JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka - Muskoka Chophouse
Veal chop special was really great. Service outstanding. Last time we ate here it was not great..we didnt go back for a year but went last night because or usual restaurant was booked. We were very pleasantly surprised and will be back again!
Brandon was amazing!
Muskoka Chophouse made our wedding anniversary very special. We appreciated their attention and may make this an annual celebration!!
Great dinner, well presented and explained by our food and wine expert Brendan. Fantastic wine list but not pretentious. Cannot wait until our next visit.
This is a decent steakhouse; you are paying a Muskoka price premium (i.e. you would expect everything to be a little better for the price if you were to have this in Toronto). I feel like we paid Jacobs & Co prices but it wasn't quite there in terms of service/food. That said, everything was delicious - just pricey. We had the oysters and crab cake to start. The crab cake is supposedly one of their signature items, and it is delicious. We both had steak - I had a filet, and my partner had the prime rib. Cooked perfectly. For sides we had the mushrooms and the mashed potatoes - no complaints. They brought us a massive creme brulee for dessert for a special occasion which was lovely.
The biggest downside was they were clearly understaffed. Our waiter (can't remember his name) was great, but he was super busy (as were the other few people working). Drinks took a while to arrive after ordering, and everything was slightly slow. The waiter knew and he did try to make up for it the best he could, which we appreciated.
Our server, Nitin, could not have been more wonderful. That said, there were not enough servers so as expected, it took longer to get something requested, like refills, etc. This was not his fault. He was working very hard. The crabcakes were divine. I highly recommend. I had the special, cornish game hen. It was very tasty. My only complaint was that I took part of it to go and later realized that the leg and thigh portion was still pink on the inside. After that, I couldn't eat it.
The Muskoka Chophouse is a very small restaurant. My husband I arrived early for our reservation, because there are only a few tables set for two and although we made a reservation in advance, the restaurant manager told us that they take "walk-ins". He went on to say that they do try, but they can't guarantee the table location or any other requests made at the time of reservation. I found this statement to be a little disappointing. What is the point of making a reservation, if "walk ins" can be put ahead of customers who take the time to reserve?
The bumpy start to our evening when greeted by the manager at the reservation desk at the Chophouse was quickly saved - all because of our server, Brenden. He was incredible. Very professional, polite, and knowledgeable with the menu items and wine selections.
Brenden made our evening very memorable and special.
The steaks (filet and striploin) my husband I both ordered were prepared and cooked to perfection. The side dishes we shared (mushrooms and onions, roasted fingerling potatoes, and grilled asparagus) were flavourful and also cooked to perfection.
Our wine selection of Shiraz complimented our meals.
Our evening ended with a complimentary cream brulee for two!
Dinner at the Chophouse is a little pricey, but well worth it if you want a special evening.
Really good food and service!
My wife and I make our annual anniversary visit to The Rosseau, and again Muskoka Chophouse was excellent in every way as it always is. Brendon and the staff make our meal a pleasure and always remember us. Wonderful meal !! Thanks again.
Food was very good and our waiter was amazing. Overall extremely enjoyable!
Brendan is phenomenal, attentive, and a joy to spend our evening with!
Once again a great meal. Our usual waiter again does everything right and more to make sure that our meal is great.
The best restaurant in all of muskoka! The most friendly and impeccable service every time I visit— and always the best meal!
Expensive but worth it.
I celebrated my birthday with my family at Muskoka Chophouse at JW Marriott
The staff is AMAZING !!! Thank you so much for such a wonderful dining experience our lovely staff Nisin Brandon and Gleemore they made our night extra special
The food is AMAZING!!!! Just the right amount of food serving
Desserts are wonderful Wine is explicit
Thank you 😊
Great food and service was great - but for the price of the meal I would have preferred to not have kids run in through the non exit door going around out table with bathing suit multiple times screaming. Really took away from our romantic getaway.
I found the food over priced. After our dinner we were not offered coffee or dessert and after asking for our cheque several times it finally arrived a half hour later.
We stayed overnight but, since the weather was bad (rain), the restaurant was quieter than expected. We had a great meal and wine. The memorable aspect was the thoughtful and efficient service.
