Kai | Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass Ratings and Reviews
As always dinner was a totally unique experience fit for a special occasion such as our wedding anniversary. The service was impeccable, the food artfully presented, the wine perfectly matched to each course. Memorable evening, anxious to return in the near future.
Excellent food, small portions, expensive. Wine list was also very expensive, although there were a few reasonably-priced gems.
The service is over-the-top obsequious and pretentious. the handwritten card and honey with two tiny muffins for our breakfast left at our room was a nice gesture, but the muffins could have been full-sized, as they are from other restaurants, for the prices they charge. The note, although nice, was also unnecessary.
The meal felt more like a performance than a fine dining experience. The performance overwhelmed the food. The food is good enough to stand on it's own without every detail being explained of every dish.
impeccable!! Amazing meal Every dish was excellent. We went all out with the "Journey" and wine pairing and it was just spectacular. Our 5 year old was with us and we really appreciated being seated in the wine room. He ate all his mac n cheese and behaved completely- thankfully! Can't wait to come back.
If there were more than 5 stars I would be giving them! We arrived and were greeted immediately. Sent to the very comforting little bar to await our table being prepared. I had a refreshing cocktail accented with clove! We were promptly taken to our table and met our server/servers. We did the 13 course Journey and I suggest everyone do it for your first time so you can try it all. Yes, it was pricey. But as far as the menu as a whole we found the prices to be quite reasonable for such a nice place. Our favorites surprised us as they were the pumpkin squash soup, the escargot and the Lamb. But really everything tasted amazing and it was so nice having such polite servers, their knowledge of the food and the history of the natives was fascinating. This was so much more than just going out to dinner. It truly was a romantic, exciting, educational experience that my husband and I will never forget! We will most definitely be back. And would like to thank the whole staff for making it so much fun and interesting for us.
Probably a little too "foody" and froufrou for our tastes but nonetheless very nice. The food was gorgeously presented and every bite was different. But I'm afraid we're probably a little more the Streak 44 kinda people. The display (sorry, no spoiler) after the meal was actually one of the highlights. Free valet service had the car ready to go when we left and the little gift in the car was a nice touch.
The Kai is my favorite dining experience. From the hand painted water colors that grace the menu covers to the retelling of the Pima beliefs they represent- each moment feels like a gift graciously bestowed. I fully relax and emerge myself in the rituals from the sorbet to the steaming herbal aromatics.
The food never disappoints and Kevin is my favorite waiter.
OH my goodness! Fabulous experience. And yes, a culinary experience! We have dined around the world and I’m thinking Kai is my new favorite restaurant- in the world. We had the bison. Excellent food. Excellent service. And if you valet park, a special treat awaits. I could go on and on. Just go- experience Kai for yourself. Not inexpensive- but worth every dime!
As usual it was a wonderful experience from the beginning to the end. The service is top notch. From the very beginning when they greet you and until the very end when you leave they treat you as if you’re the only one in the restaurant. The food is always amazing. The Buffalo tenderloin was the best I’ve ever had. Jackson was attentive to every detail. Although different people bring out your food each of them understand the symbolism and the reasoning for all of the ingredients
The meal was a beautiful journey and the service was excellent.
The noxious perfume pumps in the lobby severely hampered the experience. I understand that they are managed by two different companies but given that there is no smoking in the lobby, I would think that a treaty could be made to honor those who are passing through on their way to a gastric experience.
The ambiance was okay-ish and left little impression. Which could be the point.
Regarding all the spiderwebs in the canned lights above us- we were trying to figure out if it was an intentional honoring of Grandmother-spider or if it was an oversight.
The occasional passing of natural herb incense was a delight.
The most amazing dining experience of any fine restaurant we have ever been to! A must on your bucket list!! We came to Kai for an Anniversary dinner. From the minute we stepped out of our vehicle, it was like having a personal team of concierge service through the whole dinner! There are surprises, history, culture and we didn't even have to do anything. The attention to detail is amazing! With only 16 tables in the restaurant, the process of changing the tables for the next guest is even intriguing to watch; they iron a perfect, crisp, table cloth. A wine sommelier as well as a 3:1 ratio of servers to guests ensures every need is met. We tried three courses, a butternut squash soup, a lobster prepared three ways, with a main course of duck and Tribal Buffalo! Being a big steak fan and even eating at the world famous Peter Lugers in Brooklyn, the Tribal Buffalo is my favorite dish, period! Stop reading this post and go make a reservation.... it is worth every Benjamin! : )
This place was above and beyond expectations. I have never had service at this level and it was a joy to watch how in sync this team of staff is as they share in serving the tables. I food is sourced locally and is out of this world good! I highly recommend them and hope to return many times!
