Ka'ana Kitchen at Andaz Maui
Our dishes are prepared using techniques from around the culinary world, but thought-out in accordance with our micro-climate. The way we prepare our fish, season our salads, and grill our meat depends not only on its origin, but what the weather tells us, how the swells on the ocean shape our mood, and how the land influences our feelings.
Here we hope to blur the lines between your kitchen and our restaurant, between what is external and what is internal. We invite you in, share our hopes, and create a unique dining experience that connects you to this place and its essence.

Food was average for the price. Quite unusual food combinations on the plate. Small portions and the Wine list is expensive. Went away hungry and unsatisfied. Read good reviews but did not come anywhere near to what we were to believe. Don’t recommend it.
When we travel, we often search for well prepared meals with quality ingredients. The menu is simple, the kitchen is open, the service is attentive, and the preparation is outstanding. We ate here twice and execution was consistent. The desserts were a nice surprise. The pavlova and matcha ice cream was the best plant based dessert we’ve had. Highly recommend the restaurant.
All around very good!
Very welcoming and relaxed pacing
Excellent food but you should know that if you are not staying at the Andaz that you will be put in the worst tables in the restaurant. Prime patio seating for hotel guests only despite booking reservation over 6+ weeks ago. Other than that unpleasant realization, the food is incredible.
The fried chicken and Scallop Risotto were both absolutely amazing. Would totally make the trip back just for those 2 entrees!
ambiance, attentive professional service, food quality and creativity exceptional. must go to while on Maui
We dine out in Wailea 100+times every year. Ka'ana Kitchen continues to be one of our favorite places for quality casual/upscale dining. Very interesting menu, excellent service, wonderful atmosphere--be sure to request an outside table!
We arrived an hour before our reservation time hoping to get to bed early (time change was a challenge). A friend in our group had recommended this restaurant highly after her experience earlier in the week. Ours was beyond expectations. We had an outside corner table with ocean sunset view and a server named Carly who made us feel more like friends than patrons. Being gluten-free, our options are pretty stale at most restaurants. Here we had the opportunity to experience fried chicken and waffles!! The fried chicken was cornflake coated and the waffle was mochi (rice cake) that was as flavorful as the best doughnut experience ever. Unforgettable!
Food was good but not stellar and was significantly overpriced. We were seated on the balcony overlooking the bar/pool area which was crowded with drunk people watching a football game and yelling loudly, which kind of ruined the romantic vibe the place otherwise might have had. Our server was attentive.
Fantastic food and ambiance. Loved our outdoor table!
This was our second time at Ka’ana Kitchen and it was just as amazing as we remembered. The portions are great and there’s such a perfect variety of flavors - everyone is bound to be happy. The service was also spectacular! This place is a must.
The food here was amazing! We enjoyed the grilled octopus, lobster, and clams. Each was so delicious and flavorful while striking a perfect balance that didn't overwhelm our palettes. We look forward to coming back to try to chef's tasting menu sometime! The prices were also very reasonably priced and honestly, we would've been happy to pay more so we were sure to tip generously. Everyone was so kind and friendly, from the cheery hostess, cocktail waitress, our server JD, and even the head chef coming by to check on us. Thanks for making our celebration so wonderful. We were grateful to have made the trip from Oahu to celebrate completion of our boards and Veteran's Day weekend. Ka'ana Kitchen truly made it magical and celebratory.
A fine restaurant in a well situated hotel. Unfortunately, it does not offer good value compared to others in the area that have similar levels of food, service, and ambiance. If you enjoy having wine with your dinner, the wine list is limited to very high end boutique wineries. Only a small number of options less than $100. Corkage for your own wine is $50, far higher than we've experienced in the area. While other restaurants here waived the corkage fee, they did not, and even included an 18% tip for our dinner for 2 people (and not indicated on the menu). Most restaurants only include this automatically for large groups. While the food was fine, their wine and tip policy left a bad taste in our mouths.
Thank you for joining us for dinner last night. I'm glad you enjoyed the food. We waive the corkage fee when a guest buys a bottle of wine - even a half bottle. Yesterday was during Restaurant Week. We offer a discounted 3 course menu where part of the proceeds go to the Maui Food Bank. This menu is subject to automatic tax and gratuity. This should have been indicated on that separate menu & mentioned by your server. If it was not I apologize. Sincerely, Jeff Groh c:503.568.5480
We opted to go with 4 different small plate options and each were delicious. We had the octopus, tuna, pork belly and the wagyu. Relatively small menu. Very good cocktails but on the pricier side for even Maui (~$18 each).
Great experience, lighting outside a little on the dark side. Service was excellent and interiors superb.
Excellent innovative food
We had fish caught that day which was well prepared and tasted great
They have modem preparation of seafood, meat or vegetarian entrees
Second time very tasty good service love the dining room
Very unfriendly greeter checked us in. Restaurant is beautifully decorated with a very modern feel. It was the first day of restaurant week, but we had to ask for the special restaurant week menu. Food was just ok which was very unfortunate given the nice ambiance inside and out.
