wonderful, several course dinner to slow down and unwind. great date night and fantastic service.
Had a great time food was phenomenal
Service was great
Date night menu is one of the best in town.
Everything about the restaurant was good unfortunately except for the food. As a flight attendant I travel a lot and eat a lot so I'm quite used to different qualities of dining. We had the duck and the Kobe steak the duck was quite tough and while the steak was cooked to perfection I wasn't overly impressed with any of the flavoring. That being said we were the last diners on what I expect was a busy Valentine's Day so I get it. In a city with not a whole lot of four to five star dining options I was still impressed with the service and the ambience and it was a perfect Valentine's Day dinner after all it's not really completely about the food at that point. I look forward to going again and perhaps trying something different on the menu.
Visited there for the first time for Valentine's day. Table was ready at the reserved time. Drinks were great. We went with the couple's crafted menu. The portions we're perfect. The service was excellent. Would definitely recommend for a date night.
We love JTK, it's really the BEST fine dining spot in Lincoln, has excellent food & exceptional service. They do NOT seem to ever over-book and make you wait. It's pretty consistent also we always have a good experience.
This visit was great over-all but one Kobe steak (and at the market price of over 30.00 this is a big deal) was sent back & the other one he kept because he didn't want to wait, though he did tell the server it was over-cooked, they were NOT med rare. Also the BILL WAS WAY OFF over 50 dollars and the bill seem almost " padded" we were charged for drinks we didn't order so it wasn't like we got the wrong bill or anything, no real explanation why was offered, that was a little disappointing . CHECK YOUR BILL!!!
That situation was a little embarrassing because we brought friends who had never been there.
In other fine dining spots they adjust the bill or at least have the manager come and apologize, when things like that happens but that wasn't offered. It was Valentines Day and they were busy so I won't judge them completely on this experience.
I so love this place. It was my second visit, but hope to make it more often. Great food, amazing service and just a really nice place to unwind and enjoy my spouse's company!
JTK attempts to be a high-end restaurant. The decor, the service and the prices all provide the feel of a top notch restaurant for the area, but the food misses the mark. We chose to do the "date night" special. Nothing we had was bad but nothing was interesting or exciting either. The flavor was just okay. Spices were underused leading to a weak and thin flavor. The temperature of the food was often just luke warm. We decided to upgrade an entree to get the beef tenderloin. Unfortunately it was actually a bit tough to cut and again lacking in flavor.
Great food and mixed drink! We will be coming back.
Amazing food and superior service! Great ambiance! Definitely would recommend for a romantic date night or special occasion!
Wonderful food and wonderful service as always! One of our favorite places in Lincoln!
The food is always amazing and this time was no exception. The service was fantastic.
My first visit to this restaurant. Appearance was not impressive... dingy carpet made you feel like you were in a very old steak house. Wine choice was good. Service was poor... made 2 mistakes on salad order, and very rarely showed up to check on our needs. The meal (chick pea crusted chicken) was very tasty! I would definitely order it again. My husband's meal (scallops) was very good, but not if you're really hungry. The Kobe burger, I would not recommend for the younger palate...even 18 year olds. The Pork Chops were huge, I didn't taste test. My dessert, (chocolate torte) was average. The Banana's Foster was huge, I didn't taste test. We will probably try again, for a quiet dinner.
Great place for lunch before the Husker game. No fighting the beer-guzzling crowds. Server was outstanding.
We have been to JTK several times over the years. One of our favorite restaurants in Lincoln. Great food and great service.
Excellent place to go for an excellent meal and ambiance.
We enjoyed a family dinner a few days before sending our daughter & son back to college. The staff was professional, attentive, knowledgeable and personable...truly adding another layer of Nebraska Nice to a special dinner. We were given the choice of sitting in the quiet back dining room, which resulted in basically having a private dining room. The menu/specials were described with detail and the food delicious and perfectly portioned. This was a pleasant special evening capped off by a thoughtful host, Ben, taking a quick family photo for us. We'll go back while the kids are away for the date night specials... sure way to make the empty nest something to relish!
