Not the best food. Very bland. Waiter knew we wanted to have a cocktail before dinner arrived but that didn’t happen. Trying to get us in and out we felt like.
This place was such a disappointment. It is not worth the money.for several reasons:
1) $45 entrees are neither generous nor inventive. Ahi tuna takaki was mushy, like it had been frozen and thawed. It came with burrata and flavorless tomatoes. This restaurant bills itself as a farm to table restaurant so it’s not a good idea to put unripened and bitter tomatoes on your menu. Fried chicken was dry and overcooked. Farm salad was the only good dish that seemed prepared as intended.
2) Indifferent service. The server barely spoke to us between taking our order and giving us the Bill.
3) Excruciating wait between courses. The atmosphere was made worse because we were seated in what seemed like a hallway between the beach and the hotel with kids running through In their bathing suits screaming and yelling.
Great food. Fun vibe. Great waitress, Tia!
If you want to eat at the Andaz Maui and want to try something "fancy" but not Morimoto's, this is the only choice. During COVID it's menu is small but the food was good. You just have to realize you will pay more because it's Maui and it's in a hotel.
The service was great, but to say the food was sub-par is being generous. I received over-priced fish whose main seasoning was pepper. 3 stars only due to service and ambiance. Do yourself a favor, save some money, and head just about anywhere else for better food at a more reasonable price.
Limited menu options. Table service was slow, despite restaurant not being full. Table lighting needs improvement, too dim.
AMAZING! PERFECT! Couldn't have asked for a better final meal before departing this beautiful island. My family and I had dinner at two other highly recommended Maui restaurants earlier in the week- one of which is "iconic." Neither of those restaurants held a candle to Ka'ana Kitchen. From the first greeting, the service was outstanding. The menu looked wonderful but I wanted different sides with the catch of the day than what was listed. I hesitated asking our waiter (John) because so many places don't want to do substitutions. He immediately said yes and the dish was superb! My husband order the entree as suggested, which had a very different, but delicious flavor. What a testament to the chef to be so versatile and skillful. One daughter had risotto, which was delicious, and our other daughter had the Ahi Big Eye, which was also cooked to perfection. We shared the grilled octopus and the mixed greens. I can't stress enough how much we enjoyed all of the dishes. As good as the food was, the service was even better! We never had a need that wasn't addressed quickly and John was friendly and accommodating. To top it all off, we had the perfect table to watch the beautiful Maui sunset. This is not only our new favorite Maui restaurant, but it ranks in the top 5 of ALL restaurants we've enjoyed.
While the manager made it right at the end, the entire meal was a 2 hour nightmare with frozen food, missing items from a literally 6 item main course menu, and utter lack of communication. I'd like to chalk it up to a bad night but can't in good conscience write a positive review
Food was okay but not great. For the price, I expected better. Definitely paying for eating at a resort.
This was our second visit in two weeks but this time to celebrate my daughter’s 50th birthday. All four of us had the tasting menu prepared by Chef Chance and it was spectacular! We have a couple of dietary issues with allergies and restrictions but Chef prepared delicious tastings for all of us. Our waiter, John, is thoroughly knowledgeable about wine pairings, and excited to pour different wines to match the different courses. Junelle and Tommy delivered our courses and explained the different elements clearly and were very friendly and welcoming. My daughter and husband enjoyed the experience so much we decided to gift them another dinner on their own. This experience is so good, it’s worth splurging on the tasting and wine pairings. It’s not posted anywhere on Ka’ana’s website, so you’ll need to call and leave a message asking for your reservation between 5:30 and 6:30. Be prepared to stay for a while and be sure to be hungry when you go. Absolutely a must do!
Food was ono, service was excellent- attentive and friendly and the view was gorgeous at sunset
Valentines celebration
Awesome service! Great setting
Will be back soon we hope
Beautiful place with great food!
The food and service was excellent! Great atmosphere and view of the ocean
Loved it and will definitely be back! Great ambience, service, and food!
Food and service was great, unfortunately it was really quiet due to COVID, highly recommended.
