Kabuki Japanese Restaurant - Glendale Ratings and Reviews
We took the kids for a dinner treat and had sushi, grilled sizzling pork belly, calamari, Brussels sprouts, and mussels—all from the happy hour menu. The portions were perfect for the prices. Everything was awesome. My favorites were the Las Vegas roll, Brussels sprouts, and grilled pork. The server and sushi attendant (Christian) were very kind and accommodating. I’ll definitely return!
Kabuki seems to be cutting back on the small things. Have dined there at least a dozen times in the last two years, and this was the first time that complimentary edamame was not offered. My husband's Manhattan was half the size it usually is, so they appear to be trying to save on liquor. Finally, the mints at the front counter were gone! If they think that long time customers won't notice, they're wrong! The food is still good, but don't cut back on the little things.
Glad I made a reservation, because of the Ed Sherran concert is was packed. My sushi roll was delayed getting to my table by at least 20 minutes, the manger took care of my meal. The food was great, it was nice start to the evening finished off by the Ed Sherran concert.
I've come here on many occasions and always leave completely satisfied. The food is amazing and the customer service has always been outstanding. Be cautious of using open table as the restaurant doesn't take reservations on the weekends and does not always work as I was notified upon arrival that the hostess was not aware of my reservation.
We ate the sushi and it was the best sushi I have tasted in Phoenix. It was a problem with the booking, they had not received it. But we where able to get a table after 20 minutes. The atmosphere was great and we got a table near the open kitchen so we could see the chefs making the food. We will definitely go back on a date night.
The restaurant is great the only problem is they are new to open table and we made a reservation on a friday, got a confirmation but when we got there they said they don't take reservations on the weekend I showed them the confirmation and they accepted it with reluctance.
Made a reservation with Kabuki in Glendale for a Sunday evening, about 4 weeks before the date. It was also an NFL game day at the nearby stadium - I was aware of this and wanted to make sure our party of 6 had somewhere to eat that night. The day before our reservation, the manager called and told me that they don't take reservations for weekends or on special event days, because it was too busy. He said it was Kabuki policy too refuse reservations on busy days. Do not bother making a reservation for a weekend - even though they allow it on open table.
We ended up making it back to Glendale just before the end of the football game, so were able to get a table just before the crowds arrived. The sushi was decent but the hot food we received was lukewarm at best, tempura was soggy and cool, and side dishes were unappetizing. We sent the first entrees back and asked for fresh and hot food, but it was more of the same. Each food item (rice, meat, tempura and cold broccoli?) was on a separate plate and served on what can only be described as hospital trays. Everything seemed like it had been prepared well in advance ( I believe in preparation for the large crowd from the football game) and then doled out cafeteria style. I can honestly say I have had much better food at front counter griddle type Japanese fast food restaurants.
When we complained about the quality of the food, the manager blamed us for asking to have our food served as it was ready, claiming it was ready to serve but they could not fit as we were still eating the soup and salad they had brought only seconds before. It could not all fit on the table, so they had to wait. This was the same manager who blamed me for making a reservation on a game day.
Don't bother going on a busy night - the food is institutional quality. And don't bother talking to the manager. He says he wants his costumers to be happy, but is not willing to take any responsibility for the poor quality of his restaurant.
This is a very nice restaurant with an extensive menu of sushi and sashimi. There are other Japanese items on the menu but my husband & I only ordered sushi. The service was very attentive and fast. The only negative is that the music was much too loud. Not pleasant background music at all. Otherwise an excellent dining experience.
3 very rude hostesses, all 3 very strongly asserted that Kabuki no longer is part of the Open Table system but that they "would seat me anyway. " The waitresses were very nice, tempura was horribly soggy, ochazuke was nice to see on menu but was mediocre. Sushi was marginal. Unfortunately experience started badly with hostesses and didn't improve much. Will never go back.
We arrived at the resturant to be told we didn't have a reservations. I received a little attitude from hostess jherlyn and she said she would check. 5 minutes later I remembered I had an email with confirmation, fter showing her that I was told well we will try to find something. 10 minutes later we where given a table. Our service was very nice but the service was SO slow! We waited for every to order or drinks and food. 3 of us ordered tempura and she brought the plates out with no sauce. And no salad dressing on my plate. After waiting 5 more minutes to ask for our sauce she bought it. We just had to wait so long for everything.
The service was great. They were nice and attended us well. The restaurant was clean and orderly with a great atmosphere. But the best part is the food. I got the Cha Shu Ramen and I loved it! There side salads are pretty tasty too. I'd recommend this place to anyone that enjoys Japanese cuisine.
I went during happy hour and I was really impressed with the several options to choose from. Some places only have a few food items/deals and a few drink options. Well this place had so much to choose from & everything was freshly prepared & delicious. I will be returning in a few days.
We have enjoyed Kabuki regularly since last NOV, the sushi is as good as an ocean side experience. Staff is always friendly and the location is very convenient for local people or guests at the nearby hotels. We've enjoyed many of the entrees in addition to sushi and they are always excellent. Tempura, edamame, salads are excellent.