Our meal was disappointing. The restaurant ventilation was humid and smokey. The staff blamed it on the buildings age. We received our bill without asking if we wanted dessert and it took forever between courses. Just not the experience we hoped for given the hype and cost. I don't often give a review but would want to hear about this experience before I made a reservation.
My husband and I had dinner there Aug. 12. First ones in the door, I think. No one else there.....should have told us something. Adequate service....no doubt there. However our waitress was vague on prices of the specials, what kind of soup that was being served and what zipline beers were in stock. Not a big deal. She found the answers.
Food........BAD food. Tenderloin madelions were very tough. Tenderloin is usually a great cut. This was NOT. Beef was not cooked to medium as I requested. My husband had the prawns. Shells still on and could not be cut or pulled off. Sauce was blah. I must say that the corn soup and his salad were good. Yours was one of the few places who actually served the soup HOT; that was nice. Over all, we were not impressed, will not be back and could NOT recommend your establishment to other. Good luck.
Excellent anniversary dinner! Good dinner options, fresh ingredients carefully prepared, reasonable wine list, Amy (our server) was well informed and gave us just the right amount of attention.
Overall pretty nice experience. Waitress was on top of everything. We were sat next to an A/C vent on the wall that was super cold and the host wouldn't let us move even though the place was scarce. The buffalo mash cocktail was good. Serving sizes were a little on the small size but it was fine because we did the date night special which includes appetizer and dessert. Drinks are small, wouldn't come for them only. Only other con that comes to mind is the carpet is pretty dirty looking, and I'm not someone that normally notices that. I'd try the place again for another date with the wife.
Friends from out of town, it was excellent!
Food was very good, excellent choice of entrees. The service was outstanding; knowledgeable waiter who was attentive without hovering. The atmosphere of the restaurant is good for any occasion where you would look for the opportunity to have quiet conversation. Wonderful wine selection as well. The restaurant was recommended by a friend and I was glad I took the opportunity to try it!
We returned to JTK for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and we were not disappointed. The food was great and their "Date Night" option was perfect for us. The best thing about JTK is their food and their wait staff. Unmatched in Lincoln. Highly recommend for a special occasion or if you're in the mood to have a nice dinner.
Our waitperson took a photo of our dinner party (4 of us) that was absolutely perfect and that will go in our memory book for this special occasion. The atmosphere is outstanding, both modern and historically rich, as JTK is in the old Lincoln train station. It is quiet! Perfect for conversation and enjoying the excellent food and wine. The cost is very reasonable and the date night prix fixe menu is always wonderful, especially because it includes a whole bottle of wine. Just $57 for two people! We love JTK and it's always at the top of our list when we want to celebrate an anniversary, Valentine's Day, or just have a special date.
It's my second time to visit JTK when I come to Lincoln on business. The variety of dishes is nice when a group of people dine together. The service was good and everyone enjoyed the dinner and wine. Will return again
The service and the food are AMAZING!! I don't live in Lincoln but travel there for various reasons as I went to college there. We ate on a Wednesday night. It's been almost ten years since my last meal there. When we walked in it was a bit awkward because there was only 2 other tables dining inside. The quiet was uncomfortable. I don't think there was any music which would IMMENSELY improve the ambience of the place. Luckily the weather was nice so we opted to eat outside so the entire place wouldn't hear our conversation. I was dining with 2 friends and haven't seen them in several years. I wish the seating outside was a little more comfortable/cozy. No candles on the tables or centerpieces, linens or placemats outside..chairs and tables were patio/teak. Again..outdoor background music would have been it even better.
Our server was patient with us as we were so busy chatting deciding what to order took longer than usual of course. The drinks were fantastic (dirty martinis) and definitely strong! I was so impressed by the cleanliness of the glassware. I'm so glad we were able to dine outside. The inside was dark, and they wouldn't allow us to slightly open the blinds when we thought were were going to sit inside next to the window. My initial impression of the inside...it wasn't overly fancy or plush as you'd expect. It seemed a bit ...institutional for lack of a better word. Felt like small banquet room in a hotel. I am anxious to return and sit inside and study it more. I just did NOT like the deafening silence.
