We had been wanting to try JRs for awhile. Getting together with old friends was the perfect opportunity. Our waiter Jesse was very patient with us as we chose our cocktails and entrees, as we would get caught up reminiscing and sidetracked from our menus. We ordered off the wine list that had many regional choices to chose from and Jesse also recommended his favorites. For our entrees three of us chose the cedar plank salmon, it was an excellent choice and was cooked to perfection. It came with smashed potatoes which I opted to replace with the tomato salad. Vine ripe tomotoes, finely sliced red onion, a drizzle of balsalmic vinegar and blue cheese crumbles on top. It was delicious. Jesse also suggested we pair our dinner with a side of asparagus which was a generous serving for 4 of us.
The fourth member of our party chose the 6oz petite filet. Her steak arrived as requested, pink inside, nicely seasoned and very tender.
We enjoyed a nice evening at JRs Steak & Grill, our waiter was excellent and all of our dinners were delicious.
We look forward to a return visit.
Everything would have been great aside from me getting an email saying that the restaurant reported me as a no show to open table even though I showed on time and have the $200 tab to prove it. Seriously JRs you’re better than that.
Aside from this management issue, I moved back to Texas a month ago and had JRs for the first time then. Ive been back twice since. Steaks are solid sides and drinks are great. Great place all around.
Lobster bisque was amazing and our prime rib cooked to perfection, waiter was on the ball with our food drinks every thing we wanted
This mid afternoon meal went very well for the three of us although the prices of a number of items on the menu. Well beyond the value they provided. The food was good and the service was excellent the dark atmosphere is lacking I could be improved
Bad quality, very slow service food was less than stellar. If I’m going to spend $50 per steak better goto bobs or nick and sams
Absolutely amazing. Had the Tomahawk, and my wife had the Wagyu Filet with asparagus and creamed corn. I almost fought the dog for the Tomahawk bone. Everything was very Delicious.
Service was excellent! Prime rib was too tough to chew.
The tomahawk steak was a perfect medium-rare, the service was respectful and allowed us time to enjoy our meal. Can't beat the "smashed" potatoes.
Great food in a quiet atmosphere. Our server, Bradley, was outstanding.
The food was fantastic, the service just right and the ambiance was everything I expected. I will be going back again based on this visit.
Service food atmosphere is great. Can’t say enough about JRs !!!! We will definetly be back again.
The Salad dressings (Blu Cheese) are homemade and awesome! The pork chops is meaty and filling (and Iam a big guy) and a value! The sea bass is exceptional! We had sides of cream corn, mushrooms and grilled onions that were on point! The service was great (they may be to eager) as they can to table a lot. Over all I rate this establishment a solid 9 out of 10 I will have the steak next visit!
This was our first visit to JRs in many years. We live nearby and wanted to see if we should have given it more of a chance in the past. The service was attentive and diligent from the valet to the waiter.
The food was good but not what you expect at that price point. The calamari app was not good, however. It was covered with a very thick and bland batter. The house salad was average. My NY strip steak was very tasty. However, my wife had tuna and was not thrilled.
Overall, better options for the money nearby.
Although the bar area was loud at 5:30 the restaurant side was quiet. The service was timely and accomodating. We shared several appetizers and main course. It was all wonderful. The mac n cheese was the best ever! The steak and lobster was excellent and the lobster bisque was supreme. We have alreadt planned a return visit.
Very enjoyable atmosphere. Very good service. Very good food. Definitely recommend this restaurant...for any occasion.
Food was mediocre at best. Not nearly what it used to be. Definitely not the caliber steak you would expect for TX.
The food was fantastic. Steak was cooked just right to order. It had wonderful flavor to it. The side dishes also matched up to the main entree in quality and uniqueness. The service was exceptional as well. We highly recommend this restaurant.
There was nothing particularly good about the food. Everything is very overpriced. Same quality as Saltgrass or other "middle-end" steak restaurants but the pricing was more similar to Del Frisco's.
