I only gave three stars due to my eggs being overdone and there was very little hollandaise. I had looked forward to the Benedict for days and was disappointed that the poached eggs were dry inside. My son's meal was excellent. He had the huevos rancheros. The service was nice and under the circumstances with the coronavirus, we had a nice visit.

It was time for crews to change so it was a long time before the wait staff approached our table. Other than that it was a good experience at my favorite restaurant. Good for me anyway although not great for my vegan/gluten free husband even though I told them about him two weeks in advance through open table.
We had a very nice Valentine's Day lunch. The sauce on the BBQ brisket sandwich was a little spicy, but the fries were great and the mushroom soup was too. The smoked trout salad was excellent and the ahi tuna tartare was very fresh, but a little bit bland. Non-alcoholic drinks are excellent. Service was friendly and very good.
The menu is not overly extensive, but doesn't need to be. I ordered the signature dish, chicken piccata, and my friend ordered the butternut squash ravioli. Each was delicious in its own right. I couldn't stop eating the kale salad accompaniment, simply prepared but a wonderful contrast to the piccata sauce, the tender chicken liberally topped with canapes. The ravioli was so flavorful, accentuated by the chanterelle mushrooms. The house wines are very good and a bargain; the wine list is quite varied and more than adequate. I had a glass of excellent French Sancerre. We split the dessert, a creatively prepared lemon tart accompanied by halved kumquats plated on a thin slab of slate. Perfect!
They have a separate bar menu with small bites and a burger, and they have a new late-night happy hour with $1.50 oysters and full bar, should you have the urge. I would go here again in a heartbeat.
One of the best Happy Hours around. Oysters for $1.50 each and cocktails for $5.00. We went on Super Bowl Sunday and the restaurant was empty even with two tv's going at the bar. Food is very good.
We had a wonderful dinner . Service is impeccable. Food was delicious and the ambiance was just perfect. Will probably be one of our regular restaurants from now on
We eat at numerous Sonoma and SF restaurants, but this was our first time at K&L, and we were excited to finally give it a try. We both had the Petrale Sole, our favorite go-to fish dinner at most restaurants. However, the breading was pale and soggy, the sole was mushy, and the sauce had no flavor. It was served with over-cooked fries, no vegetables and no lemon garnish. This is a very basic dish, and we were disappointed that this seemed to be the best that K&L could do.
The pretzel was satisfactory, but not as good as Hopmonk’s.
Gravestein Grill has an excellent Petrale Sole, so there is no reason for us to go back to K&L.
Met my daughter there for some catching up so wanted somewhere we could get good food that was a little better than the usual daily fare. Also wanted to be warm and able to hear. We were not disappointed. The food was served hot and well plated. The French Onion soup was great and the Cesar salad crisp and fresh and not too much dressing. Both meat eaters we had the nightly special steak with fries and the cheeseburger - good list of cheeses to choose from. The fries were perfect and large portions. It was a lovely evening.
Good food, nice ambiance and overall fun experience. Service a bit slow but not terrible, and it was a busy Saturday nite. Would return for dinner for sure.
Please dim lights
The fluorescent lighting on the ceiling in the main dining room is awful. I’ve asked multiple times for them to dim those - really they should change the bulbs.
I remember the cozy experience K&L Bistro was when I first visited after moving to Santa Rosa in 2008. Sadly, that ambiance has changed to be like all the other popular restaurants: high ceilings and noisy. However, the food was great and we’ll be back!

We got there early for our reservation and our table was ready. We were seated immediately.
Very poor French fries; way over cooked ! .....and ambiance spoiled by far too high noise level.
Check in was screwed up with no immediate table available. Otherwise ok.
The food was delicious. The service did not come up to the level of the restaurant. The boys serving are nice but inept. They have obviously not been served in a nice restaurant and need some leadership. The main dining room was overly lit. It looked more romantic outside on the patio even though it was 45 degrees.
Impressive cocktails,service and onion soup. My wife wasn't thrilled with the calamari;my entre choice of sausages was unavailable and although I ordered my cheeseburger to be cooked medium,it arrived very well done.Also,although we ordered a side of creamed spinach,it never arrived.
Overall.I will have a tough time convincing my wife to return to try again.
With some caveats. I would avoid the Mac and Cheese as it has very little taste. Other things on the menu, mussels, steak and frites, onion soup are better than most.
Somewhat disappointed, had expected more. I had been there for lunch sometime back and it was excellent, so my expectations were high. The service was slow, our waitress though very pleasant seemed overworked. The food was less than I had thought it would be, though our daughter enjoyed her mac and cheese. Great atmosphere, our cocktails were good, the food not so great. Oh well will give another try sometime in the future, perhaps we just got an off night.
The food was fantastic. The onion soup is out of this world. Calamari is always terrific. We've eaten their steak and it was delicious, hamburger is a great buy and fun to eat. We love eating here.
First time dining at this restaurant. Big write up in local paper brought us out from Petaluma. I ordered the Chicken and fried kale. The chicken piccata was excellent. It was smothered with peppercorns. Maybe half the peppercorns would have been better. The plate and half of the chicken was covered with fried kale. The kale was flavorful but way too much. I would recommend about a third of the kale. It was just too overwhelming. That same dish with mash potato’s and a little kale would be superior. My wife ordered the raviolis and steamed spinach. The spinach was good. The raviolis were under cooked/tough. I had a glass of sparkling which was good. We finished it off with an excellent hot fudge Sunday. When we received the bill, I noticed that an additional drink was added to the bill which we didn’t order. That wine beverage was removed from our bill. Staff seemed a little overwhelmed and lacked awareness. Overall we were disappointed.
I had discontinued dining here two years ago after three bad experiences in a row. We had a great experience this time. The food was delicious, the service was good and the ambiance has always been good. We will go back again soon.
We can’t say enough about the server we had. 1) She was attentive without being omnipresent. 2) She did not ask how our food was “tasting”!!! (There ought to be a law against this.) 3) She remembered our order when we were interrupted.
Drinks came quickly and food was prepared as indicated on the menu. A very enjoyable evening.
K and L continues to be my go to local restaurant. Always consistently good.
We had a wonderful meal here while visiting Sebastopol. It’s a favorite local place for us. Started with sumptuous butternut squash soup, on to amazing salads and then filet of sole meniere and lamb sliders, ending with chocolate peanut butter torte. YUM!! All was flawlessly prepared and service was excellent. We highly recommend for local and organic ingredients that are prepared quite finely with excellent wait staff.

This was our first time to K&L Bistro and all four in our group were exceptionally pleased with our experience. Great service and delicious food at reasonable prices. This was a great find and we’ll be back when we return to the area!
Overall, food was very good. French fries however were almost uneatable. If fact, we did not eat them and questions were not asked. Main entrees were pricey for lunch.
Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. We especially liked the option of ordering from both the regular menu and the bar menu. We Will definitely come back!

Great service by Jonathan. The burgers have been better. Meat didn’t taste top quality and SUPER salty. I’ve had better there. Side salad had just the greens which seemed from a Costco spring mix box. No toppings on top just plain greens. Interesting??? The bread prior to the meal was not good at all...dry
The server made it for us. As always, the food was great but, she really took care of us, decanted the wine and generally made us feel special. This is why we Rayo it and this is whiner love K&L.?
