Our server was fantastic. He gave recommendations for each course, made us feel welcome and like we were his only table. It was a special occasion as I was visiting from BC and only get to see my family once or twice a year. The entire experience was flawless
This was our first time at Teca. Our waiter Sean made it a great experience. We sat close to the kitchen and enjoyed watching the meal prep and also engaging the staff working in the kitchen. The food, wine and atmosphere made it a very enjoyable experience, everything was excellent.
We shared a salad and had a pasta dish each (linguine with shrimp, spaghetti and meatballs). Salad was very good. Pasta dishes were only okay, expected more for the price point. We ate here three years ago, and had been impressed with the food. Service was excellent. Convenient if you’re staying at the resort.
Our experience at TECA could not have been any better. We went as a group of 6 and were celebrating an engagement and birthday. Sean (the most amazing server EVER!!) took exceptional care of us throughout the entire evening. Sean made us feel so special, we could not have imagined a more perfect evening to celebrate our engagement. His thoughtfulness, knowledgeable tasting suggestions and just his overall presence took our dining experience to another level. The atmosphere, food, service and overall experience was fantastic! Highly recommend this restaurant if you are staying at the resort or locally, and most definitely request Sean if he is available, you will not be disappointed!
Our experience was nothing short of amazing. We went early December, in between the busy summer season and just before Christmas. We ordered the braised octopus to start, the paperdelle carbonera, and tomato risotto. The service was excellent, the food was phenomenal, and the ambiance was perfect. Highly recommended!
Very bad experience for a special occassion! Had a reservation for 6people and table was only set for 5, ordered a bottle of wine...presented but no taste offered, waited almost 2 hours for our meals...and only 2 of us had simple appetizers, food mediocre (for the high price!!) when it did finally arrive..risotto undercooked, duck overdone and dry, pasta very plain...and no one asked how are meals were. Addressed the waitstaff re time ect..just kept getting put off or ignored. Waited again forever for our bills...then came all one one bill., wait staff annoyed when we asked for separate bills, spoke with manager to no avail...he basically told us it was our fault bc we were a large party and said that we should have said something sooner ( which we did X 3). Very sad as this was a big birthday celebration..we did not even stay for dessert and we still didnt get put of there til 1100. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!!
The food was incredible but our experience was dampened by the terrible service. We waited for 30 minutes after being seated for a waiter to ask us if we wanted drinks, and he didn't even ask if we wanted drinks he asked us what we wanted to eat. I replied that we actually would like a drink to start. Then We waited another 10 minutes before my husbands drink was brought (i had to wait another 10 minutes before my wine was brought). It was our anniversary, and the restaurant was told this when they called me that day to confirm. There was no mention of happy anniversary at all. I used to work in the service industry for years, and am not one to complain, but found this to be a Terri or experience. If the waiter was overworked or short staffed, a simple explanation would have made it all fine.
Delicious salads and mains. Dessert was a little different. I had their tiramisu and wafers were rock hard. Presentation seemed like a bowl of goop was thrown together in a small soup bowl. Not sure what happened. It was not the way tiramisu is normally served or presented. And taste was not something that was worthy of complimenting either.
The restaurant had a lot of promise as we walked in. The hostess and our waitress were attentive. They brought us water and drinks right away. Then we waited. And waited and waited. The bread that was promised arrive 40 minutes after we were seated. The meal 1 hr and 20 minutes after seating. The open kitchen had ample staff and the restaurant was not full. But the idle waiting took a lot away from the meal. The meal taste was good but not worth the wait. Despite numerous complaints about the wait in other reviews the management has not clued in. Next time. I will eat off the resort. The waitress did offer us free dessert but we didn't all order one as we didn't want to penalize her.
