Kai | Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass Ratings and Reviews
This was a beautiful, visceral experience. We have never had a meal quite like this before. Such a thoughtful presentation. The staff was just present enough to anticipate our needs and both informed about the unique aspects of Kai and well- schooled in culinary arts. It was a magical evening and hard to describe. Go.
Great experience. You get the sense they aspire for Michelin Stars. We had the Journey tasting menu and it did not disappoint
I had the wine pairings and found the overall selections were far to sweet for my taste
A major highlight was the musician playing flute and guitar in the adjoining bar space perfect volume and lovely sound
Highly recommend as a unique treat
Fair warning not easy to find with GPS/Uber
By far the best culinary experience I’ve had. I’ve eaten all over the world and this was in my top three experiences. The staff was knowledgeable. The food was cunning and flavorful and beyond original. The wines were ridiculous. I love everything about this place and the hefty price tag aside it’s worth the money and I’m going back. Amazing. Couldn’t be happier.
Return visit to experience the food and service provided by this unique restaurant. Food options are interesting and all exceptionally prepared and presented. Service is detailed and extensive which makes for a lengthy evening, but allows for some needed spacing between courses to gather yourself and appreciate you are not being rushed for another seating. Seasonal pumpkin/gourd soup was a nice start. Grouper cheeks were presented with some spicy seasoning and accompaniments to continue the meal. Fresh "hebi"(short billed spearfish) was a nice change of pace from typical seafood options and was enjoyed by more than one at the table. Cheese selections for dessert were a pleasant ending to a wonderful meal. There are only a handful of locations around town that provide this level of thoughtful food and service. Kai becomes differentiated by incorporating native and traditional ingredients into the process. With a price point at the top of the scale it becomes a place for occasional celebrations and not a typical night out, but well worth it.
We travel quite regularly and have been in some fine dining restaurants from New York City to Maui and a friend of ours recommended KAI for our anniversary. It was all that he said and more. The food was customized to dietary needs and was from local sources. The food was OUTSTANDING and the meal was like a travel log learning about local native american cuisine. The atmosphere was ideal and the wait staff was a fine tuned machine of service to the patrons.
We were delightfully surprised with the arrival of every course. Wonderful experience. We will go back. The total experience was capped off when we got back to our car from the valet. Our vehicle had two quality bottles of water, a small desert in a gift box and a nice note thanking us for dining with them from our waiter. They really know how to treat diners.
Kai never disappoints! My brother and I love dining there and we are always welcomed with smiles and great service!!! The bartenders are the best. They go out of their way to find you the perfect drink you crave and the food is fantastic! Our waiter , Kevin , is outstanding ! All of the service staff is outstanding ! Because at Kai, you don’t just get one service you get a bunch who are so knowledgeable and friendly. Can’t wait to go back!!!
We're out-of-towners - from Show Low, Arizona - but we've wanted to visit Kai since we first read about it 4-5 years ago. We thought perhaps the change in food critics from the Arizona Republic from a traditionalist - Howard Seftel - to a "millennial" - Dominic Armato - might alter the review level, but when both gentlemen raved, it only reinforced our decision to try it.
Our experience was, in two words, beyond memorable! The food was delectable; the service was superb; the setting was delightful. The entire experience was a cut above anything else we've ever experienced! Where else do you get a hand-written note from your serving crew thanking you for your visit delivered to your vehicle when you retrieve it? Admittedly, it was our first experience with AAA 5-star dining, but it's hard to imagine anything topping this experience.
If there was any downside, it was that it was at times, I had difficulty hearing our wait staff explaining the details of the following course, but then again, I wear hearing aids, so it might have been that, in the emotion of the moment. I should have adjusted them , and didn't!
We'll be back!!
My twin sister and I came here to celebrate our 50th birthday. We had the most wonderful evening! From the moment we were greeted till we got in our car after dinner, the was service spectacular! The restaurant is very welcoming and comfortable. It is filled with Native American original art. We ordered the short story tasting menu with wine pairings. This was an almost 3 hour journey in beautiful, artfully presented food that is unique in every way. WOW! We were served the most delicious food, seriously! The wine pairings were thoughtful and matched each dish perfectly. I realize I've used many exclamation points, but please know, they were all earned for a most memorable evening celebrating a momentous birthday.
I have no words to describe this place and do it justice. Forget that I’m a celiac. I have never..... I mean ever, had a meal that looked and tasted as wonderful! I travel everywhere in the US and all over the world. I put this place top 3. We are talking NYC, Vegas, Miami, LA, London, France, Japan... etc!
Outstanding service! I have told at least five other people this week about the excellent service and food. The staff at Kai completely understand how to provide guests with an unbelievable dining experience. This is one of the best restaurants I've gone to in Phoenix!
We always enjoy Kai's wonderful authentic food, cooked to perfection and served by experienced professionals in comfortable surroundings. The wine selection is without peer and the sommelier is always able to suggest just the right wine to go with dinner. The BEST restaurant in Arizona!
We went to Kai for our anniversary. Everything was absolutely perfect. The food and staff were impeccable and the pace of our dinner was just right. We were enlightened and pampered throughout the evening. It simply just does not get any better than this. A memorable experience.
What a great evening. Jeremie, our waiter, told us the story of the restaurant, the Chef and about the native Pima Indian origin of the menu items. Service was outstanding as was the presentation of the items we chose for dinner. The food, almost needless to say, was outstanding as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at KAI and will plan to return soon. They are indeed a five star restaurant!
It's a full experience from the Grammy award winning flute player to the original art on menus, the very educated staff that shares information about about the Maricopa and Pima Indians and the land, and then the unbelievably interesting and creative dishes offered.
One of the few best restaurants I've been to in the US (or anywhere)...an experience curated to impress and treat you from start to finish. It started with the complimentary valet parking at the resort's grand entrance and ended with a surprise hand-written thank-you card and gift box with muffins and locally-made jam. But in between was the real magic - incredible cocktails, local southwest native-american "inspired" (more like French with a hint of native-american) food that was both unique, inventive, and amazing. While the dishes are expensive, you don't have to order many to leave full, given the additional amuse-bouche, bread, palette-cleansing sorbet, and desert courses...so overall, the value for the money felt more than fair: a special dining experience that was 'special-occasion' expensive but not astronomical. (They do offer a 14-course tasting menu with wine paring for $375/person, so you could also choose to spend a fortune.) The dining room is spacious, beautiful, and quiet. The service was virtually perfection - courses were timed well, food presented carefully, explanations informative and well rehearsed. It's a relatively formal fine-dining experience that is hard to find these days (for better or worse). Kai is trying hard to impress -- maybe even a little too hard: with menus featuring hand-drawn local artwork, lengthy explanations of local native american food cultivation, and extremely eager-to-please service, some will probably find it over-the-top. But I loved it and would HIGHLY recommend it for people who like fine dining and french-based food with unusual twists.