The food is very overpriced for mediocre food at best. The menu is also limited for entrees. Drinks are also over priced. Our waitress specifically said she wouldn’t recommended certain dishes but the ones she did recommend weren’t great.
Fantastic evening, excellent service, wonderful food and good wine list. However it's wrong to serve 6oz glasses, its cheaper nearly to buy a bottle than the price they charge for 2 6oz glasses!
Great food and attentive waiter
Food was incredible service was great but the ambiance was terrible. Beautiful view marred by televisions and loud music.
This was by far my favorite meal in Maui! The octopus salad appetizer was amazing and the scallops risotto blew me away! Also the service was excellent. Must go!
Just a sublime Hawaiian experience. Great space, views, lovely hotel space. Every item was great; pressed watermelon was a eye opener!
Onaga is always a favorite, delicate and probably caught that day.
Pricey but impressive wine menu, pairings available. Made do with a Premier Cru Chablis. Not hard to want to return.
Highly recommend for a dinner date or group outing. Wonderful ambiance, service, and food!
A wonderful local Hawaiian themed restaurant at the Andaz resort. My family of three went there recently for dinner, and had a variety of cocktails and food, all of which were fantastic. The restaurant has a rotating cocktail special menu featuring different mixologists, and both my wife and I loved ours. For appetizers, the Ahi Tataki and Wagyu Hanger steak were tender and delicious. We also tried Hush Puppies featuring breadfruit; these were well executed and tasty though the breadfruit was not obvious. For entrees, a fresh catch of the day and the lobster tail were cooked perfectly and accompanied with generous local ingredients. Dessert was similarly flavorful - chocolate mousse with taro root chips, lilikoi tart with almond chocolate brittle, and a "liquid dessert" featuring scotch and other liquors to give a chocolate, coffee, and smoke flavor.
The only negative was the amount of noise. The evening started out quietly, but a very large party was seated nearby that made it impossible to hear the live music or to talk amongst ourselves. Fortunately the staff was helpful and moved us a few tables down.
With the local, creative menu and fine preparation, we will visit again our next time to Wailea.
Utterly fantastic food, a wonderful experience. Might need to fly back just for a few of the dishes again.
We stayed at the hotel where this restaurant is located. At check-in, they gave us a coupon for champagne and two desserts for our 40th anniversary. Our waiter offered to sub out the champagne for wine and the portions were very generous, so we were only able to eat one dessert. The lanai seating overlooking the ocean was very quiet the night we ate there because it was one of the two nights (Sun & Tues) the hotel hosts a luau. On the luau nights, there is no loud music from the poolside bar located under the restaurant. A very pleasant evening and good food.
Have eaten here several times over the years. Never disappointed. Mix of entree-size and small plates on the menu, great for sharing and mixing. Seats on the outside have a wonderful view of sunset. Difficult to decide if we like breakfast or dinner more!
Service is always excellent, Carlie has helped us out several times and always has provided warm, friendly attention and makes you feel especially welcome.
The food and service was amazing! We sat at one of the chefs tables and had the best experience! We will be returning for sure!
Great staff, memorable food. Perfect all around
This was the highlight on our trip to Maui! The food here was worth every penny and the staff went out of their way to give descriptions of the food that would make anyone salivate. I highly recommend the Wagyu appetizer but regrettably we didn't order the entree and so I have no input on it but I'm sure it's amazing. We also got the watermelon salad and pork belly appies and were more than pleased with them. For entrees, we received the scallop risotto, which was absolutely delectable and by recommendation, the fried chicken. The fried chicken was probably my least favorite, not bad but not as great as I expected... maybe I am just not that into fried chicken. However, it came with a piece of mochi which was really delicious and a side of sauteed kale which was bitter and inedible. I got the mousse for dessert and while the mousse was quite tasty, it came with a whole bunch of really hard & crunchy vegetable chips stuck into it everywhere. They were too crunchy to eat and made it seem like work to get to the mousse. Other than that small issue, absolutely recommend this place, it was fantastic.
This was our second time to Ka'ana kitchen. The food is fantastic and the setting is almost unbeatable.
I'm gluten-free and they had great options with minor modifications of most dishes.
Fabulous! Made our stay at the Andaz extra special.
Fabulous food, ambiance and staff!
Don’t waste your time or money. Beyond being insultingly expensive (I’m from New York so I’m no stranger to high prices but there’s a difference between paying for quality and being ripped off). The wine list starts at a $68 bottle and quickly escalates from there. Several employees recommended the fried chicken so we tried it. What a joke. It was literally no better than chicken tenders you might order for a child, covered in a sweet sauce that tasted like key lime pie. On top of feeling that this was incredibly overpriced and overrated, the service was weak. The guy pouring water had an attitude and while our server redeemed himself as the night went on, he started the evening by taking our drink order and then disappearing for 15 min before even explaining the menu to us. Stay away!!!
Everything was excellent!
