JW Marriott San Antonio - 18 Oaks Ratings and Reviews
We went for the Santa breakfast. The pancakes and waffles were soggy, and most of the food at the buffet was getting cold or rubbery. Santa was great, but would've been nice to have a background up- there was a flatscreen TV and golfing pics behind his head. Overall, really disappointing. I'm not quite sure how you mess up pancakes.
We were on vacation and went here for a date. We were pleased at the ambiance . Great service and food. Good wine choices by bottle but I would recommend more high end reds by the glass.
Not everyone wants a bottle. We were pleased that most were dressed in the dining area with nice attire. Please continue to request collared shirt for men during dinner.
Was a busy evening, I understand. But our food took 1 hour and 16 minutes to arrive AFTER we ordered. Two of the steaks were so underdone that they had to be sent back. Mine was still raw after sending it back at which point I gave up. Seriously overpriced and the "a la carte" means that anywhere else you get a salad and side included with a $50 steak, but here each is an additional $10 so the $50 steak is really $70! It wasn't the waiter's fault and manager tried to apologize for late and uncooked food with free dessert, but was too little too late. Very very very disappointing.
Nice evening, we had the bacon as a starter and was not disappointed. A few glasses of wine and before we knew it our main courses were the. We both ordered for the specials of the day, me the wild game and my wife from the sea. We were not disappointed. Overall, a good experience.
My wife and I had our “date night” at this restaurant and enjoyed everything about the dining. The waiter did a great job presenting the menu and explaining it to us as it was our first time dining here. The waiters/waitresses all greeted us as we walked in. Felt very welcoming and not over the top or forced. The food was excellent.
Our reservation was for 7:30, we got there at 7:24. Was told we had to wait until 7:30 to be seated. At 7:30 I walked back up to the counter and still had to wait to be seated. Once seated the wait staff was friendly and great. We didn't get our food until 8:25. The steaks were prepared just the way we liked them, the carrots and green beans were outstanding and I don't even like green beans. Overall experience was good. A little pricey but food was good.
Everything about this place was fantastic. From the fresh bread to the juicy rib-eye, it was all delicious. I would also recommend trying their truffle cream corn. My wife and I are a huge fan of this place. The service was also excellent. Our waiter was super nice and always very attentive to us.
We stayed at the JW Marriott and ate at 18 Oaks twice; once inside and once on the porch. It was great - fabulous bar and food. Service staff from the desk to our table servers were all excellent. We ate filet and bone-in strip steak, pork and lobster; all were top notch. We'd dine there again if we lived in the area.
We went for lunch on Labor Day to reward ourselves for a weekend of hard labor! It was very quiet because people were mostly checking out. The atmosphere is very nice and the service was excellent. My husband had the club sandwich and it was very good. I had the crab sliders which are a good choice for something different! And the fries were excellent!
Went for Sunday brunch. The Prime Rib & Turkey at the carving station were very good. The cold seafood appetizers were not that great, and had fishy odor, King Crab was very watery. The other dishes were not kept very hot, and most of the side dishes were almost cold. The service was very good, but they need to improve the quality of the food
Local ingredients skillfully prepared
The Windy Bar ranch Tbone. From local producer in Stonewall was perfectly cooked medium rare and very tender. Truffled cream corn was equally well executed and not over truffled.
The chop salad was huge and had an excellent ranch/blue cheese dressing. The salad was a meal in itself
Before dinner rolls were great and the deserts shined as was expected. Heirloom tomatoes and house made ricotta was also a hit and the filet was prepared perfectly
The wine list was adequate and the bar had the Best assortment of Texas made spirits I've seen hands down. In short, very well executed local food, polished wait staff, and a stacked spirits list with good ambiance. We Will be back again for dinner.
Waygu steak entrees are exceptionally tender and tasty. However, there is a price tag that comes with these special offerings. The atmosphere is your typical county club venue. The high ceilings seemed to cause noise levels to carry and there was a particularly loud group present while we were eating. Although we were satisfyingly full after eating, we could not pass up the dessert menu which had several options worth eating on for. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and time there.
Steaks are legit. I had a ribeye cap (first time for me) and it melted in my mouth. Bread service is amazing with house made pickles and jerky. Service was outstanding without being stuffy. Mark was our server and he was outstanding. Will be back next time I am on property.
The food was overall good to ok- short ribs and ricotta salad were great, the steak was ok, dessert was blah. However, the service was terrible. It seemed like the restaurant was understaffed. Our waiter had a large party in a private room in addition to a few smaller tables (including ours) in the main restaurant. We spent 20 minutes trying to flag someone down to order our meal. Our waiter apologized every time he came to our table- poor guy was trying his best. Thank goodness we ordered a bottle of wine early to keep us going! Overall underwhelmed.