If you have money to spend, and don't really care about creative flavors, or properly seasoned/prepped food, this is the place to go. It will probably impress clients if you want to show them that you don't mind spending money.
Great food and great service. Well worth the money.
Wagyu Filet very tender and delicious.
Nice birthday cheesecake with berries and chocolate drizzle writing out Happy Birthday
Glad to see some of JRs original class/excellence happening again... there was a period in between management or ownership that JRs lost their focus.
The service was slow. The waiter did not bring a wine list with the menus--we had to ask for it. The wife's lobster was served without potatoes, which according to the menu was included. When we ordered the dessert listed as berries and cream, it was presented without cream. This was our third visit to this restaurant--don't think we'll be back!
Absolutely the worst service we’ve ever had from a high dollar steakhouse. Our waiter brought wine to our table, but didn’t open the bottles for literally 10 minutes. Had to ask a manager. Had to ask for complimentary bread, which is standard procedure. Brought out one free birthday cheesecake without asking the rest of us what we wanted. We were celebrating 2 birthdays, a huge job promotion, a 20th wedding anniversary, and a new house. YET, only ONE was brought for one person... without any consideration to the rest of us. Oh, and checks were wrong. We settled cash later between ourselves. We left SO disappointed. Terrible!!! We would have gotten better service at a Chili’s.
Smoked wings are Awesome! Get them Hot! Well worth it.👍🏼
Outstanding steakhouse with excellent service. The jalapeño hollandaise is the best sauce over steak I’ve ever had.
JR’s is our favorite steak house to dine at when we come to the Dallas area. Great steaks, service and atmosphere.
Had to send a steak back to be cooked a little more by the time we got it back three of the people had already finished eating
Food was excellent - little pricey but that’s the same with every quality steak house.
J.R's has been a favorite of our entire family. Combining the Bar & Grill with the Steak House was perfect! We can grab a great hamburger and watch the live sports, or meet my friends for a glass of wine during happy hour. Excellent service and great steaks!
It had been awhile since we’ve been to J. R.’s and I’m glad we came. The food was excellent, they have the best calamari ever!! We will definitely be back.
The food was superb as well as the service. Will definitely go back
My husband and I really enjoyed our experience while celebrating our anniversary. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was just what we were hoping for. We were super impressed with the delicious food and surprised with a complimentary desert to help us celebrate. We will definitely be back.
Food was exceptional. Staff very friendly and they work well as a team.
For the price I was expecting great service and better food.
Nice quiet lunch
We had not been to JR's in quite some time. I must say that the food was very good. I had the grilled primed rib and I found it cooked to perfection and the flavor was exceptional. Our daughter had the peppered tuna and she too thought it was very good. I see a return trip on the near furture.
Everything was so good. Probably the best steak I've had in a long time.
Brother in law wanted wings, as always y’all did not disappoint.
Light over our dinner table constantly flickered. It wasn't giving a warm & pleasing atmosphere. Food & service was exceptional, as usual. Felt the wedge salad was small for the price paid.
We had a wonderful meal, as always, and our waitress Pantera was fantastic!
We have visited J.R.'s several times in the past but this was the first time we left unhappy. We visited the restaurant 02/24/2018 at 5:30. To start, I ordered a wedge salad asking for ranch instead of blue cheese dressing. I was given blue cheese but did not make a big deal about it as things happen. I ordered my steak medium which when served was quite rare in the middle. This is how I have always ordered my steak. After sending the steak back twice I ended up with a charred piece of meat. My wife ordered salmon, as she does every visit, and it was terribly undercooked. The center of the salmon had a jelly like texture, not translucent. When we pointed it out to the manager walking by she simply said they can cook it longer. What surprised me was her reaction. We were an inconvenience to her, an annoyance, and it was written all over her face. Even her apology was forced and insincere. We stayed polite and respectful the entire time which is why I was surprised by her lack of sincerity. Aside from that, our desserts were excellent and our waiter was attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, we are not sure we will return to J.R.'s in the future as this was an expensive meal and left highly disappointed.
