The service was slow. The waiter did not bring a wine list with the menus--we had to ask for it. The wife's lobster was served without potatoes, which according to the menu was included. When we ordered the dessert listed as berries and cream, it was presented without cream. This was our third visit to this restaurant--don't think we'll be back!
Absolutely the worst service we’ve ever had from a high dollar steakhouse. Our waiter brought wine to our table, but didn’t open the bottles for literally 10 minutes. Had to ask a manager. Had to ask for complimentary bread, which is standard procedure. Brought out one free birthday cheesecake without asking the rest of us what we wanted. We were celebrating 2 birthdays, a huge job promotion, a 20th wedding anniversary, and a new house. YET, only ONE was brought for one person... without any consideration to the rest of us. Oh, and checks were wrong. We settled cash later between ourselves. We left SO disappointed. Terrible!!! We would have gotten better service at a Chili’s.
JR’s is our favorite steak house to dine at when we come to the Dallas area. Great steaks, service and atmosphere.
Outstanding steakhouse with excellent service. The jalapeño hollandaise is the best sauce over steak I’ve ever had.
Had to send a steak back to be cooked a little more by the time we got it back three of the people had already finished eating
Food was excellent - little pricey but that’s the same with every quality steak house.
J.R's has been a favorite of our entire family. Combining the Bar & Grill with the Steak House was perfect! We can grab a great hamburger and watch the live sports, or meet my friends for a glass of wine during happy hour. Excellent service and great steaks!
It had been awhile since we’ve been to J. R.’s and I’m glad we came. The food was excellent, they have the best calamari ever!! We will definitely be back.
The food was superb as well as the service. Will definitely go back
My husband and I really enjoyed our experience while celebrating our anniversary. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was just what we were hoping for. We were super impressed with the delicious food and surprised with a complimentary desert to help us celebrate. We will definitely be back.
Food was exceptional. Staff very friendly and they work well as a team.
For the price I was expecting great service and better food.
Nice quiet lunch
We had not been to JR's in quite some time. I must say that the food was very good. I had the grilled primed rib and I found it cooked to perfection and the flavor was exceptional. Our daughter had the peppered tuna and she too thought it was very good. I see a return trip on the near furture.
Everything was so good. Probably the best steak I've had in a long time.
Brother in law wanted wings, as always y’all did not disappoint.
Light over our dinner table constantly flickered. It wasn't giving a warm & pleasing atmosphere. Food & service was exceptional, as usual. Felt the wedge salad was small for the price paid.
We had a wonderful meal, as always, and our waitress Pantera was fantastic!
We have visited J.R.'s several times in the past but this was the first time we left unhappy. We visited the restaurant 02/24/2018 at 5:30. To start, I ordered a wedge salad asking for ranch instead of blue cheese dressing. I was given blue cheese but did not make a big deal about it as things happen. I ordered my steak medium which when served was quite rare in the middle. This is how I have always ordered my steak. After sending the steak back twice I ended up with a charred piece of meat. My wife ordered salmon, as she does every visit, and it was terribly undercooked. The center of the salmon had a jelly like texture, not translucent. When we pointed it out to the manager walking by she simply said they can cook it longer. What surprised me was her reaction. We were an inconvenience to her, an annoyance, and it was written all over her face. Even her apology was forced and insincere. We stayed polite and respectful the entire time which is why I was surprised by her lack of sincerity. Aside from that, our desserts were excellent and our waiter was attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, we are not sure we will return to J.R.'s in the future as this was an expensive meal and left highly disappointed.
Outstanding. Food was excellent as well as the service. Coming from living in San Francisco, I was amazed how moderately priced the menu items were!
Everyone told me to try the burger...and they were correct! Spectacular. A+
Excellent service and suggestions. The waiter suggested the Wagyu filet. The steak, creamed potatoes, and asparagus were delicious. The tenderest steak I've ever had. We sat right next to the fireplace and the noise level was very quiet. We really enjoyed that. Thanks JR for a wonderful 22nd Anniversary dinner.
Food was excellent. Service top notch. We were in a secondary room- less noise, but a bit colder
Went for Valentine’s Day, set menu was good. Didn’t like being rushed out after.
You will pay more elsewhere, but are unlikely to get more in terms of meal quality and service. If an excellent menu, from appetizers to the desserts, a good wine list, and great service matter more, then J.R's is for you.
My wife and I ate there in 2009 for our first dating anniversary and most recently for our 5th wedding anniversary. On the latest occasion they sent out a complementary cheesecake, and took great care of us. There is also something about shaking hands with the manager and being thanked for your business on the way out.
I highly recommend J.R's for a special occasion, or upscale casual dining with the family.
This restaurant has reasonable prices for a steakhouse but still offers an awesome meal. I love the calamari! We had crab cakes, and each got a 6 oz filet. They were all amazing! We finished with cheesecake - awesome!!
Food and service are both consistently great. It’s like two restaurants in one - the bar side is casual and lively (sometimes loud and noisy) but the dining side is quiet and cozy. Service is great on both sides. JR’s also has a better than average selection of wines.
JR's is always a good bet for dinner. That said, this particular evening was a bit off. The dinning room had two large tables of loud and boisterous male diners that made conversation a challenge. More off-putting was the female server's habit of reaching across my wife's face to place items in front of me. As we were in a booth set in the center of the room, there were no obstacles to walking a short distance to my side of the booth. The male servers managed to do this.
Everything was perfect
Excellent. Food was fabulous. Staff inquired and knew we were going to take our time and acted accordinglysu
First time, but won't be my last. Enjoyed the menu and ambiance.
Steak was a bit salty but good otherwise
Steak was AWESOME over all everything was very good will be going back way better than DelFriscos
Food was very good. Service was great! I had been there for a meeting but not with my husband and friends. Very nice experience!
We have been going to JRs since it opened. It is our tradition to have New Years Dinner at JRs. The food is consistently outstanding . The hostesses are friendly and courteous, and every time we have been there, JR or one of the managers stops by our table to make sure that they are meeting our expectations .
Great place for a great steak! Service was excellent!! Highly recommend this restaurant.
We have been to JR's several times and it never disappoints. Great food and a comfortable environment. We hope to be back soon.
Went on Christmas Eve with my family, two adults and two kids. I get the staff probably does not want to be working on Christmas Eve which was very apparent with our waiter. First thing he said to our table was “You need to order as soon as possible”. Kept rushing us throughout the whole dinner. Food was mediocre at best for the price. At the end of the meal our waiter never said thank you grabed the check and his $50 dollar tip and walked away. Have no desire to go back.
Fabulous menu selections. Superb service. Wonderful ombience. Great place for special occasions.
I had dinner here a couple years ago and it was outstanding. Today was a business lunch and there were 3 of us. We started with crabcake appetizer. It was good but not great. They were flat, not thick and fluffy. But still had a nice crab taste.I had the 8 oz. pepper crusted filet. It was tender but not as flavorful as I was expecting. The asparagus was almost raw. One of the others had the salmon which she liked and the other had the ribeye and cheese grits that he said was delish. Service was excellent except I asked for water with lemon and never got the lemon. Overall, it was a nice experience but if I went back I wouldn't get the same steak.
