Really good Persian food. The lamb chops were amazing. It is a pity that they will close soon. I hope they will relocate somewhere in Bethesda.
The staff was rude and arrogant. He did not come to check on quality of food until my table companions were done. The rice was old and the meat was over cooked and dry.
Felafel sandwich was heavy on the onions. Lamb kebab was good but nothing special.
Wonderful experience. It was my mom's Birthday and they surprised her with cake and candle while the music of restaurant was playing the "Happy Birthday" song.
attentive service, good food and a nice atmosphere. We will return, specially with parking on the back around bethesda, it's a gem.
This restaurant is very reasonably priced. The food is very good and the service is excellent. We were served by a very nice gentleman who strove to give us exactly what we wanted. Moreover, it has a parking lot behind the restaurant. Highly recommend.
Kabob Bazaar is tucked away on Wisconsin Ave. and can be easily missed or dismissed on a strip of store fronts that includes Philadelphia Mike's, a Persian rug store and an optometrist. The easiest way to get to it is through the rear entrance of the "mall" in the parking lot located on Woodmont Ave. and walk through it to Wisconsin Ave. So logistics are needed to get there. It's figuratively a small price to pay.
The Mediterranean menu is extensive, with both traditional and creatively prepared dishes, all a delight., whether appetizers, entrees, or dessert. The ambience was so enjoyable--brick walls with arches and niches with photos from the Old Country-- and even though the restaurant was filled and included a number of large parties, the four of us had no trouble engaging in conversation in, well, conversational, volume. Our server, a wonderfully warm older gent from the Old Country, was so welcoming and warm that we all thought, unfortunately as it turned out incorrectly, that he was the owner. And, when the check came it literally was a small price to pay.
You'll want to come back again and again!
Our first time dining here as we wanted to have lunch before heading over to the National Philharmonic concert at the Strathmore. The staff was very nice and still had our table reserved although we were 30 minutes late due to traffic. The restaurant is just difficult to find if you are on a certain street (forgot the name). Parking is not the best and you have to be careful where you park or you will get towed. Overall, the food was good and the lamb kabob was cooked perfectly. Plus, they had flat screen TVs visible so you can watch the games.
Food was excellent as always. Service was attentive. Love their rices. Favorite place to eat.
This was my second time at the restaurant and the food was top notch each time. The Persian vegetable soup was tasty, thick and different. The main courses were delicious. The two of us both had baklava for desert. It was heavier, dryer and not as sweet as we're used to but very good in its own way. The person I was with was enthralled by a pomegranate sauce noted on an entrée on the menu but didn't want the dish. The waiter brought over a very generous sample of the sauce for her to try. She loved it.
The one downside of the evening was that two groups of college age people (10-12 in each group) were there - one inside and one outside. The inside group was there when we arrived and the outside group came towards the end of our meal. These groups, of course, greatly reduced the speed of service. It was still accommodating but stretched out. The time to get our check and pay it was inordinately long.
In terms of the noise level, we were more affected by the inside group. They were not loud on a constant basis or in any way obnoxious. However, a TV set was on in the dining room with a college football game on the screen. The group reacted to plays as the game progressed. It felt that I was in a sports bar rather than a relatively low key restaurant. I've been to other restaurants that had a TV on in the bar area but not in the middle of the restaurant.
The above will not keep me from returning because the food is really good. However, I might consider not staying if similar groups were there, unless my interest was to watch the game.
The middle eastern cuisine was quite good, but the Kabob Bazzar leaves a lot to be desired in ambiance. The noise level (background music) was so loud, it detracted from the dining experience.
Great food. Did not have my Open Table reservation listed but we were able to be seated promtly.
Parking was a little tricky but the meal was worth it. Great food and service. Will go again.
This restaurant has great food at reasonable prices with a fantastic grand combination appetizer. I would go back solely for this appetizer.
