The waiters were very friendly! Quick service and great food!!
Located inside the Fairmont Hotel, Juniper Restaurant receives 5 stars overall for food, service, ambiance, and value.
Dined for 2 at 6 pm. We were the first diners of the evening so we chose a window table. Serving staff followed right after and offered bottled, sparking, or still water.
Malbec, Luigi Bosca, Mendoza, 2016 $15 - Not too sweet, not too dry.
Brussels Sprouts With Lardons $9 - If you're a fan of brussels sprouts, Juniper has the best brussels sprouts I have ever ordered/consumed! Small sized sprouts which IMO have a perfect ratio of flavor (inside was also flavored). Lots of crispy leaves!!!
Maryland Crab Cakes Espelette remoulade $17 - approximately 3 oz of two crab cakes. Espelette remoulade was the perfect "tarter sauce".
Scallops Sweet corn, pancetta, green tomato $29 - the largest thickest scallops I have ever seen with cut steamed corn on the cob. Kudos: the scallops were NOT salty (every time I order scallops they're too salty). Perfectly cooked crust.
Snickers Parfait $12 - layers of mousse, chocolate mousse, whipped cream, crushed oreos topped with peanut brittle. The peanut brittle was my favorite part of this dessert lol.
+ friendly and excellent serving staff and server (water refilled 3 x during dinner)
+ cushioned bench, hard chairs,
+ provided new cloth napkins for dessert
My food was cold and tasteless. The foie gras was like cat food. They ran out of food at 7pm. The restaurant was half full, yet the service was chaotic. We'll never eat there again.
The dessert station had amazing variety and quality. The hot food and cold section was hit or miss; sweet potato hash, hit; Oysters, serious miss. The drinks were over-priced, food was of expected value.
We have been going to Juniper for Christmas Day lunch for the last three years, and have always been happy, but this year was not as good. They had added additional tables in the same space. Had reduced the hot food selection and there was NO fish, except for shellfish.
Second time we visit Juniper in 2 months. We accidentally bought Travelzoo voucher twice so we went back here for the 2nd time. Although the voucher expired for a month already, the manager was kind enough to honor the original promotion. First time we had the filet and sea bass. This time we had the lamb cheek and scallop. The food was excellent and service was fantastic. We highly recommend this restaurant.
This is the restaurant attached to a hotel lobby. It is a good restaurant. We booked the place for a dinner before a movie at the nearby cinema. The food was quite good. The inside atmosphere and decor is quite nice. We liked the place.
Wonderful experience. Every item we ordered was delicious. Loved the chicken and the snickers parfait dessert!
Good service, buffet is small but entree is a great value!
First time there for brunch. Bad experience. Food was good, service was awful. Neither of our two servers were very good and neither were strong English speakers. They were slow, made mistakes and even spilled a drink on me. The manager felt bad and comp'd our brunch. I expected much better from a high end hotel. I will not be back.
The take extra special care of the group for my wife’s birthday and made the brunch fantastic
Excellent in all respects - food, ambience, understated excellent service
Great food and location
Awesome food including the best crab cakes in town. Perfectly cooked Chilean sea bass. The service was exquisite. Thank you for a great and memorable evening.
After visiting Ford's Theater to see "Fences", my wife and I had dinner at the Juniper Restaurant. Fine dining at its best. The dinner and service were Excellent. Definitely an enjoyable evening out.
While the food is very good and service is excellent, I consider the prices very high for a restaurant that is dressed up like a glorified cafeteria. Entrees are a-la-carte and most are in the $30-$35 range. A simple beverage such as iced tea is $6. Desserts are $10 and up. Pricing is comparable to the Blue Duck Tavern across the street in the Park Hyatt, but the atmosphere there is 4-5-star and with a much broader selection on the menu. You can do much better for the money!
This food was really uninspired. I had one of the worst salads I have ever had. It looked like the meat on it was throw away. Maybe the best of the 4 entres was the steak with fries. We will not go there again and I cannot recommend it. However, our waiter was very nice and attentive.
The staff is THE BEST!! Welcoming, attentive but not intrusive. Knowledgable about the menu and food sources. The food does not reach the heights of five or six years ago when Ian was the chef. No longer as imaginative or tasty nor is the presentation as pretty, but its OK. The ambience and quiet makes it a refuge in the city.
