Great selection of food options. Our waitress was efficient and helpful on a busy Mother's Day evening.
Love, love the fresh salads! The scallops were delicious, and the service was excellent.
Kafe 421 is always a lovely place to take guests. I appreciate their wide range of dishes and polite and attentive service. We celebrated Mother’s Day early here and my parents - who can sometimes have trouble hearing - were so pleased that it was quiet enough to have a nice conversation.
The food is consistently outstanding and the service is fast and very friendly. The menu has some very creative dishes that you don't see anywhere else near campus.
We visited this restaurant while our kids were playing tennis on campus. The owner and her husband were very friendly and hospitable! We had several appetizers and wine, which were very good. We’re so glad to have found this restaurant!
High quality FRESH ingredients, carefully prepared. Interesting choices, excellent spices. We got our meal in less than 10 minutes, and were able to enjoy it before having to get back to the office.
I loved the Saffron chicken and whole table enjoyed the Caesar salad. My friend enjoyed the salmon dish and ate every morsel. Husbands thought pasta special was great & we could not pass up the Baklava... I was sad I had to share it with 3 others 🙂Turned out to be a busy night with a large party, yet our waitress was amazing and there was no waiting. I can’t wait to go back!
I’d recommend Kafe 421 for any occasion! It’s a cute, comfortable place with great food and excellent happy hour and date night specials. The eggplant Parmesan, mussels, eggplant dip and artichoke dip are among my favorites but you really can’t go wrong with anything. Oh, and try their tomato soup and baklava—yum!
Kafe 421 never disappoints. Tasty and creative salads are the best
This has been a special restaurant for us since it opened. We like quiet meals for just the two of us and we also like to share it with friends and our family.
Delicious greek salad with shrimp! Also loved the "spreads" appetizer - very delicious.
We decided to try Kafe 421 after reading a review. The food was very good, the service great, and at a reasonable price. The parking, however, was a big problem. There is no parking lot, and since the restaurant is near the University, on street parking is at a minimum...especially if there is something special happening. I would definitely go again, but maybe not on a weekend.
We loved the menu including wonderful authentic Greek options. Excellent service, pleasant surroundings. The happy hour wine was delicious at a great price. I appreciated the glutenfree choices. Fresh, delicious food!
Delicious, reasonably priced and artistically presented food in a welcoming and relaxed environment. . One of our favorite restaurants, quite a gem.
We were significantly late for our reservation because finding parking was a bit of a challenge on a Saturday night in Dinkeytown. When we walked in, we apologized for being late and explained the situation. Next thing we know, Kafe 421 is serving us an appetizer of pita and hummus to make up for the difficulty finding parking. Now THAT is superb service. The food at the restaurant is great, and the prices are reasonable. The menu clearly has Greek roots and I wish they would embrace that more with a few more traditional dishes. Still, a neighborhood gem. Highly recommend.
The spanakopeta and vegetarian mousaka were delicious. Had reservations and were seated right away.
Cafe 421 is always me first choice for an enjoyable meal before a Northrop ballet.
If there are more capable restauranteurs in Minneapolis, I haven't found them. This restaurant feels like a small town eatery in a big city. The atmosphere is wonderful, the food is splendid, and the service is welcoming. I have never been disappointed dining in this marvelous gem of a restaurant.
Another great evening and dinner at Kafe 421. A hidden gem in Dinkytown. Doesn’t look like much from the outside but these guys get it right every time. We’ve been a few times and will be back it’s great!
Great food and great people!
Never disappoints. Always yummy!! Great food choices for all palettes.
Excellent food at a reasonable price. Nice location within Dinkytown, easy to get to from either Minneapolis or St Paul
We have been several times and up until the most recent have been very happy with the experience. But, the last visit was a disappointment. The food remains very good in quality of products used, but we were not happy with the preparation. The Saffron Chicken is described as "in a saffron white wine broth". We did not taste any saffron, white wine, or broth, it was sitting in a pool of what tasted only of butter. Far too rich to eat as a meal. I do know that butter is usually an ingredient in white wine sauce, but it should not be the only thing you taste. Service was fine until the end, then a big miss. We were looking forward to dessert having eyed a couple items served at the table next to us, but right after our dinner plates were cleared, the server (who had been pretty good until this point) slapped the check on the table without a word. Very odd as we had been pleasant to her throughout, there still were a couple of hours until closing, and the tables were half vacant, so not like they needed to rush anyone out. Also, we were seated in the front for the first time which is far more crowded than the tables in the back.
This was our 1st visit. We enjoyed a Hungarian wine. We ordered an appetizer of hummus. We ordered entrees of bouillabaisse and stuffed pork chop. Both entrees were delicious. The asparagus with the pork chop was wonderfully cooked. Just right. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. Service was timely and efficient. We chose to sit at the bar, which is roomy with plenty of rooms for plates and glasses. We give it the highest marks and would go back.
We had a wonderful lunch at Kafe 421!
We love 421
We have been coming to see Georgia and her husband Jim for years.
We love them and love their food. A great place in Dinkytown.
Great for a pre and post game meal.
A hidden gem and worth the drive from anywhere in the cities.
I had been to Kafe 421 twice before for a glass of wine and an appetizer. I suggested that a few of my sisters and I try it for a girls lunch. It was delightful! My other sisters heard about it and we all went 2 weeks later. My favorite new spot. Food is WONDERFUL.
Great food and great service. Prices were reasonable and menu selection was fun. Definitely recommend to all wanting a semi casual, fun night out. We will be back.
The food was excellent as was the service which is exactly what I experience every time I have a meal there. I don't know how the owners would improve upon what is already firmly in place. Thanks for asking.
great food, very accommodating (let me order off the set menu due to upset tummy), great server. we have been several times and have never been disappointed in any aspect of this restaurant.
We enjoyed our dinner at Kafe 421. We had never been there before, so we were pleasantly surprised to have such a nice meal. The service was excellent, and our order came quickly. Everything was delicious!
Fabulous meal and service! I would recommend Kafe 421 for any occasion.
Fabulous food! Best meal I have had in a long time (Scallops with Mango salsa and artichokes)
Best restaurant in Dinkytown. Not too fancy, not too informal either. Quiet ambience is great for dates or business meals. Every menu item I have tried is excellent. $30 menu for two on Tuesday nights is a great bargain.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. I always order the Harvest Salad. I have taken bites of other menu items that my dining companions have had. Flavors are always robust and presentation is pleasing. Enjoy!
Our first time. We made a reservation but still had to wait 10-15 minutes for a table. Not a problem but, if you were on a tight schedule, it could be an issue. Food was good. Had stuffed grape leaves as an appetizer and one of the best we have had. Would have liked to see more Greek options. Overall, a good experience. Waitpeople were very helpful and friendly. We would return.
Warm greeting and ease as party slowly arrived. Friendly wait staff. Variety of foods to select from. We enjoyed the evening. Thank you
Post Valentine dinner. Food was good, had a sampler appetizer. The funniest item was the chicken “satay”. This is a Mediterranean restaurant and the taste from the grill was delightful- but not anything like Thai satay ;-). The feta and artichoke spread, tztziki and Greek meatballs were delightful. I had the vegetarian moussaka, and my date had the rack of lamb. Both very good (and flavorful) with a nice presentation.
Everything we ordered was fabulous. The Harvest Salad which is so good on its own, and the steak we ordered with it was perfectly cooked and made a filling meal in itself. The saffron chicken was great as was the appetizer platter. We love this place!