After a few good meals at Teca we've now had a few in a row that disappointed. Friendly greeting from the waiter, charcuterie and salads arrived fairly quickly and were fine, but not better than fine. It was downhill from there unfortunately. While we ordered entrees right away it took almost 2 hours to have them served. When we asked the manager what was taking so long, we were asked what we ordered. Should it really matter after almost 2 hours? She then pointed out that the lamb served medium was the delay. Ummm not the first time I've ordered meat! Well they rushed from there so the lamb came out rare. My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs. She took a few bites and left the table with the newborn. I thought the pasta was actually good, homemade and light although the meatballs were dry. The kids meals were good and were also good value. The waiter did try to save things with some extra desserts for kids which was appreciated but a family resort needs to turn a table in less than 3 hours to keep people happy. It's doubtful we'll be back.
Had the lobster ravioli and nothing to brag about. My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs and it was dry. Not impressed with the food. People at another table complained on the same meal and the lamb was returned by a gentleman saying it was the most horrible thing he has ever tasted. The sad part is they did nothing.
I would like to suggest that you expand your menu to include people will food allergies ( I have a garlic allergy and there was very little for me to have), I would have loved pasta but was unable to have any even after sending a message before we went to the restaurant that I had this allergy.
Proof once again that obnoxious people can ruin the best venues and even great food. Loved the restaurant, but a table of 12 wrecked the evening yelling vlgarities at each other. Surprised that the restaurant did not say anything, but I guess the venue can't win if they say something the 12 people will leave unhappy! I am part of the other side and say that without saying anything the other 30 patrons are unhappy and did not enjoy a expensive meal at a fine restaurant! I was one of the unhappy people. The food and service was good enough that I will try this restaurant again, but the lease will short and if it happen again, I will not return.
We went to the restaurant for a special occasion. I read about their slow service ahead of time, hoping it wasn't true. But sure enough it was! The main course took easily 40-45 mins to come after the appetizers. The waiter's tone was a little over confident, and he proved to be the case when there was a misunderstanding on kids meal. Some of the dishes were good and some were so-so. The restaurant was kind enough to make the dessert extra special for the ocassion, which was nice. Overall an "ok" experience.
The Rousseau though was a beautiful property!
We are long time repeat guests of JW Marriott Muskoka and this visit we realized something isn't quite right. From our Teca dining experience (calamari wasn't up to par, portions were different, menu has been scaled down, etc). Overall hotel experience was the same as our previous visits. Our room wasn't made on our first morning. We came back from our swim at 6pm, and our room was still not cleaned. We had to get our own bath towels and shampoo to get ready for dinner. When we came back to our room at 10:30pm, our room was done. Also we found a fly in our salad. Also, spa was completely booked until 1 day after our stay. Disappointed as I always look forward to services at the spa. We made the best of our stay but it's not quite the same as we remembered JW Marriott Muskoka to be.
The food was tasty and well prepared (not always the case with risotto) with decent sized portions. The service, like the service at rest of the property, was slow. Food took a long time, unused wine glasses were never cleared (a real hazard at a table with 4 small children), menus were left on the table for the duration of our meal. This wasn't exclusively our servers fault, the floor manager walked by our table several times and never righted the situation either. Minor quibbles, but it speaks volumes about the attention to detail. Overall, a decent experience, but definitely not flawless.
Bocconcini salad was good.
Calamari fritti was good but hardly anything on plate for price.
Lobster ravioli was served lukewarm/cold. Apparently a signature dish- wasn't fantastic.
Seafood platter was served missing a component on 2 plates.
Kids spaghetti contained packaged meatballs- really not difficult to make homemade especially since they are supposed to be an upper scale restaurant.
All in all overpriced for quality and quantity of food.
Had a wonderful couple of meals at Teca during my vacation at JW Marriott. The service staff are very responsive and are willing to help in any way. I ordered the linguine carbonara and it was very good. I think they make pasta fresh. Will definitely find an opportunity to go again if I every stay at JW Marriott again.
Serving staff were amazing. The beef tenderloin was the best we have ever had. The polenta served with it was dry and inedible. The 4 stars on food is still warranted because the beef was so excellent. Lots of wine selection both by the bottle and the glass.
This was a very disappointing experience. The food at the JW Muskoka is often excellent but they must have had their B team in the Teca kitchen. The food was overly salty or lacking in flavour. The dishes often didn't match their description. Overall, I expected much more from a restaurant that charges such high prices.
