I loved the hospitality and customer service that Juniper gives out. This was our second time having dinner here, and what better way than to spend your Anniversary at this wonderful restaurant.
Went here for Valentines Brunch. The staff was amazing. Patrice gave me great background into the Restaurant and the hotel. She was very nice, professional and courteous. Brunch was amazing. Food selection was healthy and appetizing. Can’t wait until it warms up and we can eat outside on the patio. My husband and I will be back.
I was recommended this restaurant as it was advertised as a high end restaurant; I scheduled a Valentines Day dinner there thinking it was going to be a high class affair; however, that was not the case. The menu which we looked at on the website was changed unbeknownst to us; and the food had limited choices. The portions were disappointing, to say the least. However, the service was phenomenal.
Made a reservation in which this restaurant requested a credit card number up front in order to reserve with a $30 charge for no show/cancellation. We arrived 30 minutes early just to make sure there was no issue and not only did we have to wait for for over 30 minutes past our actual reservation time to be seated, but the host sat us in an awkward "additional/overflow" seating in the hallway of the entrance to the restaurant. The pre fixed menu was a bit lack luster for $60pp and although we decided not to stay due to poor service, the food received by others sitting next to us appeared very generic and like it came from the counter at Safeway. I should have been able to charge this restaurant a $30 fee for making me wait to be seated and for horrible service as oppose to them asking for my credit card in order to make a reservation. I refuse to pay for horrible service and so we got up and left.
Though the food was ok and our waiter did his best to attend to our table, it was clear that the restaurant was under-staffed and really struggling. The food also wasn't anything that kept me wanting for more, but that wasn't the biggest disappointment about the restaurant -- the service was very bad. Coupled with the price, it was very disappointing. When spending $60 per person on a Valentine's Day pre fixe meal, I expect a lot more out of the service. Half-way through our first course, we realized that our waiter forgot to bring us any bread so we asked for some. We waited about 30 minutes with empty glasses of wine (after asking our waiter for some more wine, but not receiving any). We noticed multiple people walked out and did not eat at all. The restaurant was clearly struggling so we did not complain to anyone there, but if it weren't for our own company, that would have been a horrendous experience.
Went for a special Valentine’s Day dinner and the food was tasty. However the service was slow and the space was cold.
It was a pre-fixe menu so I’m not sure why there was such a delay. We literally had to flag staff walking by for assistance. The table next to us waited almost 50 mins between starter and entree until I said something to the staff.
They seated us in the outside of the restaurant in the transition area from lobby to restaurant. The area is surrounded by glass and leads to outside. First off, since I made reservations at a upscale place this is not where I expect to be seated. Second, no heaters really!?!
Overall I’m sure this place is delightful. Just not on Valentine’s Night.
It was a very beautiful place. Everyone was extremely nice and the service was spectacular. Mrs. Hanh took really good care of us and I will be going back because of her
Consistently great service and food. Quiet and welcoming.
We had dinner for the first time at Juniper. It was very good. My husband and I orders the 1/2 chicken and it was so good and juicy. The Brussel sprouts and mushrooms were fantastic. The servers were excellent. All in all a very enjoyable evening
The waiters were very friendly! Quick service and great food!!
Located inside the Fairmont Hotel, Juniper Restaurant receives 5 stars overall for food, service, ambiance, and value.
Dined for 2 at 6 pm. We were the first diners of the evening so we chose a window table. Serving staff followed right after and offered bottled, sparking, or still water.
Malbec, Luigi Bosca, Mendoza, 2016 $15 - Not too sweet, not too dry.
Brussels Sprouts With Lardons $9 - If you're a fan of brussels sprouts, Juniper has the best brussels sprouts I have ever ordered/consumed! Small sized sprouts which IMO have a perfect ratio of flavor (inside was also flavored). Lots of crispy leaves!!!
Maryland Crab Cakes Espelette remoulade $17 - approximately 3 oz of two crab cakes. Espelette remoulade was the perfect "tarter sauce".
Scallops Sweet corn, pancetta, green tomato $29 - the largest thickest scallops I have ever seen with cut steamed corn on the cob. Kudos: the scallops were NOT salty (every time I order scallops they're too salty). Perfectly cooked crust.
Snickers Parfait $12 - layers of mousse, chocolate mousse, whipped cream, crushed oreos topped with peanut brittle. The peanut brittle was my favorite part of this dessert lol.
