JW's Steakhouse - Griffin Gate Marriott Resort
The service was terrible. It took almost 2 hours to get our food. The server was very apologetic. The kitchen was the issue. The food was mediocre. Good drinks.
We waited forever for our food. We were told this was because the kitchen was backed up. Yet when it finally came it was cold ... and still very over priced!
Darlene, our server was fabulous. I would love to bottle her up and take her home as she delivered Excellent service!!
We have been here many times over the years and this was the best experience yet. The service was wonderful and all of our meals were excellent!
My wife’s steak came bloody rare which she had requested med so we sent it back and it came back burnt.
A quality steak house would have fired a new one , as once cooked you can’t go back and cook it again and expect good results . Cooking 101 !
Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience at JW Steakhouse. My Caesar salad arrived without any salad dressing but was tasty from the anchovies and capers. The parmesan crisps holding the anchovies, capers and cheese was an interesting addition to the salad but they were soggy.
My main course arrived while I was still eating my salad which I found to be very annoying. I ordered a porterhouse steak cooked medium but it was actually well done and of mediocre quality, unlike similar cuts of steak I have experienced at numerous other steakhouses.
There was an unusually long delay in clearing my table after I finished eating and my server did not offer dessert. I had to ask if dessert was available. I also asked for an espresso and was told that I could get it at the adjacent Starbucks. He then brought me a lukewarm black coffee which was obviously not freshly brewed. To my dismay, he gave me a spoon with which to eat my chocolate cake and I had to ask for a fork.
Darlene was our server, she was AWESOME! Hats off to the Chef, the burger was perfect!
Always a great meal! Went for burger week and had the shrimp and grits appetizer - so AWESOME!!!
We enjoy dining here. Excellent food and service every time.
nice restaurant but the meal was served as there was no tomorrow.
I had not finished my appetizer that the main course was put on the table.
No time to relax and digest, felt like a stuffed goose.
When mentioned to the server, she said she would tell the chef but I am still waiting for a word of apology from the chef.
We stopped here for dinner on our way to a concert in Rupp. Very pleasant experience and the food was well prepared. Our server was excellent.
Steaks were both over cooked and under cooked at our table. Salads were not very good. Vegetables were over cooked. Wine was not good. Overall price was way too high for the quality. I do not recommend.
Overall bad food. Overpriced and had to salt everything to taste. No Taste at all.
Delicious food. Darlene was terrific!
Way overpriced for the value of the food. Bottle wine was $38. Same bottle at liquor store was $18.. salmon was overcooked.
Nice place - food okay
Very dried out pork chop. Over cooked salmon. Not worth the value.
Food was good but very overpriced for what we got. My valentines day special pork chop was very good and a decent value. The issue was with what my fiancée got, she got pasta bar that cost $18 for a VERY mediocre pasta, chicken, veggies and cold hard bread. My wine was very good but very overpriced, paid $11 for the glass when the retail bottle is less than $8.
Service was slow for a $60 meal, but the waitress was very nice and knew what she was doing. May have been under staffed.
My main issue was the ambiance of the restaurant, we had no idea there was a conference going on that had many people there eating that did not care what they looked like or what they sounded like. Took away from the romantic atmosphere we wanted for a Valentine’s Day dinner.
Overall the food was good, it’s just the little things I wish they would have done better.
New Year’s Eve and place was empty and the staff seemed unhappy to be there and couldn’t have been a worse place to have spent New Years Eve for dinner...doubt I’d return
We spent the night At the Griffin Gate for my birthday. We decided to not go out for dinner to a fancy restaurant b/c there was a steakhouse restaurant in the hotel. We made a reservation, as we assumed they would be busy. We went down for our 7pm reservation, and there were 2 tables at the bar with people and only one on the main dining area. I would not consider this a steak house, I would consider it a hotel breakfast lounge area. The waitress was even getting the tables rest for breakfast in the AM. The burgers were delishes.
Friendly folks. Great waitress. Really good food
Service was very slow. May have been under staffed.
The service could have been better. Our server disappeared several times. The food on the buffet was delicious. We were there at 11:30 am - until 1 pm, there weren't many people there at that time, therefore it was a nice quiet environment. I think if the server had processed our bill once we were ready, that would have been nice. Also, if she had taken the plates off the table from the buffet would have been nice too.
Steak was good but over priced. If they want the locals consider this.
Seemingly nothing was seasoned at all and made for a very bland meal. Way too expensive of a meal for such poor food preparation.
Eat there often and food normally is quite good! Food temperature was lukewarm at best, Hot chicken was extremely greasy
Darlene was awesome as always!
The steak was terrific but the baked potato was cold. I didn’t tell the wait staff because she was busy and I didn’t want to bother her.
Food quality and portions not worth the price!
Went here for Burger Week. In its day this was a first class steak house. It is now been remodeled into a cheap hotel restaurant that has the ambience of a cafeteria. Hard to believe this is a Marriott Resort. The burger was very good and our waitress was very nice. But a look at the prices on the dinner menu, given the atmosphere is bewildering. $30 for a chicken breast - you've got to be kidding.
Anniversary dinner. Warm sourdough bread was great. Good martinis and good salad and steak. We often come here for special occasions.
The food was ok, ambiance below average, and high priced. I probably won’t repeat.
One of the worst experiences ever. The place was packed and I never saw more than two servers handling a ton of tables. Well, not handling, that's the problem.
I had the blackened salmon BLT sandwich and it was great !!! So mag different flavors in one bite it was amazing. I def recommend it !!
I reserved this restaurant for Valentine’s Day since this is where we had our wedding. I was very disappointed with the quality of the food that was brought to the table. We spent over $140 dollars and both of our entrees were cold. I couldn’t even say the food was warm because it was that bad. I complained to our waitress and asked her to take the food back to warm it up. She brought our meals back and the food came out warm at the most. So basically I completely hated the food and wasted money. I would have much rather ate at Texas Roadhouse. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The restaurant wasn’t even busy to justify the food being so horrible.
The food was very good but not memorable and overpriced when compared to comparable restaurants. Service was good.
When I arrived the waiter saw us but did not acknowledge us. The bartender did not bother to look at us while speaking. The waiter was nice but not the best. The food did not have any seasoning or flavor. The steaks were not cooked as requested. Food was very bland and the Bloody Mary I ordered was very pungent and tasted of pure dijon mustard.
We took my elderly Mother for Christmas Day lunch. The lunch was a buffet although it is a stretch to even call it that. Salad consisted of greens, tomatoes, carrots and several dressings. I did not end up eating mine as the ranch dressing was not very good. On the, so called, buffet there was turkey (rather bland) stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy and an omelet station, but no bacon was offered to go with the omelet. Desert was apple or pecan pie, bread pudding and some sort of green filled chocolate cake. I have never seen such a pitiful buffet anywhere I have eaten. It would not have been quite so bad had the price been in keeping with what was offered, but at $30.00 + per person this was just ridiculous. Other restaurants at this price offer carved ham, carved roast beef, shrimp, sometimes crab claws, bacon, and sausage, in addition to turkey, omelets, huge salad bars with a variety of salads, numerous vegetable choices, fruit and marvelous deserts to choose from. I would certainly not return to this restaurant again and would not suggest it to anyone.
Food for a Christmas brunch was good. A more varied selection would help. The service was excellent. A great alternative if one does not want to cook a Xmas dinner and clean. The ambiance is very nice.
I had a rubber band in my food from asparagus and it was just brushed off. Still paid for the upcharge. That was disappointing In an otherwise nice meal. It doesn't take much to keep a happy customer.
