The food is a bit overpriced and the buffet doesn't have great selection. The staff were amazing though, catering to specific food restrictions. I would go again mostly because of the service
Food at the buffet was left out too long. Food was not great.
Food was bland, never been to a buffet with so little options to choose from. No servers offered water until 30 minutes later.
New Year’s Eve dinner - menu was wrong, food was cold and bland. Not. Huge selection. Very disappointed
Service was good but the food was horrible. You could tell that it had been sitting out for over an hour, it lacked flavour/taste. Chicken nuggets were hard and dry - our kids wouldn’t eat them. Fries were cold. Pork was dry. Veggies bland.
Great food again, really busy on Friday. Our server Jo (only on his second day at tables) did his best and we really appreciated him!
Breakfast buffet was awesome! O’Connor made great omelettes with great suggestions on trails & activities! 👊🏽

The festive dinner was good but basic. Found it lacked certain festive trimmings such as scallop potatoes or mashed, ham, etc...
Our first time to visit this place with the whole family, I can't explain, the ambiance of the whole surroundings of this hotel it's so calm even the noise of kids playing in the pool, still calmed for me

Waited an hour for dinner, no explanation until we complained. Then 4/5 meals arrived. They handled it well (comp’d) but the damage was done. Our special night on the patio was not to be.
New cast to start the season have a few kinks to work out but the food was amazing.
Our party felt that the food was sparse, we came at 10:30 for brunch. The fish was dry, and there wasn't a cut of meat like ham or other on the brunch (what you would expect for $30). An hour later some of the fruit was refreshed, which was better. Some of the dessert choices tasted stale as well. We all agreed that the quality was disappointing, especially for this caliber of resort.
Great food for our family March Break escape. We had breakfast and dinner at Cottages and enjoyed the great selection.
Went for buffet dinner. Cold, dry pasta. Not much selection. Awful service especially considering your serving yourself. $40 per person. Would have better service and value if I ordered a pizza.
Please serve better coffee. It's so weak and watery. I also overheard 2 other guests complaining about it. Otherwise everything was fine ... always wonderful service.
This was my first time going here for breakfast. The person who helped our table went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure we had a great time. Her name was Claire and she was great. I would go back here anytime if i had a waiter like Claire. Please tell her how much our table LOVED her. Thanks for making our day so much better after eating breakfast:)

The only option for dinner at Cottages was the buffet. Seemed fine from the menu description (Saffron chicken, leg of lamb, hand carved roast beef ) with a variety of salads, mixed vegetables and gnocchi in olive sauce. This is a Marriott resort so the $35 per person price was not surprising. Unfortunately the presentation and quality of the main course was absolutely unacceptable. The lukewarm white slabs of chicken were floating in water; hard as styrofoam and just as flavourful. The lamb slices, also floating in greasy water, were a grey unappetizing colour, dry, over cooked and completely inedible -tough as leather. At least the roast beef was fine; the kids menu had rock hard burnt chicken fingers which were also inedible. The dessert selection was uninspired - dried out apple tarts, plain white shortbread cookies and an atrocious pudding that was supposed to be dulce de leche but no one in our party of 5 was able to get past the flavour of the first terrible spoonful. We have been very happy with the other restaurants at the resort ( Teca, Lakes,Muskoka Chophouse) all a bit on the expensive side but excellent quality food and service. This buffet is a disaster and falls far short of the excellence we have come to expect and experience from Marriott restaurants. I have had tastier meals at a hospital cafeteria! We have had great food here at lunch so the dinner buffet was a most unpleasant surprise. The serving staff is excellent but whoever is responsible for the dinner buffet needs to step up the game and serve food that can tolerate being left in a buffet setting . Especially at $35 per person! The gnocchi was ok if you could tolerate the appearance of the dish -an unappealing mud -like mess. A flavourful sauce would have helped the chicken immensely and leg of lamb is definitely not the type of meat that can be left out at room temperature in a buffet chafing dish. I have never written a negative review before but Cottages buffet was truly terrible

We ate at Cottages during our March Break visit. The resort was very busy with families but the staff did a terrific job of providing excellent service in spite of the large numbers. The food was very good- our children found many options that they enjoyed. Lots of good options for the adults also.
Have been for several years and will return next year!

