Kalaheo Steak and Ribs Ratings and Reviews
The hostess is always welcoming & friendly. The ONLY waitress is incredible. She is soooo efficient. The bus boy/ waiter is equally efficient. They work well together without having to say much to each other. Food always good with good portions. Good wine selection.
We come to Kauai every year & always have at least one meal here.
The ONLY suggestion I have is that they offer a wee bit more lettuce with the side salad that comes with meal...especially since adding a bit more romaine to the Caesar shouldn’t break the bank. My husband took one look at it and made a comment. Everything else was superb though!
We enjoyed our visit! Our filet was super tender and yummy. Our baked potato was the best baked potato we've had in a restaurant in years! The salad was a bit skimpy but we shared, so even a big one might not have been too much! Our server was careful to keep her eye on us in case we needed another thing, which we didn't because she anticipated everything so well! We'll put this spot on our map for the next visit to Kauai!
We are in Kauai on vacation for a week. Was excited to try this restaurant after reading the good reviews. It didn’t go well. We were a table of 7. Our waitress was very nice as was the manager but it took an hour to get our food. When it arrived, the 2 steaks that were ordered medium came very well done and were tough. I ordered a hamburger with no jalapeño peppers and the aioli on the side. It came with aioli smothered on the burger with jalapeños on top! Unless they get a new cook, don’t bother with this place.
Nice local steak joint. Eaten there a few times over the years. Always seem to come back because of the value. My last dinner was good but the baked potato was hard. Couldn’t really eat much of it. The prime rib was tasty though. My wife was disappointed as they didn’t have any fish that evening though it is on the menu. Though disappointed She did have steak on her salad instead and that was also tasty.
Very disappointed with our waiter.....he seemed very distracted & was very inattentive despite it being a slow evening......As for food my husband's steak was very undercooked....also your bread portions very miniscule for four diners. It was our first visit and probably wouldn't go back.
We did not enjoy this meal at all. His NY Strip was raw, thin and a poor cut of meat. My filet was cooked properly but dry. The French Onion soup was a small cup of very salty soup with a slice of stale bread and cheese on top, not traditional French Onion soup that you'd expect. Neither dinner plate was hot. I wouldn't recommend this place or go back.
Two hour wait for food! They were very busy and it took forever to get our food. A lot of locals eat here and they really act like they do not need your business, and they probably don't. So if you are a tourist, this may not be the place to eat. Owner came by our table at the end of the meal and apologized for the bad service and gave us a gift certificate for $50 (which paid for our wine). But they really dropped the ball and we will never be going back to this restaurant again.
We were really impressed with the quality and quantity of the filet. We also loved the ribs! Overall, a pretty good value for the island (little more than outback prices as steak houses go, but far far better) and definitely super tasty! Also a super precious little pooch works the lobby. We really enjoyed the food!
The mushroom appetizer was absolutely delicious. The steaks were cooked to perfection, they flavor wonderful, and you could almost cut them with a fork. We definitely recommend this restaurant. The rustic decor and the old pictures of Hawaiian cowboys was most interesting.
The food was tasty. Waithelp tho she was in it she wasn't very discreet. We could hear her conversation with other customers that in my opinion should've been handled with some discretion.
Also, we ordered the fish special. The waitress came to tell us the way it was prepared was different than the way she explained it was when we ordered it. Blamed the kitchen. Immediately after that our dinner came out. Which meant if we didn't want it the way it was prepared everyone else in our party would've gotten their food and I would've eaten alone so I took my dinner the way it was prepared.
We were also asked if there was special occasion, we said 30 years wedding anniversary. I guess we were asked just to be asked.
I have been going to KSR since it opened 4 years ago. The food is consistently good. My favorite is the stuffed pork chop with cottage potatoes. Awesome! Believe it or not but the meatloaf and garlic mashed potatoes are pretty dang good too. Big portions. Wait staff is helpful and friendly. Love this place
We were a group of 10. Would have been perfect if we had a round table for talking, but . . .
Three of us had the Ahi Tuna and it was fantastic. Several had steak and said was good and we had one with fettuccini with shrimp and he said it was the best he ever had.
We didn't have room for dessert, which was too bad. Would have liked to tried something.
I would definitely return and would recommend to friends.
