Kajitsu was an outstanding experience! Each course was fantastic as was the tea and saké paired with it. The staff was sweet and knowledgeable. My wife and I can’t wait to return!
Amazing!! Loved it. The tea pairing was great too. Highly recommend!!
I was so excited to eat this incredible food at such a beautiful restaurant! The staff is amazing and the experience was so rich!
Loved it! If you’re looking for a unique dining experience that is plant-based friendly - this is it!
Left the table very full and happy.
A perfect meal - delightful, delectable, beautiful. Highly recommended. Very impressive. Perfect for vegans, vegetarians and omnivores alike.
Kajitsu is amazing!! The food is aesthetically beautiful and the combination and texture of the food tastes amazing!!! The food creations are so unique and stunning. I highly recommend this place.
The food was amazing, service attentive as expected, but they need to work on pacing. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation time, and the first course didn’t come out for nearly another 30 minutes. I would have been ok with the late seating if they had an ala carte menu, however this is a set omakase menu so they should be able to better time service. All in all we were at the restaurant for 2 hours and 45 minutes for a 14 course menu (including dessert). I would come again when they have their timing corrected.
Remarkably prepared vegan Japanese dishes though it’s unlikely anyone would miss a meat dish. Superb service and attentive care. Delicious
This is an Experience! The best meal I have ever had. The traditional Japanese flavors are brought out with amazing skill and practice, and are complimented by the atmosphere and impecabile service. I found the sake and tea pairing to be worth the extra, and the way the drinks complimented the food was mind blowing. I would absolutly recomend Kajitsu if you enjoy traditional Japanese flavors and appreciate the artisty kaiseki requires.
Please respect the dress code! It does distract from the experience when someone walks in with athleisure and a baseball hat.
I will return to try the a la cart menu.
The staff was wonderful, knowledgeable, and gentle, contributing to the relaxing ambiance. Each course of our omakase meal was a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. It was more than a meal, it was an experience. We also paired our meal with the sake pairing which was fantastic. The beauty of the dinnerware was part of that visual feast. True culinary artistry for their cultural roots. I can't wait to experience this again - in a different season! One suggestion: a printed menu of ingredients would be fun for a dining reference - although it is given at the beginning of each course, you're overwhelmed by the beauty of the dish in front of you and it's all forgotten!
Had great experience.
12 different delicious generous courses which were beautifully presented.
The best Shojin cuisine in Manhattan
We had the most amazing culinary experience! The tasting menu was prepared and presented flawlessly. The serving staff spent time explaining the dishes, how they were prepared and even the best way to eat. Highly recommend for any special occasion!
I cannot express how much I love this restaurant. For me, every dinner here feels like a vacation from NYC. The details keep bringing me back, whether is the gorgeous flowers, decorations, ceramic or simply the utensils; every detail is noteworthy. If you fancy fine dining and have yet to visit Kajitsu, book a reservation now!!
This is my favorite restaurant in nyc for a reason! I’ve been coming here for a couple years and tonight’s meal was the best so far!! Ever evolving and ever improving this is a restaurant worth a visit or maybe a few :) I feel like their portioning and pacing is brilliant, some tasting menus at other restaurants I feel either hungry or stuffed afterwards, but at kajitsu I find myself leaving perfectly satisfied. The chef is an incredible thoughtful, talented, and sweet person. If you’re planning on parting with 125$ I hope you part ways with it at Kajitsu and have a fine day!!!
Kajitsu is one of the best restaurant experiences I had in my life. The food is a true enhanced sensory experience and the service is friendly and respectful without overdoing it. Thinking about going every change of the seasons.
Excellent experience from greeting to salutations, the food was fantastic, elegant and delicious
There seem to be two kinds of reviews for Kajitsu:
1) Those from people who like veggies and can't believe how good this food is;
2) Those from people who don't taste it.
I'm a "1" and feel sorry for the "2s."
This is one of the most remarkable places I've ever eaten. Needless to say, we plant to go back, especially since they change the menu every month!!
As to recommending it to a friend? I would to a "1" but who needs to hear it from people who don't appreciate the flavors and textures of supremely fresh veggies!!!
The Food, service and atmosphere were very special,
We had a good time. Thanks
Every visit amazes me. I'm not a vegetarian, but this is my favorite.
My favorite part (besides the food) was the service—- every waiter/waitress there is dedicated to making sure your experience is top notch. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an intimate, unique dining experience or wants to do a food tasting for the first time!
One of my favorite meals ever. Great experience all around!!!
Quiet understated elegance. Crazy delicious food. Even a true carnivore wouldn't miss the meat.
An incredible experience and amazing vegan food. Thank you!
Both service and food are top-notch. The whole omakase menu was very harmonic. All dished worked very well with each other.
Food was well prepared and interesting. Miso soup, corn chowder and soba noodles were our favorite courses. Service started off personable and prompt, but slowed way down over the course of the evening. Total meal time exceeded 3 hours. The room was very quiet, but that only amplified (in my mind, anyway) the very loud talkers a few tables away. I know way more about them than I want to. Kudos to the kitchen for their excellent work!
August "Omakase" manu was exquisite. Each dish was the traditional Japanese ingredients presented in a way we never seen. I am already looking forward to September menu!!
Strange reception area with a togo tea bar belongs to someone else. No waiting area to sit nor stand before dinning room opens.
Food are very photogenic, but mostly no taste. Never describe a restaurant like this. Hate to do it.
Amazing, unique experience. Amazing staff and food
Food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the service was top notch. The staff were very attentive and explained the components of each course and their placement within the progression of the meal. A true gem of a restaurant.
Although the dish and taste and presentation are impressive (vegetarian Japanese kaiseki), the actual primary ingredients are somewhat disappointing. Based on the reviews and its website, the ingredients are a lot more complex and diverse.
During my day to taste, it's very limited. There are a lot more vegetables during August so I would definitely go back if the ingredients can be more diverse.
Great taste of vegetable.
We enjoyed all foods they served at night.
As former vegetarians, my wife and I were really looking forward to an imaginative flavorful vegan meal. Very few of the courses were tasty. Most were bland. A couple were out and out bad. Twice I saw my wife do something I've never seen in our 43 years - spit out food. Pickled eggplant tasted like just raw eggplant. This meal cost $400 for two with drinks for 1. If it was $10 I would have said it was a bad value.
It was simply amazing. My favorite restaurant in nyc, the food I spectacular the pairings are delicious and the service impeccable. If you are looking to escape the speed of NYC for a night and take a vacation within the city, this is the place to go
Lovely vegetarian Japanese cousin. Excellent service.
I love this restaurant! I come every season to enjoy the different seasonal menus. The space and staff are lovely
Quite an interesting experience. Nice pace. Left full after the full chef course with the mixed sake/tea pairing. Had a nice acknowledgment of our second anniversary from the staff.
Kajitsu was an amazing experience, we went early in the evening and it was very calm and quiet but as the night went on it got a bit louder than I'd prefer, but to each their own!
