Its always a pleasure to eat here. Brought an out-of-town guest for a special treat and local restaurant. We both had a great meal and wonderful service.
I love Kachina but the chef needs to come up with a variety of meals which are not hot hot hot !!! A mild Caesar Salad, and one or two mild not spicy meals for dinner.
We arrived on time for our reservation but it appeared the restaurant was understaffed for a Sunday. It took some time for our server to arrive with menus and take drink orders...After ordering our meal took almost an hour to be served because the kitchen was backlogged. The server was very kind and provided us with a guacomole app and the beignets afterwards - gratis due to the extended wait.
Although hungry, we weren't in a hurry and our server did his best to make the wait as pleasant as possible! I like the food options and atmosphere at Kachina and we have dined there often. Despite this one experience - the server made it right in our eyes and we will definitely be back.
Excellent Easter brunch! Our server was so easy going and attentive. Food was contemporary Southwestern, and so good!
Since it was Easter, it was crowded and pretty noisy and we had a table right where everyone walked in and out, so it was very "busy" all the time. That having been said, our waiter was amazing -- very helpful and attentive and made sure we got orders placed when we were ready and food delivered hot and smoothly. And, the food was very good and plentiful. We'd like to go back and try it on an evening and away from the spot where we were located this time around, just to see if we would give it five stars across the board. While I rated food at 4 stars; I'd probably say 4 1/2. But the service makes up for everything -- definitely 5 stars plus. And the prices were right in line with what you would expect. Overall, a good dining experience and worth a return.
I’ve eaten here several times but on this occasion the service was super slow and the food was extremely salty. Not up to par but everyone is entitled to an off day.
We still love Kachina but they have lost a few steps with the loss of Chef Jeff.
Food is always good, but service was nonexistent today. Almost felt like our server was ignoring us. Had to flag her down for refills on coffee and wafer, just felt we weren't worth her time. We are longtime Kachina customers, so this was really out of character for the restaurant.
We love coming here, but it was the worst experience we've ever had! Our party of 8 waited 1 hour for food to arrive! When we started asking at 40min wait we were told twice that its getting plated or its coming which wasn't true. When it came out it was good although the kids hamburger had been sitting under the hot lights for awhile and was chewy and overdone. The manager took care of some of the bill which was nice, but it was too high to begin with. The waitress told us about happy hour and that we could order from that menu, but none of the happy hour discounts were applied. The most frustrating part was that not once during that hour did she come back to ask if we wanted more drinks or get us water refills. She forgot about us or was intentionally ignoring us. I believe she just forgot our order all together! Don't make excuses, just admit you messed up!
Love Kachina! Always a great dinner and fun atmosphere; it was especially lively this visit as the hotel was hosting a dance convention. It was pretty loud so was hard for a big group like us to hear one another. But if you like a bustling atmosphere, this is the place.
Another great thing about this restaurant is you can find an entree in all price ranges; from $17-$30 a meal. Plus, our kids meals were free with an entree! My only "complaint" would be no free chips and salsa.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants to dine in a beautiful space. The ambience is modern southwestern and the food is delicious. The service was great too - friendly and professional. The overall experience reminded me of some of my favorite New Mexican restaurant moments that I've had in the past. I will be back soon!
Excellent food and service! Really enjoyed both the restaurant and bar.
Service was slow, salad was overdressed, taco was too saucy
Service was very good but the food was too salty . The best thing was our appetizer of scallops ceviche. I had mixed grill and my husband had boneless quail, both over salted. My black beans were dried out. Not impressed.
Food was very good.
The restaurant mixes large group gatherings with two person dining and the noise level and foot traffic is obnoxious.
This is a great place! Navajo Tacos are ridiculous! Enchiladas were awesome and the desserts are just stupid good! Service was great with Mars!
We’ve decided to make this out special occasion restaurant. Great food and service.
I love coming to Kachina for dinner. My favorite dish are the pork tacos. The wait staff are all excellent.
Really good food but some items are quite spicy, which not everyone liked. Eclectic and varied menu. The boneless texas quail and bison meatloaf are amazing. Appetizers and deserts are terrific. Interesting cocktails. I liked the Native Sage cocktail quite a bit.
Nice setting. Fairly quiet. Tables a bit too close together in my opinion but still a nice relaxed atmosphere.
Reservations are a good idea. Every table was occupied when we went.
Love the decor. Server was pleasant and kind, sought answers for questions they did not have the answers to. Free kid meal adds a great value to this place, and makes it affordable to go out as a family. Wish there was a gf kid menu option. Would prefer if "Three Sisters" dish was still prepared the old way. Food was wonderful as always. Thank you for making this a family friendly place.
My wife and I like this restaurant for its value and innovative food. Kachina advertises itself as southwestern, and I'd say that is spot on: the food is not Tex-Mex (what most Americans call "Mexican"), nor does it resemble pan-Mexican or regional cuisines south of the border. It's kind of its own thing, a fusion of American, Mexican, and in particular New Mexican culinary traditions. The heat here is mostly of the background variety, vs sharp notes of spiciness. I find traditional go-to's like salsa to be really fresh-tasting, and different from what you find at most restaurants. I haven't ever *not* enjoyed everything I've ordered here, including the drinks, which are reasonably priced and well-made. Don't skimp on desert, they are really surprising, and I've had things that remind me of deserts I've had before, but are always sufficiently different to be unique and interesting, on top of delicious.