Overcooked roast beef, over cooked chicken, over cooked salmon ... decent shrimp and okay salad. Decent desserts. Overall, not great. You are better off at any of the other restaurants in the resort.
The service was okay. The food was terrible, the buffet food was lukewarm/cold. Not worth the amount you pay for the buffet. I would recommend eating at the bar outside of this restaurant instead of the all you can eat buffet here.
Buffet menu with a very limited food selection, though what was offered was mostly decent. The romaine for the salad was "rusted", the lamb was pretty dry, and the dessert selection was sad. The lone standout was the prime rib. Our table service was very good. The ambiance was not very good either. Very quiet and not busy at all. Not recommended.
I was a little concerned reading the negative reviews on TripAdvisor but we found our dining experience to be excellent. The hotel was extremely busy being between Christmas and New Year's but the food and service was great! Well done and extremely appreciated!!
We have been to cottages before- and we're looking forward to the breakfast buffet- which was sadly not available, although the website did not specify this.
We had a group of 8 girls there for dinner. There was no one else in the restaurant and the lights were on and there was no music. We thought they were closed! The ambiance was not great, but our server brought us a speaker so we could plug in music and was very accommodating. A couple of us had to ask for dressing for our salad, but other than that, the food was pretty good.
Food was reasonable, restaurant was freezing cold.
Cottages offers only a 35.00 buffet, not the posted menu. We were directed to the next door bar where we tried to order two specialty drinks from the menu and were told they didn't have the ingredients to make them. So we decided to order a simpler drink and then order dinner. Prime rib is listed on the very limited menu, but when we tried to order, we were told that it was available only on weekends.There were two very attentive albeit very casual and rather unorthodox (maybe untrained?) servers who juggled many patrons who somehow located a slice of prime rib (overcooked but edible with good mashed potatoes and ok asparagus) and tried to make things right, so that saved the evening from disaster, but beware the food services at this establishment leave much to be desired, and the menu on this app for Cottages is inaccurate.
The caliber and selection of food items (for dinner) was quite disappointing given the price. We had a far greater experience at the restaurant Teca with our young children- good food, good value, outstanding service.
Sadly, the poor reviews on service were accurate. It took over one hour to get our burgers. I had to go looking for staff to see if our order even made it to the kitchen...finally I requested the manager and in the end our meal was 50% off. The food was good but the experience was less than stellar.
We sat outside on the patio and while the view is great, the meal was pretty much ruined by the number of incredibly noisy seagulls. You would think the Marriott would find a way to deter the birds instead of allowing them to swoop in and grab food from vacated tables. We had the $35 buffet dinner, which was pretty good, although my husband found the roast beef quite tough. The servers were very polite and friendly. Next time, I would dine inside and order from the menu.
Food was so-so, many of the hot buffet items were cold. If they had been warm the food would have been much better.
We found the service really slow. There was an event that night that we had tickets to and despite arriving an hour before the show we ended up taking our dinner in a box after an hour had passed. The drinks arrived after the appetizer. Our server did apologize for the delay and stated that it was very busy all of a sudden but it was 7pm and the restaurant was 1/2 empty.
We ordered the veg lasagna but it really had no flavor. Overall the experience was a little disappointing.
Service, food and atmosphere were excellent. The portions are substantial and the presentation of the food is very appealing and artful. Staff are attentive and accommodating. We enjoyed our experience very much. Do check your bill for added gratuity though. We tipped our server only to discover halfway through our visit that a 15% gratuity had already been included. It was drawn to our attention by a more senior server and she assured us she would provide this information to the less experienced staff and expressed her regret. We remain delighted with the dining experience
