Kachina Southwestern Grill Ratings and Reviews
The food was horrible and the service was worse. We started with sangria. It tasted like it's been sitting out for a week. We ordered bison empanadas. My husband took a bite and nearly broke his tooth on a huge olive pit (we think). We let our server know and he didn't seem to care. He talked to the kitchen and they said it was a walnut and they were not sure why it was in there. First of all, it was very clearly not a walnut and second of all it's concerning that they don't seem to care if random ingredients get mixed in. I ordered the chicken enchiladas. I know they have lots of cheese, but they were literally floating in an inch of grease. Absolutely disgusting. We then ordered the beignets to try and salvage the meal. After waiting 25 minutes, we asked our server to cancel the order. He asked if we wanted him to remove them from our bill. Why would we pay for them? They never came. The whole experience was a disappointment and we will not be back.
Went for lunch. Everyone liked their meals. Two had trout, one torts and a four pack with drink, salad, pork green chili, and Navajo taco. Nice atmosphere and tasty food with a little different twist. I have been there several times and is always a favorite.
Food and service were exceptional! We have had dinner there several times over the last few years and it has always been good. But, for thanksgiving they knocked it out of the park. The service was spot on and the flavors were the main event. Serving sizes were just right since the goal was to try everything that was included on the days menu.
Had family in town for Thanksgiving and we decided to dine out. Found Kachina through an online search and checked the reviews. This restaurant is fantastic and the Thanksgiving meal was more than we expected. The food was delicious and plentiful. Service was fantastic as well. This may be a new annual tradition for my family.
Thanksgiving--could not get a reservation for 3 later than 11:15, yet restaurant was still quite empty at 12:30, so unsure why are service was less than expected. We received appetizers before the drinks. Then when one of the drinks was wrong, it took another ten minutes to get the correct drink. (no compensation or apology for this mistake) All food was brought family style to the table with no utensils to serve. Scooping cheesy dip with a fork is difficult and then having to use a personal, dirty fork to take beef and turkey from the serving platter is un-sanitary. The main food was tasty and unique, but the desserts could have used some ice cream or whipped cream. I would consider happy hour on their open courtyard, but I doubt I'll be back for dinner.
We went to Kachina Grill for Thanksgiving dinner. It was fabulous. The 4 course menu had a southwestern theme, and we enjoyed each of the courses. Our server, Nancy, was very friendly, and looked after us throughout the meal. The décor is appropriate for the type of restaurant. We will be back!
We ate here for Thanksgiving. Overall a delicious meal, however I would not recommend it for children unless they are the type of kids that eat anything. Our daughters 4 and 7 nibbled the corn chips, ate the apples off the salad and a bit of turkey for $12 each child. No other food options were available, not even rice or plain pasta. Also, it was served family style with the food already dressed, so adding gravy over the stuffing and potatoes was impossible. Same with the cranberry sauce. If you want cranberry sauce, but no pork, you're scraping it off the pork. Our server said it wasn't possible to get sauces or gravy on the side. The desserts were delicious, particularly the bourbon pumpkin pie. Nice ambiance, cozy feel with the fireplace and a beautiful outdoor area.
We are regulars at Kachinas, but the service has been going downhill rapidly. We stuck with it because they had Kids Eat Free on the weekends, so it was helpful. Yesterday, we were told by the manager that they no longer do kids eat free. But, when I mentioned that to them on FB that we were disappointed that got changed, they responded that kids do, in fact, eat free. Now, I am angry. The food isn’t worth the bad service and the management not having their act together. Sorry Kachinas, you lost customers yesterday.
Our food did not arrive after 45 minutes. The server did not check in to let us know what was happening until we asked. No plausible explanation was provided. The manager came out 50 min later, which does not strike me as great customer service despite the fact that they offer to pack our food.
Food at Kachina has drawn me back again and again but this was my first breakfast with them. My associate and I decided to share the 3 egg omelet with potatoes -- all good -- and blueberry pancakes that were probably the best I have ever had (and I pride myself on my own blueberry pancakes). They were amazing! Kachina has never disappointed me!
Nice restaurant, but too loud for conversation. Also, If we'd like to switch seats to hopefully have a chance for conversation, it would be nice for the hostess to do that -- not tell me it is reserved for 2 people 10 minutes later and they show up around the time we are having dessert.
We've been going to Kachina since it opened. As it has grown in popularity so has the crowd. Saturday night was full and noisy. It was hard to hear our table guests. A noisy birthday party in the back room contributed to the noise level. We lingered long enough for the noise to die down and enjoy the food, which is still interesting but may need to expand its menu soon.
We always love Kachina for a special occasion. Unique menu and cocktails. It can be a bit pricy and the service can be painfully slow. Do not go here if your expectation is to be in and out in 45 minutes. If you aren't in a hurry, then there is plenty of atmosphere to soak in and enjoy.
Kachina's has long been a favorite and a standby of mine, and it rarely disappoints. The food was not quite on point last night, unfortunately. My date had the chicken enchiladas, and they were served vastly overcooked, so much so that the consistency was almost like soup. The dish itself was served so hot that it was inedible for quite some time. Generally, consistent quality is one if kachina's defining attributes. I certainly hope that this is not a sign of things to come...
I've got to start with the service... Enough cannot be said about Marker. What an exceptional individual and true professional! Thank you for the attention you gave us !
The food was delicious, as always and atmosphere was lively. We will be back-- even if we don't stay at the hotel.
I absolutely LOVE this restaurant, and that is why I chose it for this special luncheon. Our table was perfect for 10 people, and our service was excellent!
I do have an issue about the menu though: the empanadas were quite disappointing; not fresh but obviously frozen, not flakey & tender, & should be
no point in making a reservation. it took 15 minutes for us to even get greeted an another 5 minutes for the hostess to tell us they were finding us a table. it wasn't even that busy. then it took 1 1/2 hours to get our food. it tasted good, but by that point we were starving.
We have been here four times in the last two months since we discovered it. Every time the hosts are not friendly or accommodating. Finally this night we had a great host who was very friendly. We also have had Andrea as our server twice. The first time was a few weeks ago and it was her first night alone on the floor and you couldn't even tell. She is very friendly and even remembered my fiancé and I even though we brought in a large group this time. The food is always good and everyone always enjoys the drinks. We will be dining here often
Wait staff and bar tending were both off. Menu seemed to be greatly pared back since our last visit in December. Food not the same high quality we've had in past visits.
Very inconsistent visit, not sure it was worth the hour drive we normally gladly make.
