Don’t go when they are full!
These guys have a good menu and a great location. Unfortunately they seem to have a kitchen that’s not equipped to keep up with the orders when they are full. Multiple times now I have gone for brunch before a Seahawks game (they are just blocks from the stadium and right at the Pioneer Square link stop). In both cases it was a 40 minute wait from ordering to food arriving. Hopefully they can build kitchen capacity that meets their demand. If the did that I would be giving a much warmer review.
I was meeting a business contact for the first time to have lunch. On arrival and check in, I was informed Juno did not have a reservation for me. I showed the Open Table confirmation message I'd received and got an apathetic "sorry" in response. I decided to wait for my companion's arrival in the reception area. The restaurant was not full and I didn't see anyone who might resemble who I might be meeting. I had my contact's email, but not her cell number so unable to call or text. Just thought she was running late until I realized through some email exchanges that she'd already been seated. She'd arrived earlier and checked in for my reservation (which the hostess said they didn't have, and didn't bother to further investigate). My companion came to the front to get me and our lunch meeting started 30 minutes late. The server gave another unconvincing apology and lunch got underway. Food and service were ok for the rest of the meal. I'd have expected an offer to comp one of our meals or a free dessert--anything to offset the poor experience at the beginning of the meal.
Overall attribute this "poor" rating to their inability to use the Open Table system effectively, and lack of care and follow through in helping my companion and I connect. At other restaurants using Open Table, there never seems to be a problem seating people who arrive separately for the same reservation...why can't Juno figure this out?
IMO, Juno does a better job at happy hour than lunch. The first time I had lunch there was with a large group. The waiter spilled sweet chili sauce all over my pants and brought me a grubby bar rag to wipe up with. This time (party of 3) was thankfully not as eventful, but we were seated without menus and without enough place settings. The waiter noticed, but did nothing about it until I asked for a place setting when the food arrived (which seemed to take a long time both times). Juno is one of the nicer places close to my office, but there's nothing exceptional to say about the food or service.
We had a party of 7 for a birthday lunch for a coworker. Terrible service. Gave up on ordering dessert even tho they knew it was a birthday. Dirty floor. Food inconsistent at our table. Steak salad is awful. Server seemed disinterested and distracted. We have had good breakfast meetings there however.
For a slow Friday lunch, the service was not great. I selected the "Nicoise" which was in the salad section of the menu, however it was not a salad, not a piece of lettuce on the plate. The tuna should have been seared Ahi, thinly sliced. Instead it looked like a steak - brown on the outside and cut into large, thick slices. It was overcooked and not very tasteful. There were about 100 Kalamata olives on the plate, the green beans were Tempura (weird...) and there was a pool of a heavy, orang-ish tasting dressing in the middle of the plate. The meals of my two dining companions looked better and they said tasted "OK". I do not plan to return to Juno anytime soon.
Overall, the food was good, and once we had ordered, it came out within 5-8 minutes. However, I had a reservation at 930, and we were not even acknowledged waiting at the door until 940. It didn't look like they were short staffed because the lady who sat us were talking to her coworkers the entire time. After sitting for 15 more minutes with no water or menus and right as we were about to leave, our server came over. He was a nice man, but with the 25 min wait until we could even order from our reservation time, we won't be back.
Our group of three has been to Juno several times, and the last two times we were very disappointed in the service. The first time, there apparently was a mix-up with our order being given to the chef, so we waited an hour for our meals. We know these things can happen and gave the waitperson the benefit of the doubt. The second time, a different waitperson took our order, and the food came in a timely manner, which was great. However, she did not come back at any time during the meal to check with us, refill drinks or ask if we wanted dessert. The only enthusiasm she had regarding our service was in bringing our bill at the end of the meal and checking back for our payment a couple of times. We really like Juno for the atmosphere and food. Given the moderately high prices and location in the hotel, we would expect better service in this restaurant, especially if it wants to stay competitive. May we suggest more training with the waitstaff or more attentive management to the service being provided.
I had the lemongrass fried chicken, and it was the best fried chicken I have ever tasted. Our server was attentive but not overbearing, and it was quiet enough that we were able to have a lively conversation with our friends without shouting to be heard. We will definitely go back.
We went to Juno before a concert at Century Link Stadium. We were seated quickly and the service was excellent. Drinks and food were both very good. My Ribeye steak was excellent, although the potatoes that accompanied the steak were overcooked. Others in our party were pleased with their meals. Overall, I would recommend Juno for anyone looking for a restaurant down in that area of downtown Seattle or close to Pioneer Square.
I was quite dismayed. I chose due to "proximity" to 5th Avenue...not close...favorable reservation time and menu.
Venue was shabby, food was not great. Server was doing double duty as room service delivery to Double Tree.
Unfortunately, I will not be back or recommend to others.
I do not write negative reviews as a rule, but this experience really started my evening on a sour note.
Juno's is a great spot for a business lunch!
Food is excellent. Menu offers seasonal options as well as dependable favorites. In an historic refurbished building, so nice ambience. The fireplace adds a nice homey touch and provides a sound barrier. Service is efficient and friendly.
Across the street from the Pioneer Square light rail station.
Had lunch at Juno with a coworker. I really like the location. There are a good variety of foods on the menu at a really good value. I recommend this place to come if you only have an hour to spare but you don't want the everyday lunch scene such as a food court. The service was fast and friendly, the ambience is quiet.
My wife and I went to Juno for Valentine's Day.
The entrees are well portioned and are seasoned perfectly and extremely well.
However, we were overcharged AFTER THE FACT on our credit card, so we will never return, and strongly advise anyone who goes there to verify your bill with your credit card statement.
