Julia's on Broadway Ratings and Reviews
Service was very poor . Wrong drinks were brought out to us. The wrong food was brought out to us. We waited so long we just accepted what the server brought to us because we didn't want to keep waiting. We made a reservation to watch the show but the hosts were standing in the way the whole time. Won't be coming back again next year or ever again. It was not worth the wait . We spend money at establishments with in the LGBTQ community all the time however sadly we won't be coming back to this one.
After reading fair reviews for Julia's brunch offerings, I thought this would be a casual spot to take some friends for an lazy Sunday meal. When we arrived they had no record of our reservation and scrambled to find us a table. The restaurant itself was so cold that I had to keep my jacket on the entire time. We asked the waiter what he recommended on the menu and he said "I don't really eat here, I can eat meals for free but I never do". Later another waiter came by to take our order and so we asked him for recommendations, he responded with "I usually work at night, not in the morning, so I'm not really sure what's good." Needless to say, we made our own decisions. The food didn't take too long to arrive but my friend who ordered the pancakes ($11), literally got ONE pancake and no sides. The waiter said he didn't know if this is how it normally came since he didn't usually work mornings. Overall, the breakfast food was pretty standard. Nothing to rave about. Overall, I don't have any reason to go back there for brunch. There are too many amazing spots in Seattle that there is no reason to waste my time/money here again.
Made a reservation for brunch and it became clear nobody at Julia's really pays attention to these from open table... wasn't even aware of our visit -- probably waited 15-20 mi despite only 4 tables being serviced. The space was being prepped for one of their shows, so most of the dining room was closed... felt a little like a construction site with 90% of the restaurant curtained off. The bar staff was super friendly and did their best to accommodate despite pretty awful food from the kitchen (all of our food came out cold, 3 plates still had egg whites that were undercooked) and a freezing dining room due to an open door in the back that was being used to set up for the show. We didn't want to dwell on all the negatives, so we made it the best of a pretty disappointing visit. There are so many other great places for brunch in the area (this used to be a viable option)... was surprised how bad it was here. Bad enough I don't think any of us would ever consider it a legitimate brunch option again... better for just a show with drinks. Service great, but pretty much everything else disappoints.
We just happened to see that Julia's had a drag show after our dinner reservation was arranged. They happily added our group to the audience and it was one of the best shows I've seen anywhere! Professional performers, beautiful costumes, and people having a great time. Fun groups in the audience too: bachelorette and birthday parties. You gotta do it!
The hamburger I had didn't have much taste and was very dry (I ordered it medium well). The service was very slow, we waited about 15 minutes before somebody came to take our drink order. Then waited about 10-15 to get our check. The check had a 22% tip included... Which in our opinion was not deserved. My recommendation to Julia's is that if they are going to add such a big tip, that they own it and provide better service and quality of food.
Having Christmas brunch at Julia's on Broadway is now an annual tradition after this year and last. They have a great brunch menu with tasty egg dishes plus crepes and waffle choices. Great breakfast cocktails and coffee!! Thanks again! see you next Christmas.
We did not end up dining at this restaurant. I had no idea what type of environment this was (it is described as family friendly on Open Table) and I mistakenly made reservations for my husband's birthday. It wasn't until my family, which includes three school aged boys, we're outside the restaurant that I noticed the sign and heard the loud music from a drag show that was going on inside. I immediately sent the boys back to the car in the pouring rain, and I called the restaurant and asked about the drag show. I was told this place is a family friendly establishment...I clearly did not agree, and since our reservation time had elapsed by that point, I requested that our reservation be canceled. Of course the reservation was NOT canceled and we could not make another reservation at a restaurant that was more appropriate for our family, but we found out about Roosters, which was up the street a couple of blocks, and we dined there and had a great time. In fact we have been back to Roosters a few time since, so I guess it wasn't all bad. It is unfortunate that the description of this place on Open Table is not quite accurate.
We went for the thanksgiving "buffet" and the food was incredible and tasted fresh and homemade. They offered us seconds but we were so full that we declined. This was a 4 course meal for an amazing price. I'm not sure about the regular menu and price but I would definitely return!!!
I made the reservation for brunch based on their menu. When I arrived, it was very loud. I opened the door and saw a drag show going on. I was seated where I could not see the drag show, but I could hear it. It was very loud. I assume I would have had to have paid an extra fee for the drag show, but I was not aware that a show was even going to be happening when I made the reservation. I would go again, for the drag show. But I would not go DURING a drag show and expect a nice brunch!
Julias is a neighborhood gathering spot for brunch/breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are especially fond of their morning offerings with the Breakfast Burritos, omelets and waffles being just enough different to be interesting, but not so much so that they are an adventure. Service is always friendly and the food delivered is consistently of good quality.
I will warn you that although you may make a reservation on Open Table their computer system does not record them. Recommendation is either remove themselves from the Open Table site or get the right system integration.
Pathetic excuse for Bloody Mary, merely tomato juice and NO seasoning whatsoever. We looked everywhere to add something to our drinks... Including hot sauce, A1, and anything else we could find... But they were the WORST Ever!! Overcooked poached eggs (hard) on Benedicts and TERRIBLE huevos rancheros - really, just overcooked eggs on a boring cold tortilla with a bland blob of guacamole and some sour cream, with cold and unseasoned potatoes.
We were there to celebrate a birthday and the new year, but we will NEVER return.
I think the only reason to go to this place might be for the drag show and drinks. We should have known when we walked in at 7:15 pm, and the place ws empty. The food was awful. I had fish and chips that tasted like they came from the frozen food section of a grocery store. The only thing that was acceptable was the cole slaw. Our server was nice enough, but we ordered an appetizer, and that we brought out with the meals, and our water was never refilled. We did not stay for the drag show, so I can't comment on it. Will not be going back.
A great choice for Christmas Day brunch. We had stayed downtown at a hotel and didn't want to go to one of the few restaurants open, since they were all at hotels. Great coffee, my wife had an excellent chicken parm., I had the great chicken fried steak and eggs, and my daughter had the strawberry waffle with whipped cream. So all appitites were satisfied. Wished I would have had one of the great looking Bloody Marys but I needed to go back home to open presents rather that nap. Looking forward going to one of the Sunday "Queen of the The Brunch" revues in the near future!
I asked for recommendation and was told to have the Eggs Benedict. It was the blandest food I've ever had. I also felt rushed even though the restaurant was not crowded for Brunch. The staff was more interested in watching the World Cup than caring about the customer
Dined here with 9 friends and at time of seatin, there was an irritating glitch. I originally reserved through open table for 6 and day before brunch date, I spoke to Karston to request seating for addl 4. He said it was fine but when we arrived, reservation was for 6. Had to wait 15 minutes for the rest of the group to be seated. Not a good start.
The 4 of us sat and we placed our order and when food arrived we had no silverware even though we asked earlier. My observation was it was to busy and wait staff had difficulty just providing the basics.
Noise level very loud & we had to shout to converse.
Although there were negatives, I would still recommend Julia's. Food was delicious and generous portions.
Julia's has an old Seattle feel with the older architecture. However, the menu has many options and the drink menu is very current and relevant. Food was fast, plentiful and prepared well. None of that fancy, mini serving stuff here! We stayed for the show - which I highly recommend! The people were friendly and the place was a buzz with good energy! From the welcome at the door to the exit point - 100% Great!
What a great way to spend Sunday enjoying the drag show at Julia's. We celebrated our anniversary here and it was awesome. Good show and the wait staff, especially the mgr, was very sensitive to our needs without being a stalker. Good energy and a fun time.
