The food was excellent. Always good. The service though.... our waiter was struggling. He had 4 tables and seemed to be flustered. We waited much longer than I would have expected. Very slow. That was a first for us at Judson’s as we’ve always had excellent service there.
My husband and I celebrated a birthday dinner here and enjoyed everything --- great food, friendly service, just the right ambiance for a relaxing evening out.
Our waiter, Colin R, made our experience outstanding. He listened, recommended and was right about what to order. The food was exceptional. The restaurant was elegant with a welcoming atmosphere.
Very much enjoyed our dining experience.
Food was great. The server was very friendly but seemed like he had too many tables and felt like he was running behind. Didn't seem like his fault he was doing his best, just seemed like the only waiter in a large area. Food was great, I highly recommend.
Server was very slow
We made reservations and when we arrived, we were told that we would have to wait 10-15 minutes. A few minutes later we were seated because a group who got seated right away (without reservations), got up and left. When I make reservations I expect to be seated at the reservation time
We really enjoyed the service and the atmosphere. It was my birthday and we truly enjoyed our time there. We enjoyed lobster and steak, and shared the Truffle Au Gratin Dauphine Potatoes. The wine list was lovely, and we enjoyed looking at it and choosing our wines, as well. We would highly recommend Judson's Steakhouse.
My husband and I had the most delicious meals! Excellent steak, and the wild salmon was out of this world! It was a wonderful evening, and a great place to celebrate our 45th Anniversary. Service was very good, even though it was a busy evening, and our waitress couldn't have been more pleasant and efficient. Just an all-around great experience! (We were first-timers!) Definitely an A+ experience!!
Took a bit to be seated because hostess was no where to be found. Two employees walked right by without saying a word.
We chose this restaurant out of convenience to 20Monroe Live. It is good for that aspect as there is an entry to the venue on the 2nd floor of the building and the staff was ver cognizant of the time frame we were in. The servers were very friendly and helpful. However when it came to the food, presentation was very nice but quality could be improved.
First time there, and nothing that great about it that makes us want to go back. From the moment we walked in, there was nobody there to greet us and it took a couple minutes for anyone to even acknowledge we were there. Service was quite slow, the restaurant was not even close to being full and the prices were high for the small portions you receive. They are known for their steak and mine wasn't that great.. overcooked and no flavor. Have had better from everyday chain restaurants.
Celebrated a birthday and had a great experience with an awesome waiter.
The night we went, the dining area was a bit smelly, and the service was very slow - it took 40min to get our order delivered.
Not sure what happened with Judson’s. In the past service was great, dinners were excellent, and there were more choices on the menu.
They were out of drinks specials, and entrees Service was at a snails pace.
Just seems like a forgotten establishment. Wouldn’t recommend. Too many new places to check out in downtown GR
Food was great but ambiance isn’t too quiet.
Great meal again.
Wedge Salad, Signature Bacon Wrapped Boursin Stuffed Filet, Brussel Sprouts and Truffle Au Gratin Dauphine Potatoes can't be beat.
Our server, Mackenzie, also did a great job!
This place charges the same as a top tier steak houses but it's not.
Party of 4. Excellent service by our server Brock. Food and drinks were very good. Oysters, Crab Cakes, Salad, New York strip, Delmonico, Lobster Mac and cheese, Yukon mashed, Asparagus, Manhattans, Mule, Sangria - Everything was spot on. Left full and had leftovers.
Great food and great wine. Server was friendly and did a great job!
Excellent Food and Service. We really enjoy coming here for dinner.
We had a 6pm reservation on a Thursday night, and were seated right away. All the staff were very attentive. They were running $20 prime rib special and it was A LOT of food. Definitely recommend this restaurant for dinner!
25 mins before any food was served to us .
2 hour supper is outrageous .
We were a party of six and everybody’s steaks were done perfectly...also the three dozen oysters we had were great!
Everything was outstanding! Service, food and value. This was our 6th time there
We were seated in an area with a breeze. We moved to another area and it was too lit. Martini was tasty.
Everything I've ever had there is really good, but the steaks are very good. I've never had a bad cut.