Great service, so knowledgeable on wines. Good steak and huge sides. Just a bit non atmospheric.
Had a wonderful dinner with my Mom and we had delicious 8oz filets and spot prawns with yummy sides. The restaurant wasn’t busy so it was nice and quiet and our server was very attentive and professional.
Brendan was Fantastic as always
Food was good but average, wine good but overpriced
It’s a fiod place to celebrate special occasion. The staff are very nice our server is the best ever very nice guy Not really sure if hes name is Nathan...//thanks
The food was delish...Our server Madi was exceptional....very friendly and very helpful! Would love to always have her as our server....she made our night💕
Amazing service and ambiance.
Great food...great server...little bit over priced
Food is cooked to perfection great wine recommendation service great ambiance perfect
Steak was not good, when you pay $85 for a steak, it should be cooked as ordered. Quality was not there to warrant the high price.
Excellent service. Our waiter, Nivin, was fantastic!
Our food was delicious with great suggestions from the server, top of the line steak!
Other than the actual steak itself, the food was horrible. To be specific, canned crab for crab cakes should not be served with a Mexican salsa of corn niblets and black bean - that’s just not a real thing. The citrus on otherwise beautifully cooked broccolini completely ruined the flavour and overall taste. The carrot salad was all together embarrassing. Not even going to get into it. Okay maybe a little. Carrots were either under or over cooked. Presentation was poor. The dressing on the bottom was clumpy and distasteful for heirloom carrots. Heated up frozen bread doesn’t work because it becomes chewy when you bake it and bring it out.
Thank you for sharing your recent dining experience. It sounds as though your meal was not at the standard we aim to deliver, and for this I do apologize. I have shared your feedback directly with the Culinary team. In regards to your crab cake, only the freshest crab is used from Maryland and a remoulade sauce can always be crafted upon ordering if you should prefer a more traditional option. I do hope you will consider returning again soon so we may wow your taste buds. Kind regards, Lauren M.
Ceasar salad, oysters and porterhouse steak was great. And server we had at Chophouse was excellent!
Johnny, thank you for sharing you wonderful review. I am so glad you enjoyed your recent dining experience at Muskoka Chophouse thanks to the tantalizing sides, Certified Angus Beef and intuitive service. The oysters and porterhouse are always delicious for celebrating a special occasion or a nice evening out, especially when paired with an award winning wine. We look forward to your return! Kind regards, Lauren M.
Waiter Braden made good recommendations on choice of dishes. We mentioned to share salad and their chef pre-optioned it before presenting it to us. We really enjoyed the well-prepared, fresh and delicious meal.
over cooked steaks and under cooked fries. Extremely pricey to have these problems.
Presentation is the best I have seen. Porter house presentation second to none.... Unfortunately wasn't the best porterhouse my wife and have had. Perhaps not just a top notch cut. Cappuccinos were hot ... perfect and the lave cake desert with ground pistachio was to die for!! I am going back!!
Was good. Very high quality food but was no basic options like chichen for my wife
Fabulous service and fabulous food! We will definitely be back!
First of all - there was no one to seat us. I had to get a hotel employee to get someone to seat us. Should have left then.
Service was non-existant for us - our server was spending all his time on one couple. We had to ask to order drinks, then we had to ask to order, and ask for the bill. Dropped a lot of money here - just ridiculous.
We give our experience and 7 out of 10. The atmosphere was good, food tasted great! Sparkling water over-priced. Our server was amazing at the beginning but went downhill. We ordered a bottle of wine and he quickly left. There was of 6 of us. We also wanted other drinks. I believe he was the only server in the place that night.. He seemed rushed. Yet, he ended things with a surprise dessert for our friends birthday. Beginning was good, ending was good.. middle service not as much. Thank you
First time I went I didn't have high expectations for the steak but it was real good, went back this month and the porterhouse was average at best they claim top 3 % of all meat but I've been getting way better cuts at metro, and they overcooked it, fillet piece was well done when I ordered medium rare. Aps were decent, crab cakes and scallops both good. Our table also had a fillet, the bone in rib eye and the strip, fillet looked to be the best of the bunch, others were ok but not what I'd expect from a high end steak house.
