Terrible service. Mediocre food. They know the customer is trapped at an airport hotel and it shows.
The lobster bisque is a must, as is the rack of lamb - imho.
Reunion of family and friends
Excellent restaurant! Very comfortable atmosphere. Classy!
The food was fabulous and the server was great! Loved everything about it!!
Asked the chef to create something vegan and were very much surprised at the quality options. Turns out the chef was vegan himself and the restaurant is already working on having some vegan options on their regular menu. We were just passing through and it was nice not to have to leave our hotel when it was already late to find vegan food.
Great food. Vuksan is one of the finest waiters in the usa
Consistently excellent food. Not inexpensive but well worth it. Friendly and professional staff. Always enjoy a meal there while visiting Los Angeles
Late birthday dinner with an early flight the next day.
The hostess Kim was pleasant and professional. We had a reservation and were seated promptly.
Our server Victor was his usual self --- courteous, attentive, efficient and helpful.
The food was delicious. All of our steaks and chops were prepared to our requested level.
The side dishes were their usual pleasant standard.
The wine list, though not robust, offered labels that paired well with the menu items.
Our business group have never had a bad meal here over the years and despite others' occasional unfortunate experiences at this venue, we can trufully state that we have been very pleased with our encounters. This is our standard meeting place when we need to bring in colleagues from all points within the state for a business meal.
I had read some great reviews, and since I was staying in an airport hotel next-door decided to give it a try. While the server was quite nice, this ended up being one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. For $50 I was served a steak that was so overdone it was tough and chewy. I sent it back, reminding the waiter I’d asked a Steak that was pink in the center. There’s an open kitchen so I could see when he took the plate back to the chef, and he wasn’t happy. Five minutes later they sent the same steak back, which had been put back under the grill and cooked some more. I couldn’t of felt more insulted if he had brought it back over and throwing it in my face. The waiter tried to be conciliatory them quickly port me another glass of wine. But I was done with the place, and I will never go back.
Was staying at the Marriott at LAX and given the paucity of restaurants in this area opted for the JW steakhouse. Service was excellent but the food was just average in my opinion. The wedge salad had way too much dressing and I usually like dressing. I ended up ordering salmon. It was good sized but really lacking in flavor even with the lemon I squeezed over it. The bread basket accompanying the meal was good. I had no room for dessert. Overall cost for the salad and entree with tip and no beverage was $62 so this is a pretty costly restaurant. Not sure I would return again.
A delicious and delightful meal with a friend before she was to get on her flight home.
Highly recommend this steakhouse in the Marriot LAX if looking for a nice place to grab a meal before or after a flight.
There is also a sports bar and a Starbucks in the same lobby, plus valet parking that is validated for a couple hours if you eat at either the steakhouse or go to the bar.
Server, Grace was great Food was very good. I would go here again.
Very disappointed in the service. Hard to understand the waiter and really didn't check back much or act very interested.I expected more from the JW Steakhouse especially at their price point! It was not very busy either so all the more reason for the waiter to be more attentive. There are lots of choice available for steaks. Need to do a lot better
Good place on business travel - I would go again for a steak and wine
Pleasant dinner. Staff accommodating. Food good but pricey. However I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there.
Hostess was not nice. Needed reservation so we were turned away and quoted 45 min wait with tables open.
So went on open table and got a reservation in 12 mins.
So she was just being a jerk to us.
Having the name JW Steakhouse named from JW Marriott, we thought it would be good but paid almost $50 for a $5.00 supermarket rib eye.
Very poor. No one cared or even asked at end if meal how it was.
Ill never go there again.
Nothing special but very expensive.
Best choice in the LAX food desert. Food is reliable and very middle-America. Service was efficient and attentive. We liked it!
The steak was rare, I ordered medium. The service was poor.
The selection menu included a Table d'hôte and regular choice of steaks. We opted for the scallops and got 5 large ones on a bed of cauliflower-spinach purée. Unfortunately there was way too much salt added. We should have told the chef. Next time we will. The steak was cooked according to my taste, I took the NY steak.
