We stopped there to eat before going on to a show at the Pantages Theater. The service was quick and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Parking was also super easy.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in LA. Love the food, service and ambiance.
Worse service ever
Started bad to get us seated and everything went down hill from there.
Both the women's and men's restrooms were badly in need for attention. The women's had no toilet paper at all and the handicap stall did not lock. The men's had over flowing trash cans according to my husband. Several of the plates had chips in them bad enough that I sent them back adding for new ones. This was for my husband's birthday, I expected much better for the amount of money we spent. I would not recommend this place
We've eaten at Kabuki a few times before; it's just down the street from the Pantages Theatre, where we occasionally see big shows. Our most recent visit there was truly a mixed experience. I ordered sukiyaki, a dish I probably last had in the late 1970's (!!!), and it was really good. So was the soup and salad that came with it. Unfortunately, we can't say the same thing about my wife's entrée. She ordered sea bass and there was definitely something wrong with it. The restaurant was very cool about that; they took it back and did not charge for it. She ordered a few pieces of sushi to replace the (cooked) sea bass, but they definitely were not the freshest pieces of raw fish she ever had. As a result, we probably will look for other options in that neighborhood the next time we're going to the theater there.
Wonderful Japanese Restaurant in Hollywood.
Excellent menu and reasonable pricing. Knowledgeable staff an great service.
Have Sukiyaki which is one of favorites (awesome BTW).
Our waiter Espi was amazing. We had a good time. We will be back.
The place was packed when we arrived, but we got seated right away. The waitress took our order without writing anything down - which seemed to be the way they did it there - but she forgot our order. The soups never came until after the sushi arrived, and that was after we reminded her and the appetizer we order also never came, and when we asked about it, she said she had to put the order it - because she forgot that one too! The food was good -but basic and commensurate with the cost. It was convenient since we were going to the theater afterwards. Good thing we gave ourselves plenty of time because we also didn't get the check in a timely manner and I had to finally ask for it so we could leave to make it to the show on time.
Food was goid and authentic, great value right near walk of stars!
The food was very good, and the service was wonderful
Lowkey, casual spot that won't break the bank. Service was great! Will go again.
Their Manager was Fantastic! They had a mishap in their kitchen, but she came over to speak to us and check on our table, and apologize for the delay. We were very satisfied with her Customer Service and would not hesitate to recommend this Kabuki!
Pretty good sushi for the area. Not ridiculously priced either. Definitely satisfies that sushi craving.
We booked the reservation through OpenTable for Christmas and then once we got to the restaurant for a party of 6 which included my family visiting from across the country they told us that they don't use OpenTable anymore. That was quite irritating considering how carefully I selected the restaurant being across from the movie theater. What was equally as bad as how they deliver the food. They kept bringing out dishes one at a time while the rest of us would wait up to 10 minutes for the next dish. The food was tasty, but after this experience I'm hesitant to go back again.
Great sushi for a very fair and convenient price! Very good choice to complete a nice evening if you are going to the Pantages Theater to see a show.
It is very close to the Pantages Theater and reasonable prices. Getting there before 6pm we made happy hour and beat the crowd.
Dirty table and floor, charged for something we didnt even recieve. Bad 👎
This is a good pre show dinner for my family with varying tastes. Service tends to be slow but the food is tasty.
Good for pre-theater dinner - walking distance from the Pantages. Good food, reaaly good sushi.
Great for kids too Left happy and no complaints.
The food was quite good; very nice cuts of fish and of high quality. However, the painfully clueless millennial wait-staff makes it unlikely we'll go there again. Hard to know who our server was; they never made eye contact. Brought all the food at once. No common sense. (Like setting the hot wasabi down in front of our 4-year-old, instead of in front of the adult diner, who was the one eating sushi!) Great food, dumb millennials.
My miso soup was cold. Apparently they warmed it up by pouring hot water in it, which made it lukewarm and flavorless. My entree was served at about room temperature, which I don't believe is the norm for grilled beef. My friend had a salad and had to make 3 requests over 10 minutes to get a fork.
Their Ramen is awesome. Sushi/rolls were so-so but you'll forgive them everything after outstanding Tonkatsu Ramen.
We find Kabuki to be a great choice before taking in a play at the Pantages. They offer all kinds of authentic Japanese foods not just sushi.
The server didn't put our order in correctly and omitted many items. When my son's food came we were already to go. It was the craziest experience I have ever had there and a lot of confusion involved. The original server had already left and it was hard to recover the experience. They admitted fault when the manager at the time came over, however, she only deducted three dollars from our bill when we express that we didn't want any dessert. We were ready to leave.
We always look forward to Kabuki before going to the Pantages for a show. Fast service & delicious food!
This is my 2nd time dining here and overall the food is good for the price point. The service at the Sushi Bar was good, however, the waiter service was really slow. They should validate 2 hours of parking instead of 1 to make up for some of these inefficiencies.
We found this restaurant a good option for dining before our show at the Pantages Theatre. Our family of 4, including 2 teens who are somewhat reluctant to try new things, were all happy with the food. Our daughter even tried miso soup for the first time, and liked it. The food was good value for the money and the service was relatively fast.
Kabuki uses good ingredients and the food comes hot. Our server realized how displeased I was that she was serving other tables who had been seated after we arrived. Our cocktails took forever. She apologized after seeing my mood as expressed by my lack of enthusiasm and telling her to get our drinks. My food arrived quickly and my wife's food which included and appetizer arrived considerably later. The appetizer was mouth burning hot. At the same time they brought her sushi roll which could have fed four people and was quite spicy. So we were OK but it will make me think twice about returning. Fifty bucks for the two of us plus tip.
This place may be billed as romantic, date-night spot. It is not. It's old tables and chairs. It's loud and unpleasant. The wait staff was nice enough and the food was fine. The clientele seemed to be young people who play music too loud in their cars. It would have been a fine evening had I expected this atmosphere,
Love this place. I am regular here. Best rolls are: Lava roll, Cilantro Albacore roll, Spicy Tuna crunch roll, lotus on fire, sunrise roll.
Food was excellent and different. Service was impeccable, although we were there at a time when there were no other customers. Green tea lemonade was delightful. And I highly recommend the steamed buns.
Very poor service. Forgot one meal and delivered 10 min after first two were served. Vegetable tempura was mostly green beans and sweet potatoes. California rolls were good. Very noisy high ceiling open.
All the food came out basically at the same time, while it should have been spaced to allow us to finish one course before the main course came. Our waiter was VERY inattentive.
We visit this restaurant almost every time we see a show at the Pantages. This visit the food was good as it normally is; however, the service was almost non-existent. Our server did not come around to check on us; in fact, we had to ask another server to order our last items and had to request refills on our drinks from one of the guys who brought out our food. Our server brought the refill but dropped them on the table and walked off without even acknowledging us. When we were ready to pay, I tried multiple times to get her attention but she wouldn't even look our way even though she was helping the table next to us and visited their table multiple times. Finally my husband walked up and asked for the check which she also brought and dropped on the table without saying anything. She processed the credit card and brought it back still without saying a single word to us. I don't know why she chose to treat my husband and I like persona non grata during this visit but it was painfully obvious she did not want to serve us.
Food was average. Service was very slow. Waiters and waitress were not attentive. The restaurant was too loud to have any conversation with friends. I did not have a pleasant experience.
A nice restaurant. They have a frequent guest reward program and send you specials and a reward on you birthday. Good Happy Hour during the week days.
Service sub par.....about 15 people in the restaurant and the waiters and waitresses were not attentive not professional
