JW's Steakhouse - Griffin Gate Marriott Resort Ratings and Reviews
We had a party of 3 and there were only a few people there. All staff was great. Pasta (Alfredo) was over cooked pasta and my baked potato had a really bad spot in the middle that would have been seen if they split open the potato before serving. Filet mignon was delish!
I was truly disappointed in this restaurant. I guess I had hoped for something with more ambience. We had read the description as being a steakhouse with surf and turf... this just was not accurate. There were no surf and tirf options that we found. We were expecting more of a restaurant rather than an open extension of the hotel. There was literally only one table there besides us and it was so bright and open, it lacked that intimate feel. I think this would be good for groups of people staying at the hotel for a wedding or conference, but not a date night restaurant. In addition, we found a string or piece of cloth in the crab cakes, which made us wonder what else was in the food. The wait staff was friendly. We actually didn't order a dinner there, as we didn't feel the cost was with it, after finding something in our appetizer...
Loud hotel restaurant. Pleasant service.
VERY mediocre food. Both NY strip and filet completely lacked any flavor or juiciness. No crust and medium rare was really rare. Served next to a single small potato.
Humus platter extremely overpriced for a blob of tasteless humus and a few carrots. Pita was warm tho
Would not go back for dinner. Overpriced.
This place is not what it used to be. The experience used to be top notch, from the eclectic menu to the great service. Now...unfortunately, it is a ghost of a restaurant. Overpriced, generic and disappointing. My husband and I have eaten here for over 10 years and this experience will keep us from ever coming back. Horrible service, bad food and lame atmosphere. Sorry, save your money, you are better off at Denny's next door!!
The service was a bit slow and the entree's didn't come with many sides. Typically we are used to a salad and a side. It would also be nice to offer bread and butter while waiting for dinner. Waitress was super nice however we waited for a long time for our dinner.
chicken picatta was delicious. However, I think it is rude to charge me $6 extra because I requested 2 different sides that were not paired with this entree. Always trying to gouge the customer. Marriott shame on you. I'm sure the baked potato I requested did not cost you $6 more.
This was unbelievably overpriced for the food we received.
Steaks not cooked right, tough and flavorless, baked potatoes cold and undercooked. 20% gratuity added for party of 6. Our server was good but he was the only positive thing about our evening.
$300 meal that was worse then eating at a cheap chain steak restaurant.
Ordered the filet and Im not sure what cut of meat it was...looked like a burger (thats what my daughter asked if I ordered without a bun....tender but not a near quality filet mignon)....asparagus spears overcooked. Cauliflower mash was very good ...subbed for mashed potatoes. Tried my wifes steak sliders...not good...very tough.
Our server was friendly, but the service was slower than expected for the relatively few patrons that were present. The Ahi Tuna appetizer was pretty good. Our Steaks were cooked to correct temperature, but not otherwise particularly noteworthy; no better than I can cook at home. The Broccoli was steamed correctly but not seasoned. The Mushroom risoto was very bland. With Appetizer, two steak dinners, and two cocktails from the bar, the bill before tip, was $117. Overall not an impressive meal and poor value for the cost.
Service and staff was very attentive and timely but not so much as to be intrusive. Food was top notch and delicious but just a bit more expensive that it needed to be. We dined there as a celebration for my wife's birthday and the restaurant made to sure to recognize her special day without too much attention. Overall we will plan on having other special occasions and family gatherings at this establishment.
Our waitress Darlene was a gem! The food was amazing. The risotto with our cowboy steak was dry but the steak was highly flavorable and the butter cake with bourbon sauce wow!!! The highlight: CRABCAKES!!! I am not the type of foodie that eats at hotels..but I will be going back. Kudo's to the chef!!!
Would recommend only if you are captive at the resort. Some of the dishes ordered at our table were so over salted they were nearly uneatable. Our waiter never told us there were specials and only found out about them while overhearing at another table. Steaks were good, just nothing special. Wine list nothing special and by the glass selection was poor.
The food is good but a little on the pricey side and the steak was more medium than medium rare. The server was energetic but her attention wandered once the meal was brought to the table. We visited the restaurant on Valentines day which happened to be kinda nasty weather but there were some brave souls out there and the ambience in the restaurant was so so.
Went there for Valentine's Day dinner and breakfast both were great, with great service. Waiter gave us a free dessert because the group at the table beside us was so loud, without us mentioning it. Steak was perfect. Crab cakes may have been the best we had. Price is what you would expect from a nicer restaurant. Will return. Highly recommend.
Had a reservation for Christmas dinner and we were delayed so I called to let them know. Left a voicemail as there wasn't a person to answer the phone and when we arrived, a half hour late, I mentioned that I had called to let them know and had left a message. They were very busy at the front desk and hadn't checked their messages. We were seated right away but then had to wait for our waiter as he had a variety of additional tables and no helper. Dinner was fine, everything tasty and the waiter was wonderful. I think I'd rather go back on a non-holiday however when it may be less hectic for everyone.
We were at the Marriott Griffen Gate for the weekend and had our first dinner at JW Steakhouse. The service was good, and one of our party had a salmon dish that we all WISHED we had ordered. Wonderful flavor and cooked perfectly. My steak was not as tender as I would hope in a place with steakhouse in the name, but it was flavorful. Our third person was very happy with her vegetarian choice. Adjoining bar was quite lively and fun, and we all admired the modern and interesting decor. Would definitely eat at least one meal there again if we were to return to that hotel.