We went to Judson's for our Anniversary on a Monday, so it was really empty. Didn't matter, because everything was great! Our waiter, Tim, was very helpful in helping us decided what we would want to eat (but let's face it, if you come to Judson's, you're likely getting a steak of some kind). I've been once before, and I was dreaming about their garlic mushrooms. We got them again, and they did not disappoint. We would probably go a lot more often if 1)We didn't have a young child and 2)If it wasn't so expensive. But it's great if you want to celebrate something.
Absolutely loved our meal. Our waiter knew a great detail of the wines featured, and even gave us reccomendations and samples to test our pallet. We ordered the tomahawk steak with the lobster tail. I don’t think I will ever eat anything better in my life. I wish I took the bone home with me and put it on my trophy mantle. The vaneltines deal they had for the meal made the overall dinner even better!
The food never fails to be excellent! Obviously, being a steak house, any steak will be superb! Other can't miss items include the crispy brussel sprouts - simply amazing and worth a stop for just those! To top off a great meal, get the crème brule - if they haven't already run out by the time you order. One word of caution - if you order the "tomahawk ribeye for 2" be prepared be become a tableside butcher as the steak arrives in one piece and the table staff have "not been trained yet" to cut the steak for you.
Although plate presentation is undoubtedly part of the overall experience, I was overcome with delight and chose to "dig in" rather than snap a pic - professional food critic I am not! As a result, you'll have to take my word that the meal was as pleasing to the eye as it was to the palate.
In closing - we enjoyed an overall great evening at the BOB checking out the live music in both H.O.M.E. and Bobarino's and we heard they also had some good comics at Dr. Grins. We will most definitely be going back!
Visited to celebrate birthday with my wife. Had two exceptional meals, the lobster tail with a tenderloin added for me and the Hanger Steak signature plate for my wife. Both were very tasty. Ordered the recommended Cabernet special wine and it did prove excellent. Started with the mushroom bruschetta, excellent also. Service was very good and the waiter, Jake, very personable, attentive, and helpful.
Absolutely amazing service, and the food was top notch! Our waiter, Tim, was very attentive without being overly so. We ordered the prime rib, which we found out afterwards was on special, and the French onion soup. Probably the best French onion soup we’ve ever tasted! The prime was done perfectly medium rare, and the taste was out of this world (especial when adding the au joux!). We are definitely going back.
Snowy night, seated promptly. Wait staff outstanding. Found a great, but not well-known cabernet (Trefethen 2013) at a decent price (for it). Had the shrimp cocktail, which was chopped but good. The crostini with mushrooms and boursin was great. Everybody ordered a steak and were extremely pleased. One was slightly over cooked, but he said it was still very good. French green bean side was excellent. Overall, what I hoped for when I booked the reservation, casual, good menu, good service and good food. Now on my list of places to go whenever I'm in Grand Rapids.
We went to Judson's to celebrate my wife's birthday and had a great dining experience. Food was excellent and service from waiter Jake was outstanding. We will be back. Still our favorite restaurant in Grand Rapids.
Its been a few years since our last visit to Judson's and I would say that it continues to live up to its expectations. We loved the Crab Cakes and Wine options. My wife had the lobster and said it was delicious, I tried the Prime Rib special but would probably steak with a steak next time as that seems to be their main strength. It seemed louder than I remember before, so its definitely not the place to go if you are looking for a quiet meal. We usually make a night of it at the Bob and enjoy a show at Dr Grins, drinks at one of the many bars and dinner at Judson's.
Everything was really good. Only thing I would recommend is getting some better steak knives. Seriously those thing need to be replaced.
I would not recommend Judson’s for a dinner before any event in Grand Rapids, unless you have a reservation at least 3 hours prior to it. Our waitress served us drinks and appetizer and then disappeared. Our reservation was 1 1/2 hours prior to a show at Van Andel and we missed the start by 15 minutes.
Made reservations for dinner before seeing Jeff Dunham at Van Andel. The food was fantastic. Started with the crab cakes and the bone marrow. Both were exceptional. Then the Delmonico and New York strip steaks; both made to our specifications. The only negative I have is that their spicy Bloody Mary was lackluster. All-in-all, a great evening.
Highly overrated............picked Judson's so we could be close to the area.
Awesome waitress. Phenomenal food. Great business meal.
Simply put this is the best steak I have ever had. My son and I took my wife out for her birthday. He and I had the tomahawk steak for two. She had the lobster. We all agreed this was in the top five meals we have had in 20 Years.
