Kafe' Kokopelli Ratings and Reviews
We tried Kafe Kokopelli for the first time and really enjoyed it! We each tried something different and it was all good! I had the reuben. The meat was tender and flavorful. We all tried the she crab soup...it was wonderful!!! Others in my party had meatloaf, prime rib sandwich and cuban sandwich. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We will definitely be back!!!
Love to come here for special occasions and just for a night out. We drive from Spring Hill and always order the she crab soup. It's the best! Tonight's occasion was my husband's birthday. Unfortunately we didn't save room for the banana's foster (another favorite of ours). Oh well, guess we'll just have to come back soon!. Our waiter Saturday night, in the bar area, was excellent! Played right along with all of our jokes, wise cracks and sarcastic remarks. He made sure my husband had a birthday dessert though even though we said we were stuffed! Thank you. We'll be back soon for soup and dessert!
Food was very good, especially liked the house made potato chips. Perhaps a little over salted, but tasty and crunchy. Food was served promptly and Meg (server) pointed out portion of my plate might be hot. Nice attention to details. Have eaten here before, and had the feeling the management might have changed
Will return and recommend food and beverages. Bloody Mary was just the right accompaniment for my Reuben.
Nearly all of us noted that our food was barely warm. That applies to both warm/"hot" appetizers like the brie, fried green tomatoes and bisque, and to the entrees. I don't know if they sat before they were brought to the table or were just produced that way by the kitchen, but it was probably the most noteworthy aspect of the meal. It definitely affected everyone's reception and the consensus was that while we may not avoid the restaurant, nobody was in hurry to return.
Food was not good for the price is should be exceptional. 30$grouper.30$ prime rib. If it was good food price would be fine. food was not modern at all dated and just not a good experience. Wife had prime rib was dry and just seemed old. Won't be making the drive back.
We sat in the dining room with the fireplace. Quirky decor but the a/c wasn't working or something. A bit too warm and sweating during my meal is not preferred inside. My husband ordered sliced tomatoes on his Cesar salad and they were well past ripe. Always a bad sign when the kitchen lets mushy sliced tomatoes go out to a customer. Not to mention $7 for this salad of no extraordinary ingredients or flavor, below average. The restaurant was not full but we waited a considerable amount of time. Only when we inquired we're we informed the kitchen was backed up. The food was decent but nothing to make it memorable or desiring to return.
Great restaurant tucked away in Dade City!! Fun and kitschy decor with lots of seating for couples or sm/larger groups- tables and booths. Ken our waiter was very personable & knowledgeable which added to the experience. He answered questions and gave great suggestions. Great service!! The menu has a lot of variety and the best thing was the (much more options than many places) GLUTEN FREE menu!!! Because they make things to order and are not pre-made they have more control what they can do. I had the GF Ruben Sandwich. I can't tell you the last time I had an amazing GF sandwich, Kafe Kokopelli knocked it out of the park. They figured out how to keep the bread toasty and crisp which is often a challenge w/GF bread. They have full menu w/ appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts, craft beers/drinks. I would recommend Kafe Kokopelli for any occasion and will return often!!
The atmosphere was fun. The waiter (Kurt) was great and funny! The bar was lively but the food was disappointing. Chicken in the Chicken Marsala was very tough. A pretty bland dish. This was my first visit and I would go back to have drinks and enjoy the entertainment but not to eat.
Nice atmosphere! I was disappointed with there lack of vegetarian food. The watriess said that they could do a veggie dish with quinoa but only had spinach, asparagus, green beans, and mushrooms. They need some normal food on their menu. Im surprised that they stay open in Dade City with a menu like that. Beautiful place though!
I have started going back more..had not been in a few years...but the lunch prices are reasonable, its not so dark and dusty anymore. Dinner still a bit high for my taste..but I will certainly continue to recommend it to my out of town friends for lunches and happy hours!
We decided upon Dade City for a place to meet a friend for lunch, and had found pretty positive reviews of the Kafe'. We were stunned with how much we liked this place, in terms of ambience, menu options and a good wine list. I would expect such a restaurant in Tampa, but this is a very good dining option in the heart of Dade City. We could select a items from a lunch menu, or anything off the dinner menu as well. Our selections were uniformly excellent and service was provided by an amiable server. Full bar here, in fact, the bar is very cool and spacious. This place is a great find and we will return.
The restaurant has a lot of character; we loved the eclectic decor. A very busy place for dinner so reservations are a must. It took a bit of time for our dinner to be ready. My chicken parmesan was slightly overcooked and the pasta too al dente for me but still very tasty. My husband had the prime rib while our friends had the rueben with egg sandwich & home made chips and the salmon salad. They all loved their choices. Will go back again and try something new.
The atmosphere is warm and cozy. The decor is similar to sitting in one of the antique shops down the street. It's fun, light-hearted, and whimsical. The owner is always smiling as he greets you. The service staff is attentive but overly so where they feel intrusive.
I have a rare food allergy that requires a bit of extra care and both the front and back of house do an excellent job making sure that everything is done well so I won't have to worry. A rarity in food service, and one that I appreciate.
The pricing is in line with a more upscale establishment but the food delivers so you won't feel as though you've been fleeced. I recommend this location for everyone - date night, guests in town, special event, or you just don't feel like cooking.
Enjoy - you won't be disappointed.
We actually started our evening at Beef O'Bradys; after waiting 15 minutes and not having anyone give us a 2nd glance, we made a last minute reservation at KK. We were greeted with a smile, seated immediately, and our server arrived within 2 minutes of sitting down. The food was incredible, the atmosphere was perfect as always, and the service was IMPECCABLE!
Thanks to Beef O'Bradys for being crappy that night and giving us a perfect date elsewhere!
we had a very enjoyable, quiet lunch...we were seated by the fireplace, so it was very pretty..It was quiet, so we could converse easily...all very nice. There were a couple of items that you didn't have, but not that big a deal..you were out of these items
I had heard such great things about kokopellis. appearance is awesome. service is awesome. food that night was very mediocre. chicken Parmesan was overly large fried piece of butterflied chicken then dunked in sauce put on the plate and cheese scattered on top. fish tacos were very hot pieces of fish plopped down on the cabbage salad so much so that cabbage turned very wilted and mushy and turned the tortilla mushy underneath. 2 HUGE pieces of meatloaf the was so salty it couldn't be eaten. the hamburger was the entree of the evening. it was moist and cooked perfectly and had lots of good flavor.
in this time of so many new restaurants opening up, you have to make every meal great. this was not.
We drove from Tampa and had a great time..Two of our party of six had birthdays..There were so many good things on the appetizer list that I made a meal out of 4 of them with a salad.. .We ordered the Bananas Foster for dessert and everything was delicious! Our waiter was a lot of fun and very helpful..I can hardly wait to come back this winter when the fireplaces will be lit.
