We were impressed! Scallops were perfect and definitely tender and tasty. The purée under them (spinach and cauliflower) was delicious. Good size portion, more than we could eat. Also ordered the side of seasonal vegetables (carrots, green beans, cauliflower) and they were great but not needed based on the size of the portion of scallops and purée.
As a starter we had the Lobster Bisque and French Onion soup. The bisque was very interesting. The broth was delicious and had a very tasty complexity. Lots of lobster (and large pieces) but it was so tough we had to cut it with a knife. The French Onion soup was delicious but there was so much cheese and it was very thick so it was hard to go through and it was chewy.
The butter cake and bourbon ice cream were the bomb! You have to try it.
Service was excellent and it was busy.
This was a New Year’s Eve dinner, it was an great choice. The feed was delicious and service was great. Would definitely return
It's a hotel steakhouse and the food is not up to par with what a steakhouse should serve. You would be better leaving the property and finding a better option. That said, if you are stuck at the airport, it's an ok option.
The best place to eat in the row of hotels near to LAX by far
The service was what I expected, however I ordered my ribeye extra rare and it was medium rare. It was under seasoned and the horseradish cream was no more than unsalted butter. I was exhausted at the end of a long day and simply too tired to wait to have the serve the meal as I ordered it, so I did not send it back. I will continue to go to Lowery's for the ribeye.
Pleasant and relaxing. Top-notch service. Quality Filet. Well-mixed cocktails.
For a hotel steakhouse, JWs is pretty good. Compared to the major chains, it falls a bit short. The service is below average for fine steakhouses. Well- meant but not polished. Our waiter was hard to understand and missed the details I would expect for hundred dollar per person dining. The food was good. I had the surf and turf and the lobster tail was huge, but slightly overdone. My steak was perfect. Beet and arugula salad was uninspired. The wine by the glass list was standard fare. If I were in the neighborhood and didn't want to venture out, I would eat here again. Good for a business dinner where impressing someone isn't the main point of the meal.
The food, service, & atmosphere was great! My server Augustine was polite & very accommodating. Will definitely go again when in LA.
Filet was mediocre at best. Over done and dry and lacking rich flavor. Wait staff forgot to serve our salads. Not the superior value of JW experiences.
JW Steakhouse food was sub-par for the LA scene. I expected more in better tasting food. I ordered the garlic shrimp for the starter. The shrimp was to peppery and soaked in a bowl of garlic in butter. I probably could have gotten the same thing at Red Lobster and it would have tasted better and cost less. The French Onion soup was good but not spectacular. The sear scallops tasted the same as the the garlic shrimp, too peppery. Needed more balance with seasonings between the sear scallops and the puree with spinach which was bland. The service was great! Thanks Augustin! The ambiance was too loud. I could hear people's conversations across the room. Need better acoustic ceilings and walls. Anyway, overall it was fair but I wouldn't go back again.
