Judson’s Steakhouse at The BOB
Sat at the last seat at the bar. Very comfortable, bartender was awesome, food was absolutely perfect. I had an 8oz filet topped with bleu cheese and crispy Brussels sprouts, along with the house Cabernet. Perfection!
Our meals were FABULOUS! Our Steaks were cooked to our exact preferences! We will be back!
The Prime Rib was excellent but get there early! We enjoyed the last three orders on Saturday evening. We loved the food and the service was excellent. They also have a very nice selection of cocktails. The Vanilla Bean Creme Brûlée was the perfect ending to our really wonderful meal.
We had reservations and were seated right away. Well worth the drive from Chicago.
Thank you to Lauren our server and Karina.
Excellent food. Salmon and steaks very good, service was excellent. Birthday dinner included a feee Lobster tail which was prepared nicely, delicious.
We’ve dined at Judson’s several times and we have always had a great experience. This last time we were not treated for roughly 10 minutes, our sides were burnt and our steaks were both under cooked. The food was extremely bad and we were disgusted by it. We won’t be going back.
Have always enjoyed going to Judson. Food was great and the service was even greater.
our sever was great and the food was very good I will come back
It's still one of our favs in Grand Rapids. We eat there on a regular basis. 'Our' server (Gabby, who always checks the schedule) has our fav bottle of wine decanted & waiting for us. What??? How awesome is that?
I use to go to Judsons a few times a year. After a couple of so-so experiences I decided to give it a break. Last week I was hoping for some great prime rib and decided to give Judsons another try. I made an early reservation to ensure I got the prime rib because they sometimes run out. I ordered my meat medium rare and when it arrived it was closer to well done. Flavor was ok. I had obligations later in the evening and chose to eat instead of dealing with returning my food. On a bright note, the onion soup was excellent. I would also would like to point out that Judsons does not have bathroom facilities. You have to go upstairs or downstairs to find a restroom. Not so much an issue for me, but I did overhear an elderly couple discussing their frustration with this situation. Love the Bob, but I would like to see Judsons perform a lot better.
We went to Judson's in the B.O.B last night after a hiatus of some years while Ruth's Chris was our go-to for celebratory dinners. Tried the Chop House and found it to be not worth the expense. The last couple of times at Ruth's Chris also proved to be not as tasty and even more expensive than before. So, back to Judson's. We were not disappointed at all. There were 4 of us and we had the filet, prime rib and the strip steak. All of the steaks were very tasty and done as ordered. We started with the caviar and lobster deviled egg. Wow, just wow! Excellent! The wedge salad was also excellent as was the knife and fork Caesar--loaded with different types of olives and topped with a Parmesan crisp. Roasted brussels sprouts--a little sweet with maple sugar--yukon gold potatoes, truffle fries and asparagus rounded out the meals, and all were excellent. Our bill for 2 for the deviled egg, the Caesar, French onion soup, prime rib, filet, asparagus and 5 high end drinks was $144, much less than the other restaurants I mentioned. We'll be back, for sure!
Excellent service and food, as always.
Made reservations and were seated promptly when we arrived. Waitress was right over to take drink orders. We had a few appetizers/sides to start and then order the main. All very good and steaks cooked to order. Had a really nice time and will definitely be back.
Took Mom for her 88th birthday. She absolutely loved the Lobster dinner! The rest of us had steaks that were done perfectly! Thank you Judson’s!
Great Service, great food!
Good Food. Because I am a food snob- the plating on the steaks were pretty boring. But the taste was great! I would go back and recommend Judson's. We went into the BOB afterwards and continued to enjoy the venue! Love Downtown Grand Rapids!
Great place for birthdays!!!
Always a comfortable and welcoming room. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
We started with an appetizer to share and it was plenty. The birthday lobster was generous and beautifully presented.
The food was good, the service excellent, and we had a good night out overall. However, we did not feel that the food was good enough to warrant the price tag. We have had just as delicious, if not more delectable dishes elsewhere, for less. But it was a fun experience.
It was a good dinner, I've eaten here many times and this time I wasn't a big fan of my food. The hanger steak was suggested and it was a little charred.
