San Marino, California has been home to Julienne Restaurant since 1985. The quaint restaurant is located on Mission Street, which is in close proximity to local shopping and neighborhoods making it popular with both locals and tourists. The combination of friendly service and the cozy feel of the restaurant make every patron feel right at home at Julienne.
Julienne serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Complimentary rosemary currant bread is offered at each meal. The menu offers options such as Crème Brulee French toast, roasted lamb sandwich, grilled salmon salad or vegetable soup. A market is located right next door where customers can bring home items including jams, pastries, prepared foods and cooking utensils.
Tuesday - Saturday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm; Sunday: 5:00pm - 9:00pm
Justin, the owner and chef, leads Julianne with a creative hand. The menu runs from classic, to Southern to "Justin". All ingredients Farm to Table - fresh, fresh, fresh and each dish more beautifully presented than the next! Once again, We had a very special meal on their closing evening !!! We will look to sampling Justin's artistry at Wildwood, as Julienne closes it's doors. Thank you Justin!
So sad this restaurant is closing. It's been one of our favorites. Glad we got one last chance to enjoy.

Chef Justin remains one of our very favorite SB chefs. His use of fresh local ingredients for his menu creations are uniquely creative to his own personal style of cooking. Hurry in to Restaurant Julienne for a great meal by Chef Justin, before they sadly close their doors on November 12.

Unforntualy after a great 8 year run,they are closing. Santa Barbara looses one its best restaurants.
Julienne never fails! Some of the most eclectic flavors you will find, beautifully plated and served.
I sent my sister in law and her husband on their first day since they had the baby. They came came home with full bellies and filled with lush happiness. Thank you for another great experience for our family.
Our food was excellent. The fish was wild, the mussels were delicious and so were the salads and desserts. First let me say, I enjoy fine dining and have high expectations. The hostess was terrific but our waitress was not knowledgeable about the food at all. I had called the previous day b/c I have food allergies and was told they could accommodate me. They didn't, really. Although she tried, she clearly needed to be better trained as a waitress. We were interrupted, she kept pouring wine when I didn't want any, etc. They were trying to hurry us in anticipation of the Lobero crowd, which to my surprise, she Told me and my guests. A wait person can really make a difference with the dining experience, as we all know. I'd go back but not for a special occasion, just a mid-week dinner out perhaps, because the food was very good.

We had heard a lot about Julienne and finally gave it a try. Our meal was delicious. Who would have thought a cauliflower salad could be so tasty!!! My salmon was probably one of the best I have had in a restaurant. My husband had the beef cheeks and they were very tender in a perfect broth. We look forward to coming back and trying more items!
The tasting menu with wine pairing is excellent. Love the seasonal changes and interesting use of ingredients. Stone fruit salad so good.
This was our first visit to this restaurant. It was selected based on mostly good reviews and walking distance from our hotel. My wife and I chose 3 course tasting menu for each of us. We selected different items so we can share and taste each others food.
My wife selected:
1. Lamb Meatballs, Pine Nuts, Dried Cherries, Olives, Chickpea Puree, Red Pepper-Tomato Sauce
2. Steamed Mussels, Bok Choy, Turnips, Radishes, XO Broth, Crispy Wonton
3. Duck Leg for the tasting menu for both of us as explained by our server. A la carte menu states "Duck Duo, Duck Breast, Boneless Duck Confit, Puffed Rice, Peanuts, Shaved Cabbage, Vietnam Vin"
1. Roots Farms’ Lettuces, Ojai Valley Sprouts, Hard Cooked Egg, Shallot, Parmesan, Lemon Vinaigrette
2. Ramen Noodles, Pork Belly, Hard Egg, Kimchi, Radishes, Green Onion, Ramen Broth
3. Duck from above
We also shared a bottle of local Chardonnay with our meal.
We both like the Lamb Meatballs. Salad was OK. The lettuces was not as fresh as I like (i.e. brown ends). Steamed mussles were really bad and not fresh tasting. Ramen was OK but not a good value for what we paid. We both liked the duck. It was really good. Service was good but not great. Sorry but I cannot recommend this place based on our experience. We would not come back again.
Original inventive food, beautifully presented with just the right wines. Would have liked a decaf espresso at the end but no place is perfect. Very interesting food in just the right size portions. Bravo!
Great food, great ingredients. Love this place. Their stone fruit salad was excellent, as is the country Pate.

