini with shrimp and he said it was the best he ever had.
We didn't have room for dessert, which was too bad. Would have liked to tried something.
I would definitely return and would recommend to friends.
Accommodated a large group easily. Several of our party are vegetarian and still we're able to find options on the menu and kitchen was willing to do mixed veggies with pasta. Beef was excellent, 3 of us ordered prime rib and each was cooked exactly as requested. Great flavor on the beef and local too! Place is slightly dated, but clean and service was good. Will be back for sure.
Food was delicious. We had the sautéed mushrooms, clams, back ribs, filet mignon and our daughter had the Keiki alfredo. Everything was tasty and delicious. The filet mignon was very tiny, tinyer than my fist size.
Server was not that great. We've gone there before and have had her in the past. Same service then as we just had on Father's Day so our lack in service wasn't due to the "occasion". Overall very good, prices are comfortable as well.
We've been here servers times but this occasion was by far the worst service we've had. The server was nice enough but I think there wasn't enough help overall and we did not get checked in often and we had to wait a long time for our food. We'll probably go back again one day but not anytime soon.
Small steak house with cowboy theme. Dee was a wonderful server and very friendly. I loved my New York steak. Cooked perfectly. The prime rib was very tasty too! It's been a while since we have had prime rib out that tasted as good as the ones we make at home. Small dining room which can get a little noisy when people around you drink too much. Over all, it was a great experience and we will go back.
We were disappointed with this place after reading great reviews. There were only 2 waitresses for the entire restaurant, which was obviously not enough. Service was very slow. The food was mediocre, and they announced to us upon arrival a pretty decent list of items they had run out of. My husband had a steak which was good, my meatloaf was very salty. All in all, we wouldn't recommend the restaurant.