We've heard of certain meals being life-changing, but this may be the only time we've experienced it. It's almost a religious experience. We got there as the sun was setting to experience the full beauty of the light over the mountains and in the beautiful dining room. The food was spectacular, visually as well as in taste and concept. Service was impeccable. They offered so many surprises and embellishments that the price almost seemed like a steal.
This was a beautiful, visceral experience. We have never had a meal quite like this before. Such a thoughtful presentation. The staff was just present enough to anticipate our needs and both informed about the unique aspects of Kai and well- schooled in culinary arts. It was a magical evening and hard to describe. Go.
Great experience. You get the sense they aspire for Michelin Stars. We had the Journey tasting menu and it did not disappoint
I had the wine pairings and found the overall selections were far to sweet for my taste
A major highlight was the musician playing flute and guitar in the adjoining bar space perfect volume and lovely sound
Highly recommend as a unique treat
Fair warning not easy to find with GPS/Uber
By far the best culinary experience I’ve had. I’ve eaten all over the world and this was in my top three experiences. The staff was knowledgeable. The food was cunning and flavorful and beyond original. The wines were ridiculous. I love everything about this place and the hefty price tag aside it’s worth the money and I’m going back. Amazing. Couldn’t be happier.
Return visit to experience the food and service provided by this unique restaurant. Food options are interesting and all exceptionally prepared and presented. Service is detailed and extensive which makes for a lengthy evening, but allows for some needed spacing between courses to gather yourself and appreciate you are not being rushed for another seating. Seasonal pumpkin/gourd soup was a nice start. Grouper cheeks were presented with some spicy seasoning and accompaniments to continue the meal. Fresh "hebi"(short billed spearfish) was a nice change of pace from typical seafood options and was enjoyed by more than one at the table. Cheese selections for dessert were a pleasant ending to a wonderful meal. There are only a handful of locations around town that provide this level of thoughtful food and service. Kai becomes differentiated by incorporating native and traditional ingredients into the process. With a price point at the top of the scale it becomes a place for occasional celebrations and not a typical night out, but well worth it.
We travel quite regularly and have been in some fine dining restaurants from New York City to Maui and a friend of ours recommended KAI for our anniversary. It was all that he said and more. The food was customized to dietary needs and was from local sources. The food was OUTSTANDING and the meal was like a travel log learning about local native american cuisine. The atmosphere was ideal and the wait staff was a fine tuned machine of service to the patrons.
We were delightfully surprised with the arrival of every course. Wonderful experience. We will go back. The total experience was capped off when we got back to our car from the valet. Our vehicle had two quality bottles of water, a small desert in a gift box and a nice note thanking us for dining with them from our waiter. They really know how to treat diners.
Kai never disappoints! My brother and I love dining there and we are always welcomed with smiles and great service!!! The bartenders are the best. They go out of their way to find you the perfect drink you crave and the food is fantastic! Our waiter , Kevin , is outstanding ! All of the service staff is outstanding ! Because at Kai, you don’t just get one service you get a bunch who are so knowledgeable and friendly. Can’t wait to go back!!!
We're out-of-towners - from Show Low, Arizona - but we've wanted to visit Kai since we first read about it 4-5 years ago. We thought perhaps the change in food critics from the Arizona Republic from a traditionalist - Howard Seftel - to a "millennial" - Dominic Armato - might alter the review level, but when both gentlemen raved, it only reinforced our decision to try it.
Our experience was, in two words, beyond memorable! The food was delectable; the service was superb; the setting was delightful. The entire experience was a cut above anything else we've ever experienced! Where else do you get a hand-written note from your serving crew thanking you for your visit delivered to your vehicle when you retrieve it? Admittedly, it was our first experience with AAA 5-star dining, but it's hard to imagine anything topping this experience.
If there was any downside, it was that it was at times, I had difficulty hearing our wait staff explaining the details of the following course, but then again, I wear hearing aids, so it might have been that, in the emotion of the moment. I should have adjusted them , and didn't!
We'll be back!!
