JW's Steakhouse - Marriott LAX Ratings and Reviews
We were impressed! Scallops were perfect and definitely tender and tasty. The purée under them (spinach and cauliflower) was delicious. Good size portion, more than we could eat. Also ordered the side of seasonal vegetables (carrots, green beans, cauliflower) and they were great but not needed based on the size of the portion of scallops and purée.
As a starter we had the Lobster Bisque and French Onion soup. The bisque was very interesting. The broth was delicious and had a very tasty complexity. Lots of lobster (and large pieces) but it was so tough we had to cut it with a knife. The French Onion soup was delicious but there was so much cheese and it was very thick so it was hard to go through and it was chewy.
The butter cake and bourbon ice cream were the bomb! You have to try it.
Service was excellent and it was busy.
The service was what I expected, however I ordered my ribeye extra rare and it was medium rare. It was under seasoned and the horseradish cream was no more than unsalted butter. I was exhausted at the end of a long day and simply too tired to wait to have the serve the meal as I ordered it, so I did not send it back. I will continue to go to Lowery's for the ribeye.
For a hotel steakhouse, JWs is pretty good. Compared to the major chains, it falls a bit short. The service is below average for fine steakhouses. Well- meant but not polished. Our waiter was hard to understand and missed the details I would expect for hundred dollar per person dining. The food was good. I had the surf and turf and the lobster tail was huge, but slightly overdone. My steak was perfect. Beet and arugula salad was uninspired. The wine by the glass list was standard fare. If I were in the neighborhood and didn't want to venture out, I would eat here again. Good for a business dinner where impressing someone isn't the main point of the meal.
JW Steakhouse food was sub-par for the LA scene. I expected more in better tasting food. I ordered the garlic shrimp for the starter. The shrimp was to peppery and soaked in a bowl of garlic in butter. I probably could have gotten the same thing at Red Lobster and it would have tasted better and cost less. The French Onion soup was good but not spectacular. The sear scallops tasted the same as the the garlic shrimp, too peppery. Needed more balance with seasonings between the sear scallops and the puree with spinach which was bland. The service was great! Thanks Augustin! The ambiance was too loud. I could hear people's conversations across the room. Need better acoustic ceilings and walls. Anyway, overall it was fair but I wouldn't go back again.
We met our daughter and son-in-law between incoming and outgoing flights at nearby LAX for their 25th Anniversary and were all very pleased both with our cocktails in the bar and then dinner in JW's Restaurant. We used valet parking which was validated by the restaurant.
Drinks horrible way to much bitter one tequila sdtink very spicy drink still burning our mouths we now have sores inside from just one sip we told them no one could drink it? They are not making it right. Steaks not much flavor same with side dishes no overall jump out flavors. Service was excellent thou; we had a great waiter but no won't recommend or go back - unless I read improvements I won't try again I real waste of my $206 spend on my bill at this restaurant !!! on also stayed night early am flight Marriott members
The parking sign indicated a 3hr validation for guest enjoying dinner at the resturant. We gave the waiter the ticket for validation when we paid for our meal. When we placed our parking ticket into the machine it charged us $25.00. We were there under 3 hours and still had to pay for the parking which was unexpected.
My husband and I were in town for the weekend and we decided to check this place out on our last night in town for a nice dinner. I made a reservation and we got there just a few minutes early. We stood there for 5 minutes before we were acknowledged...by acknowledged I mean I walked in and got the attention of someone to let them know we were waiting to be seated. A few seconds later the young lady who was supposed to be the greeter came and got the menus and said "follow me". No apologies for the wait, just nothing. It was hard to not take note that the three other couples who came after us were greet immediately and seated accordingly. I hate to admit, I wondered if we were just the wrong color...I will leave it at that.
Dinner was splendid, our waiter was awesome. I'd recommend the food and drinks for sure.
I read a previous open table review that said how the steak wasn't seasoned and was not very good for the price. I thought surely that was an off night, what chef doesn't session the steak before grilling it. Well, evidently the chef at JW Steakhouse. The ribeye was awful. For the price, this is ridiculous. Also, out appeared on the menu, I believe, it was so small I had to look closely that the steaks were "select". This restaurant didn't even offer its customers choice, let alone prone headed beef. My ribeye was tough to cut. I also had the garlic shrimp. Awful. This chef should go to the Portuguese restaurant outside Newark, NJ to understand how well garlic shrimp can be prepared. Never Ashrafi will I waste money in the JW Steakhouse.
Needed a place to eat near LAX and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal and overall caliber of the resturant at the JW Marriott. Our steaks and salads were really very good and the dessert was excellent. I will keep this one on my list for dining options in this part of the City or any business meal in general.
My daughter and I stayed there before I flew home on an early flight. We decided to go to the nicer restaurant for a bite.
We shared the crab cakes which were delicious and we each got a wedge salad, which could have been shareable for us.
I had asked for a Diet Coke and our waitress said they had Diet Pepsi, then she said let me check my private stash. She came back with a can of Diet Coke. That was great service! Especially when we weren't ordering gigantic meals!
