K & L Bistro
We prefer the bar.
K&Like is consistently enjoyable. The service is very good, staff is friendly and informed. The food is tasty and well presented. Portion size is reasonable.
Caesar salad was very disappointing
Lettuce now fresh
Oysters were ok
Three good and three not good
What's with the red minniotte
Often go to K&L and always have a real treat in the meal...the Cassoulet is amazing..enough for two...and the Pepper Steak with Frites is what I always get...am I in a rut? No...it's that good!!!
We were very disappointed in our last visit to K&L. We live in Napa, but have gone out of way for over 11 years to dine here. We especially go for the Mushroom Omelet, with herbs of Provence and gruyere cheese. This time, there were very few people in the restaurant and only one server. Makes sense. However, we had a very hard time tracking down our server and she did not even pour our bottle of wine, except for the first pour. Also our tablecloth and several others were badly stained. We saw the server change the paper tablecloth on several tables without changing the stained ones underneath. The worst part was that we ordered the Mushroom Omelet and there were no herbs! In all fairness, they did replace the omelet quickly and admitted that a mistake had been made, but shocked that it could leave the kitchen without one of the key ingredients. Not our best experience here.
Our waitperson, a tall young man with glasses, was not only intelligent but obviously cared about how we were. He is to be commended, paid well, promoted. I am sorry to say, the only thing I don't like about KandL is the two tv's. I know you have to amuse your bar patrons, but if I wanted to watch TV, I'd stay home. The food was wonderful, especially since we splurged on the oysters, which were beyond fresh.
Thanks very much. DDBowes
This restaurant is ok. Seems they serve their average tasting fries with everything. A real vegetable would have been nice, especially with a $20 plus crab cake entree. Drinks were good. If you’re looking to spend a little extra on average fair with descent service this would be a great option.
I was there to take my friend out for her birthday dinner. I mentioned that to the hostess and she said they'd do something special for her. That never happened. When we ordered a certain red wine, the wait staff said that they were out of it. When we ordered bread at the table, we were told that they were out of bread. Crazy! I felt like asking them if they ever heard of a store to replenish items that they're out of, like I need to do for my guests.
Always great food and a very convenient location to downtown Sebastopol.
Tuna tartare, excellent. Sauteed garlic spinach, excellent. Duck terrine, so so. Service was excellent. We would come again.
This visit was my first to K & L Bistro. We were able to park right out front, which started the experience off right. Service, from the moment we walked in, was superb - smiles all around! The food was very good, but not quite 5-star. I would definitely go again and recommend the restaurant to my friends.
Our service was excellent and the food superb. However, the venue is a bit small and noisy. I was unpleasantly surprised when a quartet of singers with percussion appeared to sing holiday songs. This made conversation impossible. Then a band member approached our table asking for donations for some unknown and unverified cause. I did not come the this restaurant to listen to music or make charitable contributions. The ambiance suffered considerably for this intrusion.
The Mussels were the best Ive ever had - beter than most I’ve had in Paris. For these alone, I would return without queston.
Enjoyed our lunch. Food was well prepared and presented.
I tried to write to management directly, but got no response so I am offering a review here. This restaurant can't decide if it is a sports bar or a dining establishment. There were barely any people in the dining room yet our service was slow, unprofessional and confused. In the meantime, the patrons at the bar were cheering very loudly for the game as was the bartender and our server. The food was good, but it wasn't compatible with the atmosphere. We should have just had burgers in the bar.
The food was delicious and the ambience, service etc was fine. This is a casual dining place, and if this is the kind of ambience you are looking for, it fits the bill. The dining tables are in an area separate from the bar where you could have a nice drink and watch sports, which is what was on the TV (soccer). The noise level is low.
