Love juniper!! Right now they have a limited menu but it’s still their great food!! Service was exceptional; felt very safe and extremely happy with everything after leaving.

The atmosphere and service were nice, but we all expected better food for what they charged. The dinner menu was very limited as well. I hate leaving a sub-par review, but it is what it is.

First time out after the reopening. Everything was excellent. We went with the Pre Fixe Menu and I can't recommend that option enough. Great value, great food.

We had a great dinner with another couple. My husband and I are vegan and really liked the vegan ramen and the lentil beet burger. Both delicious! We got there at 5:30 so we had time to enjoy their 2 for 1 happy hour drink specials, and we didn't have to be sitting in the bar for that. Great food, great service, and reasonable prices.

The food and service was impeccable. I'm still dreaming about having seconds on the Bison tenderloin with the grilled asparagus and potato puree. The baked brie appetizer was delish!

Out of the 10 times I have been here, I've LOVED 9 of them! Unfortunately this last time wasn't great. They took my all-time favorite dish off the menu, the waitress wasn't very friendly, and the food this time around was just okay. Went here for my birthday but don't know if I will go back.

We were seated by the door and it was cold! Plus the crowd coming in were awfully close to our table. The ambiance was terrible but the food was awesome and we had a great server. Will go again and request a table further into the restaurant.

Food was awesome, service was great, the place is beautiful but the restaurant temperature was a little cold for my wife and I. Maybe it’s just personal preference, but it’s the second time we’ve been there and in both occasions we looked at each other and said “it’s a little chilly in here, isn’t it?”. Other than that it was all perfect.

UPDATE: Juniper did reply with an apology and offer to make things right. I appreciate their responsiveness.

We always love Juniper for special occasions and for any night of the week, but this Valentine’s Day we had a terrible experience there. When I made the reservation (a month ahead of time) I requested a table for two, upstairs. We showed up early for our 7pm reservation and I could see my table request on the hostess reservation sheet. We followed the host back to the six-top table by the bathrooms and were seated between two other couples. The table is wide, much to wide for conversation without raising your voice, so all three couples sat awkwardly talking to their respective Valentines. Not exactly romantic. I would have gotten over the lack of attention to my reservation request, except for the fact that our drinks took 20 minutes. (Our appetizer arrived before they did) I usually like the set menu options at Juniper for special occasions but this time we found ourselves totally unimpressed with our choices. What we did end up ordering (I had the duck ramen and my wife had the beet burger) tasted fine, and would have been a nice lunch option, but not for a Valentine’s dinner. Two other couples were circulated through to our table by the time we had finished (under an hour) and the desert options were never even presented, so we paid our check and left. All in all it was a disappointing dinner. While the drinks are always good at Juniper and the atmosphere typically makes a fun night out, I won’t do another romantic date there, and I certainly won’t take the time to make a reservation. There are much better options for a romantic dinner in Boise.

I think if I weren't seeking a romantic dinner, this place would be perfect. The food is above average, and the drinks are amazing. Cheers.

My boyfriend and I came here for Valentine’s Day on friday. The service received from the waitress was 5 star, and the food was delicious (pricey, but delicious).
However, it appears they were not prepared for our reservation that I made 2 weeks ago. Two weeks ago! They called to confirm the reservation two days beforehand, and they also have a cancellation fee- that kind of a reservation
When we got thereat 6:30, the hostess asked for my first name, went through her list, then asked for my last name. She then went to go “check on our table” to see if it was ready, going to the back of the restaurant. But when she came back to the hosting booth, she ended up seating us at the same table as another couple, right next to the door and the hosting booth (loud and cold, definately not private like all of the other tables). The other couple was maybe 2 feet away from us. When I make a reservation for Valentines day, I’m not hoping to sit at another table with another couple, this was supposed to be a special date and we were paying a LOT of money for the food and service (we did an appetizer, got drinks, he got the ribs and I ended up getting the Prawns, both were $30+ plates, AND we got dessert to go). It was obvious they weren’t ready for our reservation. If they consider seating us a table with another couple right next to the door and the lines of people at the hosting booth a reservation, then I would say this place isn’t the best spot for occasions such as Valentines day.
Based on this visit, I would say Juniper is more for casual dining, not for special occasions.
Who knows, maybe the staff just wasn’t prepared and this was a one time thing that doesn’t happen often. I get that things happen. In that case, if they weren’t prepared for us I wish they would’ve just said so, apologized, and asked us if we were willing to wait 10-15 minutes for a table to open up. Otherwise it would’ve been a 5 star experience.

This may have been one of the best meals I have had in Boise in a long time. We shared a couple appetizers and one entree. We had the habanero brussel sprouts, pork belly Gorgonzola fries, and the steak and shrimp. The fries could have used more meat and sauce, but the brussel sprouts were great. The steak and shrimp were cooked perfectly and were very delicious. Makes we want to go back right away.

We had dinner on Valentine's Day and were looking forward to a romantic evening. We were seated up stairs at a table in the middle of patron and staff traffic. It was loud and had a cold draft. We ordered crab cakes to start ($17). The appetizer was two 2" round, 1/4" thick cakes. They were quite good but not big enough to share. We both ordered the seared scallops topped with caviar ($37), served with green beans and mushrooms atop a beet and gorgonzola puree. The 3 scallops and puree were delicious. However, the scallops and mushrooms were lost in the sauce and the tiny bit of caviar offered nothing more than a bit of decoration. The 8 green beans were 2 minutes before aldante, and so difficult to cut I just gave up. After we paid our $125 bill we went home and had dinner.

We made a reservation about 10 days before Valentine's Day because we knew it would be busy. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time. We were told that it would take a few minutes as they were "rearranging things." We waited a few more minutes while the people up front were running around like their hair was on fire. The funny things was that it was about 5:00 PM. There were 4 couples in the mostly empty restaurant. We were a little puzzled as to why they weren't prepared for us.
Then another couple walks in the front door. They announced that they had reservations at the same time we did. They were told that they had to wait a few minutes while the restaurant was "setting thins up." We continued to stand there and wait. Meanwhile, a third couple walks in the door and also announces they have a reservation at the same time as we do. Again the people up front advise them to wait while they get things situated. There are three couples waiting up front in a crowded space by the front door while the restaurant is virtually empty and the wait staff act like they don't know what day it is.
Finally a gal says "Follow me" and we follow her all the way through the back of the restaurant up a narrow flight of stairs to the top floor. Then she takes us to a very small table with two chairs, up against the back of the wall. The back of my chair was adjacent to the entrance to the bathroom and the kitchen. Our gal didn't seat us. Instead she promptly bent over and started messing with the table. For some reason the table was wobbly. So we sit and look at her backside for a few minutes while she's messing with the table legs.
Finally she finishes and we get to sit down. There's only one other table upstairs with us and it's a table of 4. The rest of the upstairs is empty. Restaurant staff rush back and forth behind me headed to the kitchen. Pretty soon customers start heading up to the bathroom. One lady hit me in the head with her purse.

As always, Chef Aaron and the Juniper staff did a wonderful job. I made a reservation for our Executive Leadership to have dinner and have never received so many compliments and raves about the food and the service. Makes me proud to send out of towners to one of my favorite restaurants!

Your restaurant is way too loud. Even our server had to yell at us and read our lips so we could order. We were a party of four and couldn't hear each other. Invest in sound absorption tiles for the ceiling immediately.