+ friendly and excellent serving staff and server (water refilled 3 x during dinner)
+ cushioned bench, hard chairs,
+ provided new cloth napkins for dessert
My food was cold and tasteless. The foie gras was like cat food. They ran out of food at 7pm. The restaurant was half full, yet the service was chaotic. We'll never eat there again.
The dessert station had amazing variety and quality. The hot food and cold section was hit or miss; sweet potato hash, hit; Oysters, serious miss. The drinks were over-priced, food was of expected value.
We have been going to Juniper for Christmas Day lunch for the last three years, and have always been happy, but this year was not as good. They had added additional tables in the same space. Had reduced the hot food selection and there was NO fish, except for shellfish.
Second time we visit Juniper in 2 months. We accidentally bought Travelzoo voucher twice so we went back here for the 2nd time. Although the voucher expired for a month already, the manager was kind enough to honor the original promotion. First time we had the filet and sea bass. This time we had the lamb cheek and scallop. The food was excellent and service was fantastic. We highly recommend this restaurant.
This is the restaurant attached to a hotel lobby. It is a good restaurant. We booked the place for a dinner before a movie at the nearby cinema. The food was quite good. The inside atmosphere and decor is quite nice. We liked the place.
Wonderful experience. Every item we ordered was delicious. Loved the chicken and the snickers parfait dessert!
Good service, buffet is small but entree is a great value!
First time there for brunch. Bad experience. Food was good, service was awful. Neither of our two servers were very good and neither were strong English speakers. They were slow, made mistakes and even spilled a drink on me. The manager felt bad and comp'd our brunch. I expected much better from a high end hotel. I will not be back.
The take extra special care of the group for my wife’s birthday and made the brunch fantastic
Excellent in all respects - food, ambience, understated excellent service
Great food and location
Awesome food including the best crab cakes in town. Perfectly cooked Chilean sea bass. The service was exquisite. Thank you for a great and memorable evening.
After visiting Ford's Theater to see "Fences", my wife and I had dinner at the Juniper Restaurant. Fine dining at its best. The dinner and service were Excellent. Definitely an enjoyable evening out.
While the food is very good and service is excellent, I consider the prices very high for a restaurant that is dressed up like a glorified cafeteria. Entrees are a-la-carte and most are in the $30-$35 range. A simple beverage such as iced tea is $6. Desserts are $10 and up. Pricing is comparable to the Blue Duck Tavern across the street in the Park Hyatt, but the atmosphere there is 4-5-star and with a much broader selection on the menu. You can do much better for the money!
This food was really uninspired. I had one of the worst salads I have ever had. It looked like the meat on it was throw away. Maybe the best of the 4 entres was the steak with fries. We will not go there again and I cannot recommend it. However, our waiter was very nice and attentive.
The staff is THE BEST!! Welcoming, attentive but not intrusive. Knowledgable about the menu and food sources. The food does not reach the heights of five or six years ago when Ian was the chef. No longer as imaginative or tasty nor is the presentation as pretty, but its OK. The ambience and quiet makes it a refuge in the city.
Waitress was not welcoming.
My experience was incredible! The hostess (she was so incredible and warm). It felt she loved being there and was happy to see me. Sherman and Alex blew me away. I am an extreme foodie and I can truly say I have not had Service on the level before! I am so happy and I'll be back!
Service is impeccable
Staff was great. Food was good. They had a large group come in so our desert was delayed but they gave us free drinks due to the inconvenience. Would definitely recommend
Very beautiful surroundings and good service!
Wonderful overall experience.
They weren’t ready on time and there seemed to be one waiter running everything. It took a long time to get anything including a cup of coffee but everyone was very nice. The buffet was tasty but the eggs Benedict was way too salty and sour. Probably won’t go back.
We were on vacation during my wife’s birthday and found Jupiter Restaurant. It was near our hotel and sounded good for a birthday dinner. The wine and drink list was great. My older daughter joined us for the Bone in Sirloin for the table and loved it and they had a children’s menu that they were able to accommodate my younger daughter. And when told about the birthday they brought out an extra dessert. We shared sides and they were delicious. It was a great find.
The food was deliciously prepared. Best Maryland crab cakes (appetizer), English pea soup and tenderloin of beef. Impeccable service.
Very busy. Slow service. Wait staff was polite. Would come again.
very unorganized. Took over an hour to get our entree. Buffet table was not set up when restaurant opened. waiter was lackadaisical at best. Food was decent not great. Used a travel zoo coupon so value was fine but without the coupon it would have been way over priced for the product received
I had the grilled shrimp salad and then the salmon as an entree, both were perfectly prepared. The service did not miss a beat from the time we were seated to when we departed the restaurant!
