We came here for New Year's Eve and received JSix's Prix Fixe menu which cost $85 and consisted of snacks to share with the table, 2 courses, dessert and a glass of champagne. I really enjoyed the second course which was an ox tail pasta. The snacks were a hit and miss; some were good and others lacked flavor/seasoning. My entree was the grouper which was tasty, but the other guests had duck which seemed to be a better choice. I have been to JSix without a Prix Fixe menu and found I enjoyed the food a bit more.
We had the 4 course meal on new years eve. Portions were super small. My food was cold as it came out and bland. It took over 2 hours to receive this meal. My reservation was at 745 we finished close to 10pm. I waited so long in between courses, it was my husband's birthday and he asked to go to get Chinese takeout because we were still hungry. It was not even busy in the restaurant when we were seated so the excuse got me is gone. For a bill for 200.00 I was completely let done. Never coming back save your money.
Well to be fair we would have actually had the opportunity to eat the food in order to rate it. We had reservations for breakfast. We were seated rather quickly. Within minutes the waitress came over and rather rudely stated “just so you know it will be a 40 minute wait to get any food as we only have one person working in the kitchen”. No hello. No apology. My wife and I looked at each other and decided to leave. On the way out I mentioned to the manager that they probably shouldn’t accept reservations if they weren’t able to accommodate them. He told me that since we had reservations we wouldn’t have to wait that long for our food. Our experience was already ruined so we left. On the way back to our hotel we walked by a place called Brian’s 24 so we walked in with no reservations. Warm friendly greeting. Great service and great food. We’ll go there first next time.
Not a bad restaurant but nothing like it used to be. I ordered the steak and fries. It was good. But I was just disappointed that the restaurant had changed so much since my last visit. We used to order "Chef's Mercy," a 5 course surprise tasting menu. I was disappointed that it is no longer offered. The new chef seems to specialize in Asian flavors. It really wasn't a bad restaurant, but it's too far out of my way to ever go back.
This was overall a very odd restaurant experience. It is a very nice ambience. We find a server to be seated as no one was at the hostess stand. Had to go get the bartender to order cocktails as the waitress was MIA. He said he only helps people with reservations ( which we had, and the restaurant was 70% empty). Food and drinks were not good. Ceviche was fishy and had to be sent back. Again had to get our waitress to get our check.

I found this restaurant on the passport dining list and was overall displeased by the service. I made a reservation days in advance for 8pm and we had not exited the restaurant until 945pm. We were sat and not attended to for several minutes while the host came by to explain parts of the menu that he wasn’t extremely sure on. Once our server finally came and took our orders, I notified him about my friend’s birthday that evening. Food eventually came out and we ate our food in 10 minutes or less. Then my friend and I left out our passports to show we were ready for the check but was not attended to for a while. Finally, the cake for the birthday girl came and soon after the check came. We were charged for the cake and were unaware of this charge being applied and if we would’ve known then we would’ve picked out a specific dessert. It was an unfortunate experience but the only thing that I have positive to say was the food was good, no complaints there.
Our waitress was amazing. She was patient with our indecision of what to eat, walked us through the menu to help us choose, and gave us the time and space while we decided if we were going to keep eating. Just as we were finishing our meal, 3 of our friends joined us and started their order! Through it all she was awesome. The food was amazing and all of us shared it all. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting San Diego.
Made a reservation for our Anniversary
Ordered apps - soft shell crab was was very little meat mostly shell also ordered the tuna but was served tuna fish in a sardine can.
Ordered a J6 burger which was good. My wife ordered the fillet... rare and it came back medium well done. The server knew it was over cooked yet made an excuse that it was the best they could do. Really? The only good thing was the server did a good job and they gave us a desert. Do not plan to visit again . Hopefully they learn to cook a steak correctly and not serve overdone steaks .
I was intrigued to go as this place had a high review from yelp. I got reeled in even more when I saw that they had a couple Filipino dishes. I think the best part of the experience was the ambiance. Service was ok-though there weren't many patrons our food still took about 30 minutes since we ordered. Hubby ordered the evening special of bolognese pasta and I ordered the "pancit bihon". Let's just say that we won't be coming back or recommending this place to our friends. They have limited vegetarian options and the one that I did pick was less than satisfactory. The server was kind enough to take it out of the bill.
I relied on the TripAdvisor reviews in selecting this restaurant. The server was enthusiastic, but did not seem to catch on when one of our party indicated they were a vegetarian. Wine showed up w/ a dozen fruit-flies floating around. (Got a free drink and desert at the end...but, seriously!) VERY loud. Could hardly hear the server. Description touted plethora of vegetarian choices...but there was really only one as a main course and one as an appetizer. Food was just OK.
The food was excellent - we were surprised that there weren't more diners. The bar was crowded but the restaurant was not. Unusual for a Saturday night in San Diego's GasLamp. My sous vide short ribs were very very good and so was the sauce and the vegetables that accompanied the meal. Prices are reasonable. The Manhattan was not cold enough. The glass of malbec was better than average for the price.
Our server Michelle made great recommendations, Seafood Crudo was an excellent starter. A twist a the Caesar Salad with warmed lettuce and fried white anchovies, very tasty, and the Beef Tartare was an excellent recommendation.
The Scallops and the Sea Bass with the Adobo Pork were delicious!!!!

Had breakfast here on a previous trip to San Diego. Was good then but has been remodeled and redone. Still had excellent food and very nice service. They did forget to register us in for Open Table but otherwise we loved it and would go back. A little spendy for breakfast.
I didn't have a great experience and could not recommend. Ordered 3 courses. First 2 arrived at the same time. Warm beets were interesting. Would not order again. Shrimp okay. Probably better hot, but cold by the time I got to them. Sea bass was odd. The pork in the broth was tastier than the flabby fish. All dishes had strange garnishes; almost trying too hard. Can't say I will go back.
The front entrance was nice and inviting. The bar area was long and decorative; we had no issues getting served. The restaurant area was well decorated but small. Overall, about 50% of the place was for restaurant and 50% was for bar. The restaurant food was less than what I hoped for. For instance, there seemed to be a desire to put an artistic twist on some traditional items that just didn't work out for me. One example is the Caesar salad. The lettuce was grilled and the flavors just didn't do it for me. Another example is the Spare Ribs. They were okay but not as tender and juicy as I'm used to getting. Also, the vegetables underneath were not edible; they were hard to cut and chew. My guest enjoyed her seared scallops fine.
