J.R.'s Steak and Grill Ratings and Reviews
We had a great experience. The food, atmosphere and service were all good! We went in on Saturday afternoon and sat in bar and watched ballgames. The apps and bar service were excellent. Afterwards, we had a fantastic dinner in one of their private rooms, We met the owner and he was attentive to our needs. The food was delicious and service was very good.
Thanks to all your staff! Great place.
I had a last minute appointment cancel so I called my date and made a last minute reservation. The service was excellent, the wine list and sommelier were also excellent. Wait staff was attentive and the food was perfect. We had steak and lobster and it was perfect from presentation to finish. Steak was perfectly prepared as was the lobster.
JR’s is always a treat. But this time, the experience was a little sub-par. Our server was really low energy and not very friendly—shy perhaps. One of our burgers was undercooked and unable to be eaten by one in our party due to health issues. Did not want to send it back since it was a split meal so just switched part of it with the other burger that was cooked correctly. Everyone has an off experience every now and then so we will definitely return. By the way, disappointed that the cheese sticks are no longer on the menu!
Went for anniversary. Wonderful place to celebrate. Owner sat us and visited with us and the wait staff was fantastic. When we return to the area, we will definitely be dining there again.
Thanks JR for making our anniversary wonderful.
Be sure to get dessert!
Highly recommend this restaurant
We went on our anniversary. A waiter we have liked for years recently went to work there so we wanted to visit with him at his new place. And our anniversary was on a weeknight, so JR's is very close to home which made it a nice place for the occasion. They served us each a complimentary dessert with Happy Anniversary written on the plates. I thought that was pretty cool The manager came by to check on us and overall it was just a splendid evening with good food served to us by a good friend right there in the neighborhood.
Lunch for business and birthday was good. My boss had to ask for sweet and low several times but other then that, the service was good. My crab salad had onions in the avocado, which was not listed on the menu. I have to pick them out but the JRs Salad and crab were on point.
We got the couples date meal which had two soups/salads, a 6 oz filet, a 16 oz ribeye, and two deserts. We both got the lobster bisque for our soups. Then for desert, we got a crem brûlée and chocolate cake. Everything was incredible! If you want a different appetizer, then get the calamari for sure!
JR's has been one of our favorites for years. But, I fear they are losing their stature as a top tier fine dining establishment. The men's room is in disrepair with rust stains along the floor tile to the drain from the urinals and has been that way for months. The black toilets in both bathrooms are extremely off putting (hide too much uncleanliness). The food was great but the service is way short of what you'd expect at a fine dining establishment. We still tipped well and went to the bar after dinner to bring this to the attention of the manager. She told us that our server was one of their best. We'd had him before and he was just as bad then too. We wanted to point out his shortcomings so he could receive more training, but once we heard he was viewed as "one of the best," we weren't hopeful management even knows how to train staff. I'm sure we'll try once more because of our love for the place, but we might be relegated to just calling in an order to go for our favorite wings of all time!
The steak tasted fantastic, and was cooked just perfectly. The ambience was superb for a steak house. I can't say enough about the excellent service my wife and I received from the gentleman who waited on us. We will definitely go back again and recommend it to our friends.
The New York Strip and Rib Eye Steaks were absolutely perfect, loved the bread and the Chef's secret butter spread recipe! I was a little disappointed with the grits though, they were just too creamy and for my southern preference. Oh, and the cheesecake, it was amazing! Enjoyed our server Jesse too.