Waitress was not welcoming.
My experience was incredible! The hostess (she was so incredible and warm). It felt she loved being there and was happy to see me. Sherman and Alex blew me away. I am an extreme foodie and I can truly say I have not had Service on the level before! I am so happy and I'll be back!
Service is impeccable
Staff was great. Food was good. They had a large group come in so our desert was delayed but they gave us free drinks due to the inconvenience. Would definitely recommend
Very beautiful surroundings and good service!
Wonderful overall experience.
They weren’t ready on time and there seemed to be one waiter running everything. It took a long time to get anything including a cup of coffee but everyone was very nice. The buffet was tasty but the eggs Benedict was way too salty and sour. Probably won’t go back.
We were on vacation during my wife’s birthday and found Jupiter Restaurant. It was near our hotel and sounded good for a birthday dinner. The wine and drink list was great. My older daughter joined us for the Bone in Sirloin for the table and loved it and they had a children’s menu that they were able to accommodate my younger daughter. And when told about the birthday they brought out an extra dessert. We shared sides and they were delicious. It was a great find.
The food was deliciously prepared. Best Maryland crab cakes (appetizer), English pea soup and tenderloin of beef. Impeccable service.
Very busy. Slow service. Wait staff was polite. Would come again.
very unorganized. Took over an hour to get our entree. Buffet table was not set up when restaurant opened. waiter was lackadaisical at best. Food was decent not great. Used a travel zoo coupon so value was fine but without the coupon it would have been way over priced for the product received
I had the grilled shrimp salad and then the salmon as an entree, both were perfectly prepared. The service did not miss a beat from the time we were seated to when we departed the restaurant!
The staff was fantastic and the food was very good. The only downside was that there were a lot of flies around/on the buffet food, which is pretty gross. I know it was hot but there’s got to be something that can be done.
The only minor issue is the hostess. She was not friendly. No laugh even we try to be as friendly as we can.
The next morning the same issue. Hope she will change.
Further only compliments for the rest of the Staff.
Excellent food and attentive service. This is a pretty place and it was nice eating in a restaurant where you could hear yourself.
Great food and service.
Little disappointing. Service was slow and food was just ok for breakfast. Probably won’t return. Hope that the dinner menu is better.
Simple elegance in a very comfortable setting.
Patio courtyard relaxing yet chic.
Prefer this atmosphere over 4 seasons anytime
Food upscale yet approachable, delicious and satisfying,
Staff very pleasant and accommodating.
MAde our stay at Fairmont hotel a complete pleasure.
We went for Juniper's Father's Day BBQ and Brew buffet brunch today. The whole family was disappointed. When we arrived (with an hour still left for the buffet) the whole roasted pig was completely gutted (the little scraps they managed to cut off were just sad) and they were out of the grilled shrimp. No effort was made to replenish the buffet; we were just told they were out. Thus, even though advertised as choice of entree, your choice consisted of sausages or burgers -- and even these were mediocre at best; you weren't offered a choice of the regular menu items. Definitely not as advertised. And there was no "brew" offered or even mentioned on the menu -- despite it being advertised. And the cook to order eggs were non-existent, or if they existed, were never offered. And to top it off, the service was slow and poor. We had such high hopes for a nice Sunday brunch -- Juniper definitely did not deliver.
We had a reservation at the restaurant. When we arrived, we were seated immediately by a very friendly host. Unfortunately, the service went downhill after that. When I booked the reservation, there was no indication that there was a pre fixe buffet menu for the holiday. There was also no indication when we were seated that there was a pre-fixe buffet menu. We had been seated for half an hour before we could get anyone to come over to us. It was another 20 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order (only after we had to hunt someone down. Even then - it was a hostess who came to take our drink orders). We had been there an hour before anyone on the wait staff came to ask if we had been served. When it was time to get the check, I had to go searching for someone who could get the check. It still took another 30 minutes for us to actually get the check.
The restaurant took a small discount off our check for the experience, which was generous of them, but it was extremely disappointing that even after the staff knew we had not had a good experience with the service....it continued to be bad.
The food is excellent. The atmosphere needs a definite update. And despite not being busy, the service was incredibly slow.
Super pricey $$$$$$$$ but delicious food. If you love rich cheese selections, seafood, and desserts, this is the brunch for you. Prepare to pay $125 pp.
