Judson’s Steakhouse at The BOB
Food was good, it was nice being able to skip the line because of our reservation.
Birthday celebration- they could make our Gilmore points work? Otherwise no complaints! Nice meal, good waiter-
Elegant but casual setting. Menu offers good choices without being overwhelming. Beautifully crafted cocktails. Our steaks were prepared just as we like and the sides were ample and delicious. It had been far too long since our last visit and we were delighted to learn that our favorite server, Tim, still worked there. He looked after us very competently. Judson's is a top-notch place for a great meal.
Our server was from Italy and was amazing! Food was great as well.
I have to say I was disappointed. My husband and I were just traveling through Grand Rapids on our way to vacation. We like to set the mood for a trip with a really good first evening meal. So, several days prior to our trip I searched for a local restaurant with good reviews and made a reservation.
The service we got was pitiful when compared to the service those around us were getting from the two male severs. They were told about the tomahawk special, we were told “there are no specials I know of”. They were offered suggestions on their wine offering, we wanted 10 minutes for the glass of wine we ordered after we requested now vs with the meal. When I ask for ice for my iced tea; my tea was gone before the ice arrived. I asked for salt which came quicker than anything else, but ……….
Our reservation was for 5:30…..so they were not yet very busy. In fact when we arrived there were four tables seated and three wait staff working. So, it really appeared to be no reason for the lack luster service we received.
My husband enjoyed his salmon and the wild mushroom bruschetta was good.
I would return if I could be guaranteed to get one of the two male servers we saw working.
The service was wonderful and food excellent!
Took 20 mins to get water or a drink and everything else took literally forever to get.
Great food and great service. We had a nice meal for our anniversary.
Good food and great service nice date night
First time visiting this restaurant. We came to celebrate our daughter’s 22 birthday and we couldn’t have been more pleased! The food was outstanding! Best filet I have ever had, waitstaff was super nice and attentive. Would highly recommend Judson’s to everyone!
Tim was an amazing waiter, he has great recommendations for us. The food was wonderful as well. I recommend the charcuterie board and the filet!
Very disappointed in our dinner at Judson’s last night. We’ve been to this restaurant a handful of times and last night was the worst. After being seated, we waited over 10 minutes for anyone to walk up to our table. After placing our drinks and meal order right away we waited another 10-15 minutes prior to our drinks arriving and another 10-15 after that for the bread to arrive. Then when our food arrived, our mashed potato’s and asparagus were covered in blood from the hanger steak, even with ordering it medium.
Judson’s is also not doing the free lobster on your birthday like they previous have. For the restaurant not being busy, I was disappointed with the lack of effort, time and taste. We will not be going back.
We went to celebrate my wife's Birthday. After an hour we had 2 drinks some
garlic bread and still no food. I'm not a snooty patron I understand things happen
but that was poor service and will not be back. Paid our bill and left. So my wife ended up with taco bell for her b-day dinner. Needless to say but it was not a good night.
First of all, this was our Anniversary dinner so we hoping for great service and great food. The appetizers were great and fairly quick to serve, the main course arrived 40 minutes after the order was placed. My wifes food was good however my ribeye was horrendous, I've never spat my food out at a fine restaurant every in my life.
Never would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Terrible!
Great service (Mitch). Terrific food. (Shrimp risotto and KC strip). Always a quiet and easy experience.
Our server was awkward and made us feel really uncomfortable. She did not go over the specials, we heard other waitstaff give quite the opening run down. She barely said two words and they were “sounds good” even when that response made zero sense. Our food was blah and cold. I got the hanger steak Oscar. Asked for it medium it was way past well done. The Oscar, if you call it that, looked like canned tuna. There was no sauce at all. It was over cooked and super cold. Probably won’t be back.
Excellent service and amazing food
Expensive, but great food. We had gift cards, otherwise I'm not sure we would have ever have gone here. Glad we did though!
Food was pretty good. Service was very poor. Wait for check alone was nearly 15 minutes.
Great steaks! And very accommodating. Location was very cool. Right downtown. It's in an old building (The BOB) that has other venues and live music. Delicious dessert. Peasant staff . I would definitely go back.
My steak was so overcooked, I had to send it back. I ordered it medium rare, but I got a well done steak. Not even a sliver of pink anywhere. It took several minutes to find a waitress to mention the issue to. They did cook me a new one, but I didn't get the replacement steak until everyone else was done eating.
We had a reservation for 5 of us, 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a toddler. The staff was fantastic, the food was great and though there wasn't a kids menu for the toddler, the staff was very accommodating and created a dish for the little guy.
The steaks were great, and the sides were amazing. As a table we ordered hanger steaks, a filet and a bone in ribeye. Sides were whipped yukon, asparagus, broccoli and fries. The veggies were done to perfection, the steaks were very very good.
Side note, the building "The B.O.B." is a fantastic place to hang out either before or after dinner. Great spot, we will be back next time we are in town.
I really don't want to be required to write more review.
Our waiter was fantastic, the food was phenomenal. I can’t wait to dine here again!
Great food and excellent service! Nice setting!
Our waiter was exemplary. Definitely a well seasoned server. I cannot remember his name but he was a red head with a beard and glasses. Food was amazing, best porterhouse steak I’ve ever had. Will definitely partake again soon.
Great service by Brandon!!
Good food. Terrible bathroom.
Bone in ribeye was prepped per my request and was delicious. Appreciate the gluten free options for appetizers, main course, sides and dessert.
The Charcuterie platter was great and we thought a great value. The Hanger Steak Oscar was perfect. Steak so tender. Brussel Sprout side dish was the best Brussels of our lives. Yum! Lamb Chops we delicious too! Loved the Blood Orange sorbet, perfect way to end the meal. Very friendly and attentive service. The only downside was the restrooms. They are outside the restaurant and are obviously shared by the bars at the BOB. That was pretty dumpy and although the sinks and toilets looked clean, the rest of the areas like the walls, not so much. Not going into details, but it was gross. We had an early 5pm reservation so the place just opened. No excuse for the bathrooms.
The bouncers at the door were rude and arrogant. Will not be going back.
Great food !!!
Great food and service we will be returning next time we are in Grand Rapids
Went for our son’s 18th birthday and noted this in our reservation but nothing special was done to recognize this. Our waiter started strong but then left us unattended for long periods and we saw other people eating who came in after us while we waited to order. My husband and I both ordered wedge salads but only I got one. Since it was getting late, we chose not to say anything as it would take too long to rectify things. Then when all the steaks came out my husband order med med rare and it came back was med well. They fairly quickly brought him a new one but the rest of us were just about finished with our meals by then.
I always rave about Judsons as the best steak house in GR but it did not live up to it last night yet I will give it another try still as we have had previous great experiences.
Delicious prom night dinner for 2 young adults on their way to graduating soon & off to college.
Their meals were delicious.
The staff was very kind, helpful & complimentary.
When one of the meals came out completely wrong (as in a totally different type of meal), the server corrected the food & adjusted the bill.
Overall it was a nice evening & one of the teens stated that the filet mignon was done to perfection & as they should be - seared on the outside & slightly chilled inside. His father is the former chef at Mountain Jacks from the 80’s, which was THE steak place to go for important nights out. So he’s quite a discerning food critic on steak dinners out.
If you’re not aware or prepared, all items are ordered aka cart.
Overall def a great date night spot!
Great steak!! Definitely would recommend trying this place out
The service was slow. Maybe out of practice because of covid.