No room for dessert. The wine by the glass was very good.
Great service. Mediocre food
We were impressed! Scallops were perfect and definitely tender and tasty. The purée under them (spinach and cauliflower) was delicious. Good size portion, more than we could eat. Also ordered the side of seasonal vegetables (carrots, green beans, cauliflower) and they were great but not needed based on the size of the portion of scallops and purée.
As a starter we had the Lobster Bisque and French Onion soup. The bisque was very interesting. The broth was delicious and had a very tasty complexity. Lots of lobster (and large pieces) but it was so tough we had to cut it with a knife. The French Onion soup was delicious but there was so much cheese and it was very thick so it was hard to go through and it was chewy.
The butter cake and bourbon ice cream were the bomb! You have to try it.
Service was excellent and it was busy.
This was a New Year’s Eve dinner, it was an great choice. The feed was delicious and service was great. Would definitely return
It's a hotel steakhouse and the food is not up to par with what a steakhouse should serve. You would be better leaving the property and finding a better option. That said, if you are stuck at the airport, it's an ok option.
The best place to eat in the row of hotels near to LAX by far
The service was what I expected, however I ordered my ribeye extra rare and it was medium rare. It was under seasoned and the horseradish cream was no more than unsalted butter. I was exhausted at the end of a long day and simply too tired to wait to have the serve the meal as I ordered it, so I did not send it back. I will continue to go to Lowery's for the ribeye.
Pleasant and relaxing. Top-notch service. Quality Filet. Well-mixed cocktails.
For a hotel steakhouse, JWs is pretty good. Compared to the major chains, it falls a bit short. The service is below average for fine steakhouses. Well- meant but not polished. Our waiter was hard to understand and missed the details I would expect for hundred dollar per person dining. The food was good. I had the surf and turf and the lobster tail was huge, but slightly overdone. My steak was perfect. Beet and arugula salad was uninspired. The wine by the glass list was standard fare. If I were in the neighborhood and didn't want to venture out, I would eat here again. Good for a business dinner where impressing someone isn't the main point of the meal.
The food, service, & atmosphere was great! My server Augustine was polite & very accommodating. Will definitely go again when in LA.
Filet was mediocre at best. Over done and dry and lacking rich flavor. Wait staff forgot to serve our salads. Not the superior value of JW experiences.
JW Steakhouse food was sub-par for the LA scene. I expected more in better tasting food. I ordered the garlic shrimp for the starter. The shrimp was to peppery and soaked in a bowl of garlic in butter. I probably could have gotten the same thing at Red Lobster and it would have tasted better and cost less. The French Onion soup was good but not spectacular. The sear scallops tasted the same as the the garlic shrimp, too peppery. Needed more balance with seasonings between the sear scallops and the puree with spinach which was bland. The service was great! Thanks Augustin! The ambiance was too loud. I could hear people's conversations across the room. Need better acoustic ceilings and walls. Anyway, overall it was fair but I wouldn't go back again.
Great food, steaks were fantastic along with great service. Much more then expected, it really was a true steak house servicing quality meats.
Our waiter was exceptionally nice, helpful and accommodating!!!
Great steaks and great crab cupcakes. ! Nice people
We met our daughter and son-in-law between incoming and outgoing flights at nearby LAX for their 25th Anniversary and were all very pleased both with our cocktails in the bar and then dinner in JW's Restaurant. We used valet parking which was validated by the restaurant.
Drinks horrible way to much bitter one tequila sdtink very spicy drink still burning our mouths we now have sores inside from just one sip we told them no one could drink it? They are not making it right. Steaks not much flavor same with side dishes no overall jump out flavors. Service was excellent thou; we had a great waiter but no won't recommend or go back - unless I read improvements I won't try again I real waste of my $206 spend on my bill at this restaurant !!! on also stayed night early am flight Marriott members
Filet and lobster was delish! Smaller filet though. T-bone was flavorless and tough. Valet guy, Seth, was the best!
Excellent as always, Augustin is the best waiter that I have ever experienced. Steaks and Seafood are outstanding