Service was fantastic. Shannon was very attentive and didn't rush us. But it definitely wasn't busy so would be curious to see how that might change on a different night.
I will definitely go back. Great date place! Our dishes were all excellent: Salmon, chicken and tenderloin. All cooked to perfection!
Wonderful from start to finish, great ambience, service and food!! We've been there before and will defiantly be going back. Thanks
Great place pre concert as they take reservations and it’s always quiet! Great food and good cocktails too.
Loved the ambiance - white table cloths - overall décor.
Ben was great - awesome customer service. Amy our server was very good as well and did know the menu to a T. We opted for the Date Night menu
The Duck salad was quite good - The Caesar and Wedge salads were AWESOME
My guest had the Beef entre and it was excellent
I had the Pork medallions and was not crazy about them - tooooo crispy/dry.
Also added 2 scallops which were very good.
Dessert was Chocolate Tortes and it was crazy rich and yummy
So the only negative for the night was the Pork -
I will return and tell my friends - just no Pork
JTK was very nice, and the service was excellent. The food was creative and beautifully presented.
I gave it a lower score on food because, while the food was presented well, there were some issues. I ordered the Atlantic salmon over Thai risotto. Overall I think the option lacked some seasoning, primarily salt. Also, all meats that were ordered came out well done/over cooked, which was shocking because the server specifically asked each of us if the recommended temperatures were acceptable. The expectation from the server was that the Salmon would be medium, duck would be mid rare, and the steak would be mid rare. They all came out well, and the scallops were overlooked and rubbery.
We paid a higher dollar for food that was presented at that rate, but didn't match in taste/cook.
We enjoyed the scotch selection and date night menu. The pork belly was amazing!! I appreciated a gluten free dessert option too.
Delicious food & exceptional service. The wine & whiskey selections alone are worth a visit!
The place is tucked away in an historic building in the Haymarket area of Lincoln. The white linen topped tables lends itself to a more sophisticated and upscale atmosphere. The wine selections are top line as well as the scotch choices from the full service bar. I had the Kobe filet which is prepared differently each day. My choice was served with garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus and a demi-glaze which were all delicious. I travel for a living and have the opportunity to eat at many fine dining options and I would say that this experience is comparable to venues I've eaten at in top cities. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for more of an upscale, high end experience.
Great food-- we had a party of 6 that grew to 9 and they were very accommodating. Server was very good, professional, and the manager was very knowledgeable about the wine list
We had been to JTK a number of times in the past while visiting Lincoln. We always had great meals and service. I was a little concerned this trip as I read a number of not so flattering reviews on Yelp. We were pleasantly surprised that once again JTK lived up to our expectations. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed everything that was ordered. Ben also provided wonderful service. I highly recommend JTK.
We have been to JTK many times with rave reviews. However, we were very underwhelmed Friday. Appetizer was excellent. Salads were bland, no offer of pepper. Entrees were not on par for our prior visits. Duck was overcooked. Risotto had good flavor, but mushy.
We will still go back, we were just a bit disappointed.
The appetizer special was pork belly. Words cannot describe how good it tasted. Cocktails were refreshing and mixed well. Really enjoyed the t.d. niche pork. Added some scallops which were pretty ordinary. We will return.
Came here for a nice dinner before the show at Lied. Service was excellent and my dirty martini was among the best I've had. Two of us had the Kobe beef tenderloin from Imperial and it was one of the best cuts of beef I've ever eaten. Full of flavor and the sauce and garnish complemented the beef really well. Had the kale, tomato and goat cheese soup which I expected to be a bit creamier, but was very tasty nonetheless.
Unfortunately we didn't have time for dessert before the show, but the dessert menu looked great as well. This is definitely a special occasion restaurant, but it would rank near the top of my list of fine dining in Lincoln.