Our last night on Maui
This is really a must-do experience! We had eaten at Ka’ana Kitchen before and were able to have the Chef’s Counter Tasting Menu. Since we are all social distancing, that option is not available; however, we were told there was still a five-course tasting menu available. We reserved and when we arrived, were seated at the center table nearest the kitchen. What a fabulous meal! Our waiter, John, was the best! He was attentive, friendly, and explained each course. We’d asked for wine pairings, which he poured and were exceptional. They paired well with the food and were very generous pours. We have a couple of dietary restrictions; one is allergic to shellfish, the other doesn’t eat beef. No problem. Chef Chance accommodated every request. And what a chef! Great food, wonderful presentation, friendly and inviting. It is on the high end of the price list (per person food is $125 and wine pairing is $125) but absolutely is in the “you get more than you paid for” category. We couldn’t find this on the website, and because they only offer reservations for this to be seated between 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm, you’ll need to call to make your reservation and to request the tasting menu. It is such a wonderful experience, we are taking my daughter and her husband there for her birthday when she arrives next week. It’s that good!
Excellent food!
Good and fast service!
Beautiful setting, view, ambiance with nice music at the bar just below the balcony of the restaurant!
Fresh, delicious ingredients prepared to your liking. Creative menu with great options for everyone. Our server Gwen was wonderful and she along with the rest of the staff were very attentive, making our evening a lovely dining experience. We highly recommend Ka’ana kitchen at the Andaz Maui.
Great Ambiance, beautiful look and a terrific server. The piece de resistance fell drastically short. Pre preped cold octopus (and it’s a salad- which the menu doesn’t indicate) blops of goat cheese and an almost non existent dressing. Watermelon salad was half frozen. Mains were average at best. The Maui fresh fish is what we had and the veggies were way over done. If you go... just think about this review as you’re eating.
Love this staff!! Oh, and the Food is amazing!!
Very average experience and food except our waiter, John who was outstanding!
Very overpriced for the quality of the food. The restaurant is in the Andaz's breakfast room, it's modern and clean, but very average.
Good food. Very pricey and service is minimal. Doesn’t have the same ambiance since COVID.
Great service, great view, not super impressed by the meal I ordered. I hadn’t realized the buffet wasn’t open- but I should have figured with Covid ! We had heard great reviews on their buffet spread and that’s why I had booked. It was still nice, but just check out the menu beforehand ! Our server was really nice and knowledgeable and you could tell he was happy to be there
Watermelon salad and fried chicken plate outstanding!
Not as good as 4 years ago. Watermelon salad has changed.- and not as good. Fried chicken seriously under-seasoned but accompaniments good. Fish woefully overcooked but broth delicious. Wine ridiculously overpriced. Honestly- won’t be going back. Just too spotty for the price.
Breakfast was incredible. Such good service too.
The menu was significantly truncated due to COVID-19 yet this was not disclosed anywhere in advance of our arrival. The few menu items remaining were exorbitantly priced for what they are. $65 for a small portion of striploin, $30 for a salad, etc. We had just two cocktails that ran $50 after a standard 20% tip and left w/o ordering any food. Employees seemed understandably bummed in their demeanor and there was no music of any kind playing while we were seated so it was unusually quiet in the space.
Everything about our meal was perfect. What more can you say?
First time here. Great food portion and presentation. Atmosphere pleasant and distancing was excellent. Would plan to come back. Had noted anniversary on booking, but never acknowledged during the meal. Small flaw made up by the test of the dinner
Great place, great experience, awesome food.
I’ll definitely try to go back!
Food is amazing the finest ingredients!
We love it
Last night in Maui, Spectacular hotel and grounds. We loved the compressed watermelon; chef was kind enough to come out and talk to us. Octopus and big eye tuna were also well prepared and delicious.
The wine list is great, albeit VERY expensive. Service was ok but should have been much better.
We really loved the food and atmosphere.
The food and the wine were excellent. And the service provided by John was phenomenal. We plan to go back again soon.
Our dinner was amazing! We went with a larger group - all ordered different drinks and food items - everything was beautiful and delicious. The only downside was our waiter who didn't seem to want to be there / like some of the menu items when asked for recommendations. We would still go back, though :)
Service was terrible, food was terrible, very limited selection of food
We love the food at Ka’ana kitchen and we dine here every year Did not know it was a prix fix menu for NYE. Did not say that when I booked on open table or anywhere on the menu. . Bill was $500+ just for dinner no alcohol. Nowhere was that out on any menu. Totally not worth it. Very disappointed.
The service, scenery and food cannot be beat. Be prepared for small pours and small portions. Otherwise delightful.
