We came here for dinner on mother’s day and our meal was very good. There was a little confusion about our reservation, which wasn’t a pleasant way to start our first-time dining experience at Juniper, but after that was resolved, it was a lovely evening. Food was tasty and our waitress was very friendly and did an excellent job making sure drinks were refilled and that we were enjoying our meals.
It was our first time to dine at Juniper, and we will return. The seating arrangement was ok, but not conducive to a quiet/intimate experience. Our server did a great job accommodating us, but the atmosphere is more communal. We will return to try the Gin Flight and the ramen and the fries. The menu is diverse and interesting. We ordered the Cut and the Catch and were very pleased with the quality.
We enjoyed the food and we really like the way Juniper toasts the toast. Great preserves, and the coffee was hot.
Really great service and fun drinks. Not too busy, made a reservation just to be safe. Food is unique and delicious.
Went for a team lunch. Food and atmosphere was great!
I have given them 3 trys. I want to like Juniper. But the food is too inconsistent. On 5/5/19 brunch.... $16 for a steak beni and both eggs were poached to the point of hard boiled, and very little hollandaise which could have maybe covered up the fact the egg was hard boiled. It turned out being a very dry breakfast!! I am going to stick to places that cook consistently good like st Lawrence and bitter creek.
Honestly the food is not worth all the hype. Had a wimpy lamb burger. Solid prices.
I love how unique and creative their food and drink menu is. And everything is absolutely delicious!
Pleasantly surprised. Would definitely recommend and return , especially for date night.
Great food and service. However, it was very noisy. Despite the noise I would definitely go back again.
Enjoy the food and happy hour specials.
Food was decent, with interesting combinations of flavors and textures. Service was friendly, but quite slow, and main courses were not as warm as they should have been. The main upstairs seating area was very loud, making conversation between the two of us in a small booth difficult. Price point, however was very comfortable.
Great place. Food. And service. Always consistent.
Everything was great EXCEPT it was so loud we could not even hear each other talk with out screaming at each other. MUST do something about the sound in there!
Have looked at Juniper several times when visiting Boise. It was a delight to finally dine there. I will definitely go again!
Great meal and great service. Our server offered suggestions that were right on. She was friendly and engaging
The table service was not great. We all commented on it at the time. After the initial seating when she took our drink order it was about 15 minutes when she came back to let us know they were still working on the two drinks. It was busy. Desert was not offered and we waited a while to get her attention to get the check. Normally the service is great. That said dinner was great.
Good food and cocktails. We went with several small plates and enjoyed them all. The Brussels sprouts were nice and spicy though I wished they had been crispy. The lamb meatballs were very tasty. Chili fries were good, just needed another minute under the salamander to fully melt the cheese. Excellent service!!
We hadn’t been for a while because it’s so noisy but we had to eat early to make a performance. The food was even better than we remembered. Chopped salad was plenty for two to share composed of arugula, radish, pumpkin seeds, figs in balsamic glaze. Brussels spouts were fantastic - spicy, creamy dressing on caramelized spouts. The catch was halibut in tandoori sauce with pickled ginger and quinoa - one of the best dishes we’ve had in a long time. The cut - lamb chops were ok. Service was good, knowledgeable and their drink menu is creative. We’ll go back more often but again, at off times.
Love this place! We went for my husnband’s 50th Birthday dinner and the food was awesome and the service was even better!
Great place for happy hour or dinner. Very close to a to of things to do downtown.
Always a fun variety here. Good food doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Any place that will top my med temp beef burger with a fried egg is my friend. My date was boring but the food was great.
Food and service was good as usual - we'll be back for sure!
So happy they brought back the pancakes. Something they add to the batter that makes them amazing.
Food pairings were outstanding! Cocktails were amazing and Jeff was an awesome waiter!
Food and service were outstanding. A little noisy and the seating was a little tight but overall I would highly recommend the food
Great evening but the drinks took about 20 minutes to get after ordering. I ordered a sparkling wine and it just took much longer than I would have expected.
A very enjoyable meal and a great wine list. Good value here too!
Had an excellent brunch. Very happy they brought back the pancakes and steak Benedict. Highly recommend.
Very loud (don’t sit upstairs). Staff seemed overwhelmed with volume. Food was pretty good.
Ambiance: too noisy to talk at table
Service VERY VERY slow.
We have dined at Juniper several times and really enjoyed it in the past. We were looking forward to introducing our extended family to the place with dinner before a comedy show. Knowing it might be a busy night in downtown Boise, we arrived 2 hours before we needed to be down the street for our event. I had requested a table in the quietest spot in the restaurant since one of our party was a bit hard of hearing. It was extremely loud at our upstairs table, we gave up try to talk as a group. The server was really nice and apologized for having to shout at us. We ordered cocktails (which were excellent) and our dinners shortly after. Our food took over an hour to arrive. We told the server we might have to cancel dinner orders - she checked with the kitchen and said it would be 20 more minutes. Once our food finally arrived, we had to eat within 10 minutes to make our engagement. The meals were decent but not as good as on previous visits. It was really disappointing. The table next to us requested talking with the manager, they too had been sitting in the restaurant for over an hour and had several hungry young kids with them. Two people in their party had to leave without eating. The manager told them all the reservations arrived at the same time - well that is up to the restaurant to manage more properly.
Despite this, I will go back to Juniper for cocktails at least. I may try dinner again but not on a busy weekend and not until the disappointment from this weekend wears off.
Food was great.
The new shrimp n grits is fabulous! Not a typical heavy southern version but fabulous in its own right!
We chose Juniper for Sunday brunch for our out-of-town guests-perfect choice!
I love juniper; it’s one a my favorite places to go. However, they had just switched menus and software programs that day according to the waitress and it was a bit of a mess. I had eaten the same thing tho last weekend and it was better then. I’ll still go back but I didn’t tip my normal 20% as nothing was what I had came to expect at Juniper. The kale salad with chicken is a fav
This is the second time I ordered something medium or medium well and it came out rare or almost rare. I ordered the steak medallions (that dish was exceptional), but it came out rare. As they did the first time, I was comped the price of the meal and another was provided. Server was outstanding. However, this did delay the time of our meal and our young daughter was tired by the end, and my companions had all finished their meals when I received mine.
Went in for dinner on a Friday night with reservations and had to wait for our table to be cleared for about 5 minutes. There is no really good spot to wait and didn't want to crowd the diners seated by standing at their "stand up bars." We each had a cocktail, a shared app (meat and cheese plate), and entrees. Cocktails were the best part of the meal. The charcuterie had three cheeses, one meat, some mediocre sliced baguette, a chutney, and olives. None of the cheeses were described to us, but one was obviously a blue, one was a (crumbled up into crumb-sized pieces) cheddar, and one was indiscriminate white cheese with almost no flavor. Was hoping for a better curated platter because of the "fit for foodies" tag on Open Table. One of us had the chicken sandwich and fries--the fries were very dry and clearly had been sitting for a long period of time under a heat lamp; the chicken was good, but the bacon was chewy and the rest of the sandwich was sloppy. The other one of us had the salmon, and while the gin honey sauce was good, the salmon was very overcooked. Looping back to the being crowded, there were constantly people from the stand up bar tables within our personal space the entire time we were seated. Some of the decor was chintzy (like the silly beer signs.) This was our first time at Juniper and will be our last.
Juniper is one of our favorite restaurants in Boise. We dine there regularly because of the quality food, the atmosphere, the staff, and the location.
Great food! Waitress was very sweet and pointed out the gluten free options on the menu for me.
