J.R.'s Steak and Grill Ratings and Reviews
JR's has a mixed menu from highly priced steaks to a $10.00 sandwich. The side selection is limited on green vegetables to 1.entrees come with a potato side the menu states a $3.00 change to change to another selection. Service is excellent except on very busy dates such as Father's day,etc when it appears they bring in extra staff which are not always as well trained. Overall we enjoy the dining at JR's
Spur of the moment New Year's Eve dinner....we were fortunate to be able to make a reservation for dinner at 8:30 pm and the menu was surprisingly Gluten free including the wonderful desserts!
JR's is our neighbourhood Steak House and we always pay a visit especially when we have out-of-town guests. We can always count on excellent service, ambience and fine dining.
J.R.'s has a upscale decor and atmosphere. Service was attentive. Food delivery timely. Lobster Bisque was thick, hearty, with lumps of lobster. J.R.'s also knew the difference between cold and warm water lobster. Unfortuneately the prices were high and the quality average. An 8 oz. filet mignon, 8 oz. cold water lobster tail, lobster bisque, garlic cesar salad, asparagus and ice tea was $150. The filet it self was $99, cooked as ordered, medium rare, warm red center. It was not tender, as a melt in your mouth filet mignon should be. The cold water lobster, served with claified butter lacked the tender sweetness it would have, if ordered in Bar Harbor, Maine. You will find an outstanding tasty 8 oz. filet mignon, Ahi Tuna and much better value at Dino's Steak and Claw House, Grapevine, TX. I am not affiliated with either restaurant. A good steak though is a worthy item to search for.
I go to JRs whenever I want something special and I have never come away disappointed. All of their dishes appear appealing, but once I tasted the smoked prime rib, a dish I have not seen anywhere else, for me, this will always be my choice. The people who provide the service are top-drawer in every sense -- from the valet, through hostess and server. They are well trained professionals that provide significant additional value to the wonderful food. I recommend this place to everyone who requests a suggestion for a place to dine, and occasionally to people who make no such request. Trust me, if you are reading this while contemplating a restaurant choice , I guarantee you will not be disappointed by JRs.
Excellent food, wine, and cocktails. Chef Todd Phillips' creative and deversified menu gives great value for any occasion. JR'S is always one of the best meals we have ever had compared to like restaurants around the country. Ask to sit in the more quiet main dining room if you don't have a game you want to watch in the spacious bar seating area. We can't wait to go back!
Went to JR's for fine dining with family for Christmas Eve. Table was in a noisy bar with 8 Tv screens around us - not my idea of fine dining as compared to a Bobs or Del Frescos. Service was marginal, food average, and a $250+ bill. After paying the bill I asked for the Manager at the hostess stand. I told her FYI - fine dining is not putting people in a noisy bar. She asked when did I make reservations and told her 10 days previous. I suggested that they tell people that JR's is not fine dining. A person (man) then came up to me a started yelling at me for belittling his employees. At no time did I raise my voice and already paid the tab so I was not trying to get anything free - just letting them know my experience. The man then said get out of my rest. - which shocked me. I then told him how shocked I was and that he was an @@@@&@@@&. I asked him did he really not care what my experience was and he said hell no. Needles to say - I will not be going back there again and have already shared my experiences on social media which I never do. The man who confronted me had been standing by the bar during dinner drinking so the alcohol might had influenced him.
We were a party of 7 friends at a Christmas dinner. The waitress had a difficult time getting our appetizers vs main courses straight. A couple of us chose to have 2 appetizers in lieu of an over-priced main course. Evidently, this is rarely done & confused the wait-staff. The chicken wings were the best part of our meal. Let me warn you---the mild spice is plenty spicy enough. The calamari steaks appetizer was enough for 4 people, easy. The lobster bisque was too thick. I could've eaten it with a fork. Those of us who had steak or prime rib were underwhelmed. All in all, I was not as impressed as I expected to be & would probably not go back.
Love J.R.'s Steakhouse and Grill. Could not have asked for better service or food. I had the pepper crusted filet, and it was perfect. The mash potatoes that come with it are different than any I have ever had. They are wonderful. Our dessert was the Pumpkin Waffle with a scoop of vanilla ice cream....great way to finish a wonderful meal.
While steaks are a little pricey, those in our party who ordered them were very pleased. There is a wide menu selection for items others than steak. I enjoyed the salmon, which was a very generous portion. I highly recommend the roasted mushroom soup appetizer. Comfortable atmosphere, which was upscale but not too stiff.
Upon arrival, I asked if we could be seated in the bar area. They did put us there, but did not mention the fact the despite every table being full, there was only 1 server! It was absolutely miserable. The food was also not the usual for JR's. The steaks were not at all close to how we requested them cooked. Everything was very salty, the grilled veggies had a foam-like consistency. Our glasses stayed empty. This is not the norm, and we will certainly go again. It was just such a disappointing experience for our 14th wedding anniversary. I also entered that in the notes, but it was not acknowledged at all by any of the staff.
Was first time. Went there for nieces birthday which the restaurant was aware. You would think the server would of offereed a bday dessert but wasn't. The server was newer and didn't know a lot about the menu. We all ordered peppered crusted steak. One of the steaks was underdone but preparation was good. Excellent wine selection and good steak selection. Overall good atmosphere and good food.
Food (filet) was very good. Convenient location. The only negative, was a large family came in about halfway through our dinner. There were maybe 4 adults and 4 young children, ALL of whom were laughing loud - and the kids of course yelling. The parents did nothing, and neither did the staff. This is NOT McDonalds, and you should not tolerate loud obnoxious groups or families. Believe me - we won't, and will therefore hesitate to return. It's a business! Run it like one!
We love to spend our Anniversaries at JR's. It is a special experience for a special occasion. From the Greeting staff through the Wait staff. They make you feel comfortable and treat you with the up most respect.
The ambiance is perfect and the pricing is moderate for the service. We highly recomend that anyone looking for a quality dining experience, try JR's.
My wife, her sister, who is visiting her, and I had dinner together. We enjoyed the food and since we visit fairly often, have never been dissatisfied. The JR's Salad is very good and we always enjoy it. We have had steak, fish, chicken fried steak among the items on the menu. Anyone who wants a good meal with friendly service staff to attend to them will not be disappointed. C'mon Down.