Don't let the hotel setting fool you: once your in the door (which is a bit hard to find at first), you'll forget you're at the Westin. The outdoor patio is really nice spring through fall, but the indoor space is nice, with complementary lighting and views of the kitchen. It can get a bit loud on a crowded night, so be prepared, but most of our meals here have been at a conversational tone, and when it has gotten loud, we've been offered different tables by the management.
Very good food. But be sure to ask how spicy the dish is. I love spicy but some meals are downright hot which might be a problem for some. So be sure to ask. Their tacos are so good I crave them! Green chili is excellent (but, again, it can be hot). The Casa Greens is a delicious, light salad. Shrimp and waffles are good.
Server brought wrong food and argued with us about it. I asked if cilantro (allergy) was an ingredient in dish I selected (it wasn’t listed) and was told the kitchen was too busy for special orders. I chose the only vegetarian dish on the menu so hoped it would not contain cilantro. The server did not ask the chef, but took out the main ingredient and served me a Navajo tortilla with onion and avocado - no calabaza at all. It took an hour and 15 minutes to get our entrees. When we pointed out my husbands dish was the wrong one and mine was an onion taco, he argued with us. Will never go back. Too bad, as we have enjoyed several other visits there. They took half the cost of the meal off but we didn’t care about the money - we expect the correct food, answers to our questions and adequate service.
I used to enjoy this restaurant however this trip was the worst ever. I had made the reservations a week in advance party of 7. And the waitress acted like we were such a huge party and couldn't give us the time of day. Ordered vegetables to go with the guacamole appetizer was charged $3 for those and they didn't even come until we were halfway through our meal because the waitress blamed it on the staff that this is not something that they normally provide. Then one of the guests in my party was never even brought her food the waitress again didn't even put the order in. Nice her food did come - it was sitting in a pool of oil.For drinks I ordered a club soda with lime there was no lime for the drinks and the waitress never came back to even check to see if we needed anything until we were almost completely done with our meal. I ordered a bison taco salad which I'd never ordered and it was a bison sandwich with layers of tortilla. I am on a gluten free diet so I had to scrape what little bison there was onto the salad. Very very poor service not sure if she was the only waitress on for that day but I had made the reservations for 12:30 when the lunch crowd would be hopefully over- would think the restaurant would properly staff they place of business.
First time at Kachina. It should be noted the food was really spicy, so keep that in mind before making plans. The service was really poor. They forgot our food. We went straight from appetizers to dessert menus. For the inconvenience the server told us food was compliments of the chef only to present us with a bill upon getting up to leave. A manager and a server gave weak apologies as we were in the restaurant over 2 hours not due to the ambiance.
This was my first time to dine at Kachina. Made reservations for a first date. My date had previously dined and had recommended Kachina over the other option offered.
For my part, the experience was excellent; good food , drinks and pleasant ambiance. The staff and service was great.
I will definitely not hesitate, and look forward to another opportunity, to dine at either location again.
Food was great. But the wine list did not have any wine available.
We went here before a movie for my husbands birthday and had a great early dinner. My only negative feedback would be when my husband and son who is 12 tried to sit at the bar, the bartender very rudely said “he can’t sit there” he could have said this differently. When I walked in from using the bathroom, my husband was very upset and we almost left because of it.
A lot of fun! Good food!
We came into reserve a specific table for New Year's Eve, and we're assured by the hostess and a gentleman who seems to be managing that day, that we were set for the table we wanted on NYE.
When we arrived, our chosen table was occupied, and we were told by a different hostess that we would NOT be able to be seated at our requested table. So we we're disappointed at the dismissal of our original request. Please don't promise things you can't guarantee.
We always enjoy eating at Kuchina. Variety of items on menu is excellent from vegetarian to meat to seafood and fresh water fish too. Always spicy!!
Below average bloody Mary’s we were told were amazing at $11 each. We don’t mind paying for good bloodys but again not very good and did not even finish because not enjoyable. The smoked salmon was good. This place was convenient being attached to our hotel and getting double points feasting at this restaurant but other than those points, not very impressed. We were there three times in the 48 hours in the area and dinner experience was not much better.
The tacos were ok. The beef was perfect. Rice had too much cilantro. Overall it was good and kids under 10 are free.
I love the food here! For my third visit, I had the pork tacos, and they were awesome! My girlfriend got the shrimp dish and she said it was absolutely wonderful! The service was great, and the prices are very reasonable. I always make a reservation, and highly recommend you do, too!
Easy, but delicious food. Perfect for everyone. We love to go for breakfast and for dinner.
Only complaint is that it took a while to get the main order to the table. Not all dishes were served together. Service could have been better.
Excellent experience. Great tequila selection. Incredible unique food. The scallop ceviche and tacos were excellent.
The food was horrible and the service was worse. We started with sangria. It tasted like it's been sitting out for a week. We ordered bison empanadas. My husband took a bite and nearly broke his tooth on a huge olive pit (we think). We let our server know and he didn't seem to care. He talked to the kitchen and they said it was a walnut and they were not sure why it was in there. First of all, it was very clearly not a walnut and second of all it's concerning that they don't seem to care if random ingredients get mixed in. I ordered the chicken enchiladas. I know they have lots of cheese, but they were literally floating in an inch of grease. Absolutely disgusting. We then ordered the beignets to try and salvage the meal. After waiting 25 minutes, we asked our server to cancel the order. He asked if we wanted him to remove them from our bill. Why would we pay for them? They never came. The whole experience was a disappointment and we will not be back.
Holiday meal with friends
Meh - really dissatisfied with service - lazy waitresses both times. 3 tables total and took over 15 minutes to pick up our credit cards. Just boring and not memorable. Food is average- not stellar