Decent food, priced high. The acoustics drown out sound so it is kinda hard to talk if youre with someone with the music from the other areas and other chatter. Its a better price than going to ruth chris but the food is not good. I would recommend for a special night out over ruth chris if dont want to spend 100 plus
The ambiance is great. Upscale kind of place that really isn’t that expensive.
Celebrated my wife’s birthday, food was outstanding, service was exceptional, and Best part was Chef Alan came out to greet us.
Easy to get to, ramp parking across the street. Mackenzie our server was excellent, very attentive.
On Tuesday, July 23, we (party of 4) had 6:15 p.m. reservations at Judson's to celebrate a birthday. Having dined there in the past, our experience has been of high quality food & excellent service in a quiet atmosphere suitable for enjoyable conversations with our guests.
Unfortunately none of this occurred during our July 23 visit. The restaurant was incredibly noisy and obviously under staffed. Our waiter appeared to be servicing much of the dining room. He was distracted, hurried and misunderstood portions of our order His pushy habit of answering his own questions rather than listening to us was annoying and unprofessional. There were significant delays in receiving our food the bread was tough. The asparagus one of us ordered never came. At best, the main course was what one would expect at a cheap chain steakhouse.
We were told that a concert at the arena was the reason for the noisy crowd but since the arena frequently has events, we would expect Judson's to anticipate this and staff accordingly. And the music volume was set louder than necessary when the restaurant was already crowded which certainly did not allow for enjoyable conversation. Neither the atmosphere nor the service improved after the crowd left.
We hope that Judson's will use this review to restore the quality back to what was once a fine place to dine.
We absolutely love Hudson's. This time was no different than any other. Great food, great service. Thank you!
Great food and service. Thanks!
Great food and service. Our server, Tim, made the experience even better!
Most of the food was quite good, some things were even great, but the Lobster Macaroni & Cheese was totally disappointing. Gilly's Lobster Macaroni & Cheese was an absolute favorite of ours so we were expecting a similar dish, but Judson's was quite awful - pasta was not cooked enough and the sauce was totally mediocre. For the $20 price, we expected something fabulous, like Gilly's. Probably will not return because that was the one item we were craving.
Love the atmosphere and the food is AMAZING! We will for sure come back!
Great service. Great people. Prime Rib was “Meh”. Brussels Sprouts were amazing.
Perfect for a pre concert date dinner
Our server, Mackenzie was amazing. This was our first visit and she was so helpful. The food was beyond delicious. Best onion soup ever!!
Took my boyfriend for his 30th birthday dinner and we were so impressed and pleased with our dinner and service! Will definitely be back again!
We needed a quick dinner on our way to friends. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was tasty. We were more than content!
Stopped in for our anniversary and took advantage of the buy one get one.
Excellent service. Amazingly delicious bruschetta for an appetizer followed by perfectly cooked filet mignon drizzled with sautéed onions and mushrooms. And the truffle steak fries were delicious.
You’d think they would throw in a dessert for the occasion?
Pricey but tasty :) We were a group of six who ordered wine. The wine was a bit pricier than some places, but the food was cooked perfectly, the waiter was really nice and helpful and it's a really beautiful place. Enjoy!
Good food and great service. Our waiter collom was awesome
Jessica was simply lovely....that chic knows her job well. We will return to try other items. Hubby had the prime rib, was really hoping it was a thicker cut. Overall, delicious.
Judson's is our favorite steakhouse so far. It has become one of our 'regulars'. The service is always good. The steaks are perfection.
When we arrived the hostess greeted us warmly and we were shown to a wonderful table. The server was perfect. We shared our story of how a month ago my husband was given a week to live and he underwent a triple heart bypass and we were here celebrating not only his birthday but life itself.
The free lobster dinner was prepared perfectly however the tomahawk steak was the real disappointment. It was prepared perfectly but had absolutely no taste whatsoever and that was what we were looking forward to. Judson's had been recommended to us as a top notch steak house to rival Ruth Chris which is why we chose it for this occasion.
Can we recommend it to our friends? No.