This may be the best restaurant in Santa Barbara, seriously. It is fantastic! The menu is inventive and fresh. While there are others that are also good, Julienne's menu is by far the most creative, and with the ability to create your own tasting menu, you can try almost all of it with your companion.

We are sad to see our favorite Santa Barbara restaurant closed. But there new spot, Wildwood Kitchen is great...
The menu has changed and features some new items - although we miss the calamari Korean tacos - everything was wonderful - especially the Sweet Corn salad and the roasted octopus.
This is our go to restaurant if we find ourselves out late after a meeting or school function. The menu is always inventive. The only bummer is often the special is sold out before we arrive.

Toilet was too close to kitchen. Food prep and clean up to close together and too close to toilet. This joint is a dive pretending to be upscale.
As always, Julienne comes in at the very top of my list for restaurants in SB. The incredible food combined with comfortable service and fabulously interesting wine list... can't be beat.

Julienne is one of our favorite Santa Barbara restaurants. We love the casual, intimate vibe and the creative, every changing menu of local and seasonal ingredients. There is also a great wine list full of interesting gems from Santa Barbara County and around the globe. The staff is very helpful and accommodating and they really know the menu and the wine list. We gone there for special occasions, family get togethers and sometimes just for a casual meal. It never disappoints.

As always, Julienne does not disappoint. The food quality is as fresh as inventive ideas that inspire the dishes.
Julienne consistently serves high quality ingredients in interesting combinations usually seasonally oriented. Always good, always something new and often subtle tweaks to old favorites.
Four of us in Santa Barbara went here at suggestion of the bridal couple, and we found it met all expectations. Relatively small, all courses excellent and properly prepared. Not fast food, but we found a leisurely meal that was much to our liking
We had the grilled Octopus Appetizer - I had to talk my friend in to "braving it", as she is not an adventurous eater - it was outstanding - friend is a convert. We then tried a new item on the menu - Chicken Fried Trout - I did not want a "bready" experience, but the folks sitting next to us were raving about it and I have to write that it was exquisite. - Somehow, only the top had a thin, crispy-fried breading - the trout held it's own and was perfectly cooked. I will go back again for the dish. It was served with Pickled Green Beans, Radishes, Confit Potatoes, Sauce Gribiche - really a perfect plate.

At first, we were super excited - finally! really good food in Santa Barbara! We each did a tasting, and at first the service was quite attentive. However, we started to notice a lull - it took a long time between the first and second course. Then it took a REALLY long time from collecting the second course and bringing the third - like 45 minutes!!!!! Our waiter came by once to apologize and then pretty much hid from us and had someone else bring the food. I will say they comped one tasting from our bill, but it's such a buzz-kill! I'd rather enjoy my evening out and pay for dinner than be annoyed! When the food did come, it was very good. But I won't lie, we almost left before it was served.
This place is truly a gem in downtown Santa Barbara. Best restaurant I ate in all week.
We are always pleased with the creative ever changing menu. We have never had anything we didn't enjoy. We do make sure that we order at least 2 new dishes each time we dine and we are never disappointed. We have learned to share so that we are able to enjoy more flavorful dishes.
Reminder - allow for a European style dining experience - plenty of time between courses so savor and enjoy.
On our visit last week we especially enjoyed the fresh corn appetizer which is seasonal and oh so flavorful.
Can't wait to return for another fabulous meal. I'm positive you won't be disappointed.

Innovative chef who is on location and helped the staff serve the customers. A bit noisy for our tastes but would be just fine for the younger crowd. Service was very slow, especially for an week day dining experience. Would go back if the atmosphere was a little less "energetic".
