Juliette's Bistro at Omni Jacksonville Hotel Ratings and Reviews
We wanted a light dinner before the symphony. We ordered three items off the Spanish Tapas menu. The Albndigas were not hot and very dense with no taste. The other two items the Chorizo meat ball dish, I forget the name was hard as a brick, when I
tried to cut into it with a fork it went flying off the table. The other tapas dish something on toast was not memorable either. Overall, for Spanish dishes all were poorly prepared and totally lacking in spices or taste for that matter. I was reminded of something a waiter once said to me about good Mexican food in San Antonio. " If we made good Mexican Food the tourist wouldn't eat it". I realize the Omni main menu would have probably been better and this was a specialty menu that in my opinion was poorly executed. We'll stick to the main menu for our next symphony or theater visit.
Appetizers were completely forgotten about and entree came first.
The crab and corn bisque had completely zero crab meat in it. Don’t order. Terrible in taste.
Crab cake was good when it finally arrived.
Biscuit thats given with butter was completely rock hard. Could not eat. Had to bring more.
The shrimp and grits had sausage to reduce the amount of shrimp given. If your charging $24 dollars give at least 8-10 shrimps. Not five.
Service and ambiance was good but I guess there were too many customers and not enough staff (cooks).
Menu needs to be revamped and broadened. Period!!
We usually go to Indochine before the show but decided to try Juliette's for a change. We sat in the outside section of the restaurant (the lobby?). The ambiance was terrible...poor lighting and cold. The food is WAY overpriced for the quality. I had simply grilled mahi mahi which was too salty. One of our guests asked to have his mahi blackened only a few minutes after the order had been placed. He agreed to have it changed but he must have forgotten and by the time it came we were not able to wait for them to blacken it. I will never go back. It was OKAY but not worth what they charge.
I made reservations for my husband and I to enjoy a nice dinner before we went next door to see the symphony. We valet parked at the Omni and upon arrival to the restaurant we were seated immediately. We were served delicious bread while we waited for our food. One thing to note, where we sat was not completely private, we ended up talking to the people next to us which was ok, the tables were kinda close together on the back wall.
My husband ordered the blackened ribeye medium rare (I think it was a ribeye) and I ordered the filet Mignon medium well. When our food finally came out, my husbands steak was cooked medium well and mine was well done!!! Our server took them back and within a few minutes had fresh steaks back to us, only this time, my streak was medium rare and my husbands was rare and they did not bring me the right side dish that I originally ordered! Needless to say, mine got sent back AGAIN and hubby just ate around his. Three times sent back and finally I was so hungry I ate it.
We ordered dessert after all this, which was very good, and despite all the food problems still made it to the show on time. However, if we have ever had an issue in the past at different restaurants, a manager always spoke with us, even if just to address and notice the issue. No one came to talk to us, the server did apologize and gave us 10% off our $80 dinner (before tip). I was very disappointed in our overall experience. I would go back to give them another try if we go to the symphony again because of the convenience, but I would not get steak again.
Had lunch here on a Friday. We were served requested Hot Tea with no water in the teapot! Chicken Caesar Salad had chicken that was extremely dried out. Grilled fish sandwich was cool in the middle. Manager gave us a perfunctory "sorry about that" when we related this to her.
The waiter was slightly more solicitous and gave 15% off the Caesar salad. Despite its proximity to the theatre and Symphony, it will be a long time before we return.
I like the food and the service; however, I feel that Open Table misled me during the reservation process. You advertised a Thanksgiving Buffet. When I got there the Buffet was over and I ordered from the menu. When I check the fine print, you were honest; but, you were not clear in the way you presented this to me. I would like a refund or a free meal for three some other nice place. I would also like to request that you refrain from you "slight of hand" marketing gimmicks. I know is it was not accidental and feel that I should be compensated. I had no options when I arrived.
Juliette's Bistro is very handy for the theatre since it is a 2 or 3 minute walk to the Florida Times Union Center. Unfortunately, passing on that information to the hostess and the waiter did not keep us from having to gulp down our food in order to make the show. We arrived at 6:40 for an 8 PM show and ordered one of the few choices, Shrimp-and -Grits, and a salad. The salad arrived in about 20 minutes and then we waited almost an additional 30 minutes for our main course and wine.
To be fair the meal was very tasty, but the fact that we had to almost inhale it was unsettling and otherwise ruined the experience. Our waiter was apologetic and even offered a small discount (which was kind) but the dinner part of the evening was sullied by that point.
I also have to say that their prices are quite high; $24 for a portion of shrimp-and-grits is a bit much, and $28 for a half bottle of a plebeian chardonnay (full retail for a 750 mL bottle is $15) is quite exorbitant.
It might be good for after theatre drinks, but we have decided we will not return for a meal.
Our visit was for a dual wedding anniversary with my wife and I and one of our sons and his wife. 49 years fo us and 10 years for our son and his wife. Our son does not consume meat in any form and the Chef on duty was more than accommodating . Overall we had a great time and would recommend friends and family to try the Omni. Also our server was extremely attentive and very accommodating.
We decided to have Father's Day brunch at Juliette's. We made reservations for 1:30 and we were immediately seated. Due to the lateness of the hour, there were some limitations but overall it was a great experience. My favorites were the omelette bar and the snow crab claws. One thing I don't like and I would like to see addressed are the flies and gnats. Otherwise, a wonderful brunch made even more wonderful by the bottomless mimosas!
The corn and crab bisque was delicious but it nevertheless had no corn and no crab. The wedge salad that I had was passable as was my husband's shrimp salad. I had high hopes for a significant improvement in this venue but it has regressed to the same inconsistent restaurant it has always been. The waiter tried but the kitchen again shows signs of mismanagement. The kitchen did not do what the waiter told them to do and brought all the food out at the same time. Totally annoying. I made them return the salads to the kitchen. If Juliette's was not adjacent to the theater and a convenient parking lot, I wouldn't continue to patronize Juliette's.
Please change out the menu served during theatre nights. As we frequently go to Juliette's before seeing a show, it would be nice to have some seasonal options. The last 4 times I've dined there, the menu has been the same. Food is good and quick, but needs to be changed up.
