Every dish that we ordered was great. The food came out fast, the wine was delicious, and the atmosphere was lively. Staff was on top of things and the live music was fun.

Favorite Eastern European restaurant in the city.
I love the braised lamb, which literally melts in your mouth, but the sausages and the cevapi are also delicious. The salads are simple but super fresh and tasty.
The roasted bell pepper dip (I can never recall the name of it) they serve with the bread while you wait for your food is very yummy.

Not many vegetarian options unfortunately but the meatless baked beans were phenomenal. A great list of orange wines as well.

I live in the neighborhood and have been coming here for years but not so often. I want to like KAFANA more but the staff almost always acts as if they are being put out. Food is very good and excellent value which is what brings there on occasion.

Place is nice and food is amazing.
However tables are small and very close to each other, which makes it noisy and the back of your chair is touching the one behind you.
Service was ok (if you don't mind waiting 20 min for someone to take your order) but no one told us that we had to pay cash (no sign, note or a verbal notification), so we had to waste time going to a near by ATM, then break the money...

The experience was excellent! The food was delicious and the entire experience made me feel fonder of my Serbian girlfriend. It all was wonderful!

Only negative is cash only which is u acceptable.

We were NOT informed that our reservation has hour and a half limitation, since there was new reservations after and we were instructed to leave the place after one hour od being there, so we were basically kicked out on New Years eve. For half an hour waitresses were sitting next to our table, arguing, folding table cloths and preparing for celebration, like the staff were alone and it was really unpleasant for us.

Kafana was a great introduction to Serbian food. The Prebranac was delicious, and we tried some orange wine which was also very good.