My main complaint is that the menu is a bit sparse in terms of choices, with a smattering of European style bistro dishes that are paired with just ordinary French fries. The menu is quite puzzling in general. Hamburger and fries appears on the menu along with chicken piccata, peppercorn skirt steak, French onion soup and other more traditional, bistro-style, fine dining choices. It’s as if the restaurant does not quite know if it wants to be a bistro or a hamburger joint. To what audience do they want to appeal? I wish the skirt steak, which was deliciously prepared, came with a vegetable and/or fingerling potatoes rather than a pile of ordinary French fries. Otherwise the whole experience was very good.
I good was very good! I will definitely go back!
We had mussels, fries, crab cakes, Brussel sprouts and ahi tartare, followed by creme brûlée! Every item was fresh and perfectly prepared. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The short rib special was the perfect comfort food on a chilly evening. The ginger panne cotta provided a delicious change of pace.
Fabulous food! Good wine selection. A Sebastopol favorite!!
We went during lunch with two other friends, for the "Dining out for Life Food for Thought annual benefit." The Crab cakes and duck specials were very well prepared and quite tasty, the daily soup was a hit also. Our server was very well versed on the menu and very pleasant. The restaurant was quite busy when we got there, which was towards the later side of lunch, and it emptied out and got a little more quiet as we were there.
This particular evening, I was not thrilled with my dinner.
It is a wonderful restaurant. I always enjoy my experience!
Had my birthday dinner there and everything was awesome! We will definitely return.
The four of us had a great time with good service.
The carrot ginger soup was a disappointment to those who tried it as was the quiche I ordered. Neither had much flavor.
The menu was not very interesting to me.
Lovely restaurant, went for brunch. The quich was exellent, my friends Cobb Salad looked great and was very good. My husband had a mushroom omlet, there were 3 kinds of fresh mushrooms and the omelet was cooked exactly as he asked.
Very good service and quiet enough for easy conversation. Perfect!
Good food and service. Cocktail was weak
Loved the chicken piccata it was so good. I also enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. It was so charming and the service was great.
First time to K&L. Heard good things and wasn’t disappointed. Tuna tartare was excellent!! Rib eye special was good, steak undercooked for my liking. Kale Caesar Salad was very good!! Great cocktails!! Will definitely return.
Great food and nice atmosphere. Tables could be a pinch farther apart.
Food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Small portions and flavors were not very developed in the sauces and soup.
Relaxing with excellent food. Portions are more than adequate and food is carefully selected and prepared. Service is outstanding.
For us it is conveniently located. Although it is equidistant for us with Santa Rosa... Sebastopol is a more pleasant destination.
Please see my ratings. BUT, for the prices you do not even get a salad. The side offered with the meal is cheap and everyday stuff. Drinks are also overpriced. Sorry, you won't see us again. Couldn't bring myself to recommend an overpriced local bar.
We popped in for a quick bite of lunch. We will return with more time as we enjoyed it very much and the items we ordered were top-notch (including meals we enjoyed in France).
The wedge salad was gorgeous, generous and delicious. The paella was pretty good. The creme brûlée was maybe the best I have ever had. They use a brûlée iron instead of a propane torch and the burnt sugar flavor penetrated throughout the custard. The only disappointment was the frito misto appetizer. We had enjoyed it immensely on another occasion, but not this time. It was described as being fried calamari, lemon slices and artichokes, but it had no artichokes and no squid tentacles, only the rings, from which all the fried part had fallen off. Anyway, we had a lovely anniversary evening and will definitely be going back.
Great Restaurant in downtown Sebastopol. Menu was fun and inventive. Crab Cakes were the best we've had in a long long time!
I had a wonderful experience. The food was great. Service was very good.
Restaurant is in the good location with easy parking.
Food was exceptional, service was above and beyond expectations, and ambiance was pleasant.
I came in for Brunch with friends. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which in opinion, there was nothing special about it. It was your average dish, definitely not worth it being close to $20!
My friend ordered the breakfast pizza. We both agreed that it had a lingering fish taste. Yuck.
Service was great. Coffee was delicious. Food, not so great.
