JP Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
It wasn't that the restaurant was bad, as I'm sure it is great, BUT, it was not open! We made reservations weeks in advance, arrived at the restaurant for dinner right on time, and it was closed. We should have been notified that they would not be open that day. They should not have offered that day as an option for reservations. It was a holiday weekend and we were out of town, so we had to find somewhere else nearby that had availability. We got the last table at another restaurant, but were disappointed that we were not able to eat where we had planned.
The food was delicious and the hostess was fantastic. Our waiter came to our table and told us the specials (one of which was incorrect) and never returned. We sat there for 15 mins . and finally I called the hostess over and she immediately took our drink orders and came back to check on us only to find out our waiter still had not returned to our table. She took our orders and continued to wait on us through out our dinner. She was gracious and attentive.
We were celebrating my father's birthday, everyone enjoyed their food; 15oz steak, scallops, margaritas pizza, black been burger, jalapeno cornbread, and asparagus...all were delicious. The service was great as well, a dessert was taken off the bill, acknowledging our birthday celebration.
DISAPPOINTED !! Called days in advance to inquire as to the inclusion of traditional Thanksgiving DINNER type fare [turkey, dressing, gravy, etc. etc.] and was assured it would be available. IT WAS NOT!! Web site showed a cost of $40 per person. Bill was $125.57 without ANY add-ons [such as drinks (Mimosas, etc.)]. Expected $80 plus TAX, etc. ... but not $125. 57. OTHERWISE ... it was a nice experience. Staff was gracious. FOOD choices were very good and the quality was also good. Just won't return due to the POOR execution of the advance promise and the possible "bait and switch” pricing ... unless it was a mistake of some kind which we'll not know of because it was Christmas Day and not worth the upset it might have caused.
If I wrote this review last year after my Ladies gift exchange meet up and after my family started a Christmas Brunch tradition I would’ve gave this place 5 stars. However after our 3 visit (this year Christmas Brunch) I had to take away 2 stars for my perspective.
I’m Vegan and the Christmas Brunch is extremely large with a lot of options and stations. I don’t expect much in the South as far as Vegan options on menus or let alone a buffet. However my family really wanted to do this Brunch since we agreed that the years we stay in town it will be our tradition. Well I called beforehand and inquired about Vegan options and was told there were about 3-4. Keep in mind the regular food options are 30-40. I asked about not paying the $60 Adult rate for myself as I wouldn’t be able to eat like those who eat meat and animal products. I stated that I’m willing to pay the child price of $29 to munch on 3-4 items out of 30-40. I was told the manager on site Christmas would be able to do that for me.
So we arrive for our reservation and the manager came over to show me the “Vegan” options which were actually Vegetarian only 1-2 were Vegan so I couldn’t eat but 1-2 items instead of 3-4 and guess what?? I was charged $60 since I’m an adult not keeping in mind there wasn’t food for me to eat.
I paid as its Christmas but I won’t be returning with my family we will find another Brunch and make that tradition as this was ridiculous for me 2017.
I have been to the Westin bar and restaurant twice in the last week and the wine selection was INCREDIBLY limited. Very disappointing. I thought it was a fluke the first night but then in the restaurant 4 days later, they had less than half the wine list available. This was on top of a fairly uninspiring menu. Our server, Conrad was quite kind. It was just disappointing considering the competition in Charlotte these days.
My dining experience was good, had one of their specialty cocktails, that was good but not quite what I was expecting. Had the turkey burger and sweet potato tots, which were great. Unable to try any of the desserts, as I was too full!
Went for Mother's day brunch . The food choices were the best I have ever seen at a brunch , including raw shrimp and crab, prime rib and pork, omelet station and flat bread pizza, among other items. Service was impeccable as well. Special holiday pricing was in effect, so it was pricey however it was all about the MOMS!
While the food was delightful, our service was horrendous. We went for Easter brunch. We literally sat for 15 minutes before we were even greeted. And even then the greeting was "no one's come by yet? Well then I'll guess I'll have to take care of you". Our coffee and drinks were never refilled. Dirty plates were not removed from the table, leading to stacks of dirty dishes teetering on the edges. We waited forever for the bill to arrive.
We traveled to Uptown Charlotte for Easter Brunch. This was by far the best brunch we have ever experienced. The food was excellent with local southern favorites along with upscale Easter cuisine. The service was exceptional. The management was very attentive to all and made a point to come around to all the tables to make sure everything was good. Will be back to this restaurant for sure.
JP Charlotte was fantastic! For me, I was on a date with my girlfriend and decided to take her out for the night. Perfect getaway for the night and awesome food. We will defiantly be back there again, whether it's for date night or Sunday lunch! Thanks JP Charlotte!
