Juniper Bistro - The Juniper Hotel Ratings and Reviews
My partner and I have an annual dinner at Juniper every year while there for my Christmas party and we have never been disappointed, and this time was no exception. The server was friendly and attentive. The food came out in a very timely manner and as per usual, the presentation and taste was outstanding. We both had the rib eye which was cooked to perfection and the sides complimented it well. We will definitely be back next year!
Our server was great. Love all the gluten free options. We wish you would bring back the wagyu burger (please!). One suggestion, the music playlist was very repetitive and didn't seem to suit the restaurant or clientele. Was a modern country, lots of same artist over and over for 2+ hours.
We were staying at the Juniper for our honeymoon and were blown away by the great service and amazing quality of food. Fresh ingredients prepared by excellent chefs gives amazing flavors on each plate that made dining a great pleasure. Would recommend to everyone
We were there for brunch. I thought my poutine was great. My boyfriend thought his pulled pork taco dish was bad. The coffee tasted like Chinese herbal medicine with my dish without enough cream. My boyfriend thought the coffee tasted like work office coffee and thus overrated for three dollars a person.
The spectacular mountain views are an absolutely perfect backdrop for an intimate brunch. Service was spectacular, Caesar’s were perfection and the brunch is what foodie dreams are made of. Excellent variety of choices, first-class presentation, all around a wonderful dining experience. If you are in Banff this restaurant is a MUST
Breakfast on the patio with great views was delicious. We returned for dinner a few days later and it was equally delicious. The service both times was very friendly, prompt and non-intrusive. It's very nice to dine someplace away from downtown Banff and away from the crowds of people. We will return!
We had the most delicious dinner (all of us ordered the duck and we all loved it!). The server was very attentive and knew his wines well. Breathtaking scenery - lucky enough to get a window table. The poke appetizer was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked.
We stayed at the hotel and decided to eat dinner here, plus the reviews all said good things. We loved every bite of our dinner. The butternut squash soup was to die for and we ordered the game birds for two - which had a half chicken and duck confit with seasonal veggies - we ate every last morsel because it was so good! The next morning we ordered room service and the food came piping hot and once again everything was delicious. We ordered the steak and eggs and the Juniper benedict - which was braised rabbit with buffalo mozzarella. The presentation of the food was beautiful and the service was perfect.
We heard this restaurant was one of the best in Banff, so we rearranged our schedule to eat brunch here. It did not disappoint. I had eggs, sausage and potatoes. Those potatoes were the best I've had in my life! The views were fabulous with squirrels underfoot, a sparkling lake in the distance and a clear blue sky overhead. We will come again.
Food was top notch but the restaurant was not ready for us when we arrived on time for our 8:00 PM reservation. The restaurant was only half full but the staff seemed unable to keep up with the guests present-perhaps they were understaffed. The $5 charge for bread and butter was irritating and unnecessary ( considering the prices of the main course).
My mother and I really enjoyed our stop here for breakfast. I got the steak and eggs and she got the Juniper Benny (eggs benedict with rabbit) both were delicious. Service was a tad slow, but it gave us more time to enjoy the beautiful view. Would definitely recommend!
Went for breakfast at 10:00 am on a Friday. It was not busy. Sat by the window because it was windy outside. Beautiful view. I had the salmon benny and my husband had the steak and eggs. Both were very good and a little different from the norm. The steak and eggs came with a roasted pepper/oil "relish" that was really delicious and unique. The salmon benny was served on a lemon biscuit that was also delicious and unique. Poached eggs were done perfectly!
Very nice place; the service was great, food was delicious.
Tried the Butternut Squash soup of the day; then had the Duck Breast w/ Blueberry sauce and Black Lentils, and the Pork Short Ribs w/ an Asian Glaze, with Cannelloni Beans, Tomatoes, and Brussels Sprouts
A hidden gem in Banff. With second to none views, amazing food and warm service. My only complaint would be the country music playing. Otherwise, Everything about the place is wonderful And a must to place to visit if you want to spoil someone special.
The view is always astounding at this restaurant. Where else can you dine right in the mountains? The patio is amazing but inside with the view is just as good. We had the corn salad - so so nice. We also had the tomato salad equally delightful. Wonderful desert as well. Top this off with a nice bottle of red and it made for a perfect evening. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and we will most definitely return soon.....
The view is spectacular. The Lingcod was our favorite dish, the pork ribs were good as well. The Ahi Tuna Poke was tasty, but had really hard black fresh grains in it that you could not chew. I will ask that they leave them out next time.
The service was attentive. We started at a pub table in the cozy bar and were transferred with no complaints or attitude to an outdoor table when one became available.
We will definitely eat here again when we are in the area.
Juniper Bistro is fantastic and has gotten even BETTER from when they first opened! Can't wait to return! Went for a milestone birthday (with a short stay at the hotel) and was SO glad my spouse had booked us here for dinner! Began with their (optional) vegetarian cheese plate -- SUPER selection of 4 artisan cheeses that were a superior selection than at most Calgary restaurants, with both GF, in-house polenta chips for me, and chewy bread for my spouse, plus really tasty condiments, e.g wild blueberry compote seasoned with anise? Would eat the larger plate as a meal!
Entree, a wildly good and inventive GF vegetarian potato gnocchi. SO delicious a BIG bowl = great value; took much of it with us to savor again another day! My spouse had their rib-eye main, that was done omg, amaaaazingly well...MUCH better than ANY fine dining Calg. restaurant (and we've tried LOTS)! Cooked perfectly to order (rare), melt in your mouth, beautifully seasoned, all veggies (butternut squash, bok choy, red onion?) with it were cooked perfectly and also seasoned wonderfully.
The chocolate tart I chose for dessert (also GF) was also yummy! Like a choc. ganache with cassis puree & bits of sponge toffee...DROOL! And they so kindly wrote "Happy Birthday!" on the plate. Much appreciated, since so few restaurants these days (including pricey ones) acknowledge special occasions by doing something nice for you.
Cocktails were inventive and tasty. Tried the rye sour & smoky bourbon. (Choc. martini looked beautiful, too!)
Service was very helpful, pleasant, knowledgeable, friendly, timed well throughout (no rush). (thanks again, Ben!)
View from windows is lovely, overlooking their great patio & the mountains.
Only 2 disappointments were music selection -- not quieter, more soothing music as was originally; now louder pop & ROCK, unsuited to ambiance from such a place. And lounge staff ignored us completely after dinner, so we departed to our room instead.
An absolute disaster. When we arrived the place was not crowded and a number of staff were in conversation around the bar. There was total confusion as to who should seat us-- who we should follow, etc. My party was eventually seated at a beautiful outdoor table-- never to be acknowledged again. After no server greeted us and offered to take our drink order, I actively engaged 3 different staff members in eye contact while we carried on conversation to queue there was an issue- no response from anyone. One of my party said "it's been 23 minutes since we arrived". I was mortified it had been that long. I went inside-- and found same group of staff gathered in casual conversation around the bar. I told greeter ( manager) -- we had no server. While he verbally apologized his actions and demeanor showed no concern. I apologized to my party and told them we were going elsewhere. I have NEVER left a restaurant due to poor service. I told the manager it was inexcusable to miss the basics as he had. Again -- words said "sorry" but trust me-- this guy couldn't care less. It was embarrassing to take my family there. I would never send anyone to this place-- ever.
