Kai | Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass Ratings and Reviews
A true dining experience! One of a kind. The incorporation of the Native American culture, the amazing attentive service and the outstanding preparation and presentation of the food just made it amazing. Thanks to Feliciano for guiding us through everything, from the presentation of the menus (each a work of art) to the truffles at the end. Thanks to Kevin for helping us select an outstanding Arizona wine that was so good with our meal. So many things to write (bread service, bison tenderloin, Guatemalan coffee brewed at the table, aromatics at the end) that I can't do justice to them all. Just go. You will not be disappointed.
We go to a nice restaurant every year for our anniversary. Hands down this was the best experience, best service, and the best food we have enjoyed. The layers of flavors in every dish are truly indescribable. The staff took time to explain every dish by describing the ingredients and the thoughts behind the combination. They answered our questions and offered suggestions when asked. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful dinner and a memorable evening.
Absolutely breath-taking meal! Probably the best of my life. Kai is like no dining experience you've ever had. From the impeccable service to the magnificent flavor combinations to the beautiful plating to the unbelievable view (go before sunset!), this is an unparalleled dining experience. You will indulge in foods you've never before heard of, try flavors you can't imagine in your wildest dreams, and be treated like royalty for the entirety of your meal. We didn't want to leave at the end of the meal! Kai will now live at the very top of my "special occasion meal" list. If you're a foodie and you haven't been to Kai, GO. You'll thank me. Trust me.
Our dining experience at Kai was superb. Feliciano was a very knowledgeble, personable, and attentive server. The attention to detail was amazing and the unique flavor combinations in the dishes were interesting and delicious. The wine list was extensive and we enjoyed a delicious Arizona wine. We felt that the prices, while high, were appropriate. The setting was beautiful, and views from our table as the sun was setting were picture postcard perfect. We were served a complimentary chocolate soufflé dessert in celebration of our anniversary, and found water bottles and a complimentary gift in the car as we left. Our dinner at Kai was a perfect way to celebrate a special occasion.
Our group of 5 had a fantastic and memorable dining experience at Kai. The service staff were patient and had immense attention to detail. Jeremy (I think that was his name) welcomed us , gave the history of the place and explained each dish patiently. Highly recommend for celebrating special occasions.
Dinner was more like a culinary and sensory experience than a meal. Food and presentation were sensational.
The service is exceptional... I love the "Russian-style" where everyone is served at the same time. Our waiter Kevin is a true gem and would be reason enough to come back time and time again. He is not only well versed in regards to everything on the menu but also adds a personal touch throughout the entire meal. We cannot say enough wonderful things about the experience or for that matter Kevin!!!!
Kai ......please keep Kevin around for as long as possible please. He is a true asset to your establishment.
One of the most amazing meals I have ever had. Comparable with the best of NYC, SF, Chicago. The service was impeccable. The food has matured over the years into a perfect marriage of ancient ingredients and modern techniques. Truly an experience not offered anywhere else in the world.
The Journey tasting menu at Kai is one of my favorite ways to celebrate a special occasion, so we indulged there for my birthday last week. The service is truly unrivaled, and the special treats they leave you with are the cherry on top. Hand-written cards from your server thanking you for stopping in? Check. They even tucked an extra box in my bag of leftovers that read "surprise birthday dessert."
I fly down from Alaska for my birthday dinner at Kai each year, and I'll continue coming back. Thanks to Kevin and Jeremy for amazing service year after year!
I am so glad that I gave this 5 star, 5 diamond restaurant a try. I decided to pamper my Father for Father's Day and had a day at Aji Spa followed by dinner at Kai. It was by far the most magical experience I've ever had while dining. My Father is a restaurateur, 30+ years, who is also a chef and a wine maker, so he was completely blown away with the infusion of flavors, the presentation and the remarkable wine list. Special points that they served Portuguese wine, because we are both Portuguese and my Father actually had been to both vineyards that the wine was from. Our wine connoisseur at our table was very knowledgeable and his pronunciation on the grapes and vineyards was on point, remarkable for him not speaking the Portuguese language. We had an amazing server by the name of Kevin, he really made the experience extra delightful and I cannot wait to return.
The area is quiet and dimly lit, it's perfect for intimate evenings. The portions are small but incredibly filling, believe me when I say I could barely move after the appetizer portion. They explain all of the ingredients to you, and if artwork was food this would be it.
I loves the surprises they throw in at the end, won't tell you what they are but you get two! Make sure to valet your car and they will validate it for you.
Thank you Kai for making a daughter's attempt for the perfect Father's Day a magical dream come true.
Exceptional experience from beginning to end. From the complimentary valet parking as you arrive to the treats left in your car as you depart you will know that this is more that just going to a restaurant. The food is extraordinary and celebrates the local environment and native culture of the area. The service is calmly and quietly efficient and our server clearly enjoyed explaining that connection between the food, the land, and the native culture that ties the experience all together. Save up your money for a special occasion and go. You will feel welcomed, pampered, and remarkably satisfied.
Food was over-the-top innovative cuisine. Service was top notch. I would rank this with some of the top restaurants in the country in service, preparation, taste, innovation, uniqueness. I have been to restaurants like La Bernardin and I woulds rank an experience at Kai up there with that level establishment. Very different feel southwest / Native American vs. upscale NYC, but both are special places.
Dining at Kai was a dining adventure. The service is impeccable. Everthing about the menu choices is explained in detail. The food was outstanding. The combination of flavors just melts in your mouth. I had the duck and my husband had the Elk tenderloin. Local and native american ingredients are beautifully blended. The presentation is very artistic. Even the 3 types of bread were so different and outstanding. It was a memorable experience.
Having dinned at some of the best restaurants in the US and perhaps the world, I would rank this as one of my favorites. This isn't your fancy steak house with a steak seasoned with salt and pepper. This places uses unique spices and dishes are very nicely seasoned. Hence this will always be a favorite of mine. This is an absolute must if you enjoy fine dinning in Phoenix. The story, lore and foremost the food behind this restaurant is fantastic. Allow about 2-2.5 hours on average for a a la carte dinning experience.
This was our second trip to Kai, this time for our 30th anniversary. Kai is a true "fine dining" experience. The food was exceptional. The service is impeccable. I'm impressed by how knowledgeable the wait staff is on recipes, ingredients, sources, and how willing they are to spend time and share information. Kai is somewhat more expensive but it's worth it for a special occasion.
This was our 4th time to dine at Kai and we planned our trip itenerary around this reservation. We were disappointed with the Chef's choices for the full Journey menu - it was an explosion of exotic flavors but with no true thought to the continuity of the overall dining experience. Beautiful presentations but unfortunately no course was totally outstanding - very disappointing when you expend over $900 for two for a dinner with wine paring.
Kai is the best dining experience I have ever had. It rivals any upscale restaurant in NY or LA. The atmosphere is tranquil, especially the back dining room. The presentation of the food was perfect. Each course building on the next. The soup was the perfect starter, followed by a small plate of lobster with various preparations. My entree was the NY Strip and it was delectable and the perfect temperature. I doubt I will ever be able to eat at Outback. My husband had the buffalo which was equally great. We spent 3 hours there but I never noticed it because it was like we were being told a story that we never wanted to end. Ofcourse it all comes at a pretty penny (about $100-120 per person) but it was worth every cent. This will surely be a stop on my annual visit.