More than your typical Mediterranean dining experience. Yummy kebabs (lamb and kubideh), but also items not found elsewhere like shireen polo (rice with orange peel, carrots, and pistachios), unusual and delicious eggplant dip with spices and eggs, and the gratis basket of pita and fresh veggies with yogurt sauce on every table. But the best is the warm, personal service from our waiter, an older gentleman who made us feel like we were dining in his home. Good prices for a great meal.
Excellent food, middle-eastern but not the traditional north African cuisine. I strongly recommend trying the Persian ice cream for desert. It reminds me of the Indian Kulfi but with an additional rose flavor.
Visiting this place was a total WAG. The reviews were mixed. The location was just fine. We wanted middle eastern food. The options for a Saturday lunch were limited. So we gave it a try. Good decision!
We were greeted warmly as we were a little early for our reservation. We were initially seated next to a very noisy party and asked to try another table a bit further from the large group. No problem. Everything was moved and we started again.Up against the window looking at Wisconsin Avenue but it was a bit quieter.
We wanted to talk. Our friend (3 in our party with one member being in the USA for the first time in 5 years) as a yen for really out there foods while we are adventurous within limits. Everyone was able to find something to their liking within the menu.
After a short wait, the food arrived. A LOT of food, piping hot and absolutely wonderful. Meat was moist and flavorful, rice was fluffy and perfectly seasoned. Our adventurous member had a bowl of something from the specials menu that was mostly organ meat and she loved it. We could have gotten away with one less dish but that is not a complaint. The lamb, chicken, beef etc. was perfectly cooked and seasoned.
Service was professional and friendly. The server was attentive without being in the way. Prices were reasonable but not cheap (they fit the location and the type of restaurant).
If we lived nearby (we live 3 miles away), I'd visit often!
Outstanding service and great food!
The food is excellent and the service is superb! I highly receommend Kabob Bazaar!
I almost did not stay when I saw the grimy carpet under my table and chair, but I had already parked my car and was limited for time.
The food was good, but did not have the full flavor I have tasted at other Persian restaurants at which I have eaten. The two wines I tried were of inferior quality and one of them was served in a cordial glass. I am glad I checked out the restaurant before inviting a guest to have dinner with me next week.
We were going to a show at the Blues&Jazz Club so location right across Wisconsin Avenue was perfect. Good food--we all had different Kabobs--and we liked the bread a lot. Four different kinds of rice to choose from, but the waiter had trouble describing them, mostly just pointed to a poster they have in the entryway that has photographs of the food. Will definitely go back when in the neighborhood.
We enjoyed our meals of lamb, beef, vegetarian and chicken. It was well cooked and flavorful. Our only point of contention was the skimpy meat portions which was masked by a plateful of flavorful rice. Vegetarian platter was better proportioned.
If you're looking for fresh delicious Persian dishes this is the place to go! You can't compare the exceptional quality to chains like Moby Dick. Ambiance is quiet but casual. Service was wonderful.
Very good food, nice ambience, however service could be a littl more attentive
Friendly attentive service with good, basic middle eastern cuisine. We will be back.
This was our first visit. The food was great. We will definitely go back.
The food was good, the service mediocre and staff did not appear to be well trained. I have learned from my restaurant experiences poor quality service affects the way you assess the quality of the food. If we had had better service perhaps the perception of the Persian food would have been more laudatory.
We discovered that this restaurant has been open for four years. Simple and plain decor, but very good food and friendly and attentive service. Would definitely go back again for a relatively inexpensive dinner after a movie in the Bethesda area.
They did not allowed us to use Amazon local deal voucher with open table reservation and yet require reservation (only through phone) for using the voucher. Manager did not care to resolve this issue for customer at all. Will not go back in the future.
Walked from my house, but found out they had 2 hour free parking! Beautifully decorated with Middle Eastern live music. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and terrific value for price. Will be going back very soon!
Great food and a great value! The chicken shish kabob is my favorite because it includes a vegetable kabob too. Everyone is very nice. Has convenient parking in the back.
