Juniper Ratings and Reviews
The food and service were excellent. We ordered from the brunch menu. Salmon Benedict
and Chicken with a biscuit. The food was tasty and the plating perfect. Mimosa was light and
refreshing and the coffee was robust in flavor. We dined upstairs. The lighting was soft and
we had a nice table for two. Highly recommend this restaurant.
I felt the meal was lacking overall. The Salmon over noodles was pretty salty, hardly had any vegetables and spendy to boot. The pasta with bolognese was lackluster.
The server didn't offer the dessert menu with a kid at the table, so I didn't ask. I also felt very rushed, the server dropped my check off while we were still eating and rarely acknowledged my date. I wasn't asked if I wanted another beverage but wouldn't have had one as the Moscow Mule was too sweet. It was my first time at Juniper so maybe it's more casual than I thought.
It's a nice enough place but wasn't the best experience and an odd service experience.
My Mom and her partner have recently purchased a condo in Boise and we wanted to show them some of our favorite spots. They loved Juniper - the drinks and food were very, very good. Although a member of our party didn't like her cocktail, the waiter quickly removed the drink and helped her figure out what drink she would like as a replacement. Very nice! The portions were perfect and the ambiance was nice. It was pretty noisy - I wouldn't necessarily go to this restaurant for a quiet dinner, but for a party of 4, it's perfect.
It was a great dinner there were five of us and everyone enjoyed their food and the creative gin and tonics! I had the duck Ramen on recommendation from someone who had dined there previously. It was fabulous and I would come back to have it again.
We had a positive experience except for the person at the front who seated us. Reservation was for 4 people and at the last minute another person joined our group. As the 5 of us were huddled around the front desk – he made a rude comment regarding the reservation being for 4. It made all of us very uncomfortable and embarrassed for the person who joined us last minute. Then he let us know that he didn’t think he would be able to seat us with that many. As it turned out he did seat us upstairs and there were at least four other tables large enough for five which remained empty during our entire meal.
I'm done with this place. Used to be the service, now it's the chef and the food. Service was the only positive part... you know what the biggest shame is? How great the atmosphere is and what this place COULD BE. I almost enjoy the food here better than any other place in town. Almost...
Where do I begin?
Well, I'm regularly in this place getting what might be my favorite salad in town, the Brussel Sprout Salad - one that I can say I've probably had at least 5 to 10 times before. In fact, just two nights ago I was in here with my father - someone I recommended this place to, never again - and I had it. I got it tonight. When it was brought to me and my friend (he had it as well), we had to ask the waiter if they made a mistake because this was a kale salad with shaved Brussels on top. He came back from the kitchen and told us the Chef said "this is how he's always made it" - this was the moment I lost it. Don't lie to me. I'm not your GF sitting at home wondering where you are at midnight- I'm someone who eats here regularly
And knows EXACTLY what comes out of this kitchen.
Have you ever heard the adage if it ain't broke, don't fix it? Well, the red beans and rice were probably the best dish in town. Also, Before they REMOVED it from the menu - they made it something entirely different than red beans and rice - they got rid of the rice... wait, what?
Don't come here. Waiter just said, "dare you to go talk to the chef" he then said he was joking but not before I said I dare him to come talk to me...
Then he charged me for my one drink... still tipped 50%. Bye Felicia
Incredible food, amazing service. Everyone working there is very friendly and I've never had anything there that I wasn't completely satisfied with.
Only complaint is some loud customers nearby, but that isn't the fault of juniper.
Would highly recommend and will be returning.
Went for dinner. Both Beef Tenderloin entrees were served barely room temperature (as if the plates sat on the wait line a bit before serving). Both shrimp specials of the evening also could have been warmer in temperature (shrimp were just placed on top of a rice mixture as if they may have been cooked too far ahead of serving). Our server, Claire, was very pleasant and attentive.
They have a space for every occasion as long as you plan ahead of time; made a reservation in advance for a larger group with no issues. Always happier when I come in for brunch over the dinner menu, just food selection/price preference, and could have done for the music to be less loud hard to talk across a big group. I love this location in the warm months because you can sit outside or for a date night because most of the table settings are small indoors. Food is always super tasty, there is a large price range on the menu so something for everyone, reasonable portions.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Our plane was delayed so missed our original reservations. Just by chance we stopped by to let them know why we missed our reservations and since we had not eaten yet, they kindly made room and seated us anyway. The food is absolutely amazing! Try the brussels sprout salad and their specials. We would highly recommend Juniper and look forward to coming back when in Boise.
We had reservations for 8pm on a Saturday night. We soon came to find out this is NOT a Saturday night date place. Very loud, poorly designed sprawling layout on main floor and minimal ambiance. We were seated in between two tables full of children. One table was even playing cards. We walked out as soon as we were seated.
Went for birthday celebration. Had a great halibut dish that was one of the specials and it was fantastic. The house salad with house vinaigrette was delish, too. We were upstairs. Loud! But we could hear each other. Really enjoyed the meal and staff was super friendly and helpful. A different and fun menu. Will go again.
